    very informative and well explained video about drive belts 4d56 engine.
    just watched your video coz im searching for answers just got the timing belt of our adventure SE replaced by a machanic and it only last for year and a half. it broke down yesterday and luckily i just starting to warm it up in the garage when suddenly the engine shut down. i tried start it up and it has a whizzing sound only of the starter. i pop the hood check the fuel pump but i have already a gut feeling of a broken timing belt. i decided to do it myself removedl the upper cover found a loose belt. felt something not right i bought a genuine set up to the oil seals replaced all the tensioner and bushings. .... now just decide to do it myself instead of bringing it back to the mechanic using your video as a guide to check what really is the cause. its my first time to replace a timing betl.
    BUT BEFORE I WATCHED UR VIDEO I TRIED TO TURN THE CAMSHAFT GEAR TO ALIGN IT ON ITS TIMING MARK BUT FORGOT TO PUT THE CRANKSAHFT TO DEAD CENTER. THEN IT GOT STOCKED. BUT I TURN THE CRANSHAFT ON ITS DC AND TURN SMOTHLY.
    DOES IT CAUSE ANY DAMAGE ON THE VALVES OR PISTONS ?
    Tnx

    I enjoy the video. Timing belts definitely should not break prematurely. Typically you should also replace the belt tensioner. And if it drives the water pump, that should also be changed. Even if they seem like they are OK. And depending how old the Engine is, cam and crank shaft seals

    Hello bro. I really enjoyed looking at your videos. They are very informative and much helpful. I do have an L200, 3500 CC, petrol, 2009. I started having noises in the engine. It sounds like a diesel engine. This sound came in soon after replacing the Timing belt during its first 100 k service. Now I did the other Timing belt service at 230 k and the same sound remains. Any help would more appreciated.

      If that started after the belt was replace i would look at engine timing.

  • @DKSE123
    @DKSE123 Před rokem

    Most vehicles built in last 30 years should get a complete timing kit including tensioner & water pump ( if pump is driven by timing belt). The days of simply replacing the timing belt are long over . Any job worth doing , is worth doing correctly .

    Starting this engine with a broken timing belt can bend the valves?

    • @MrDIYer
      @MrDIYer  Před 2 lety

      If the belt is broken the engine wont start. Out of timing can lead to bent valves

    Doesn't rotating crank shaft in the absence of oil cause friction between piston oil seal & walls🤔⁉️

    It’s insane how a little rubber belt can completely destroy an engine! That’s why timing chains are the best, they usually last the lifetime of the car
