      6 months is very much debatable and dates from many decades ago. One 'professional' says this, the other 'professional' says that. GM states 12 months, why not 6 ?
      Have been doing it once a year for all our cars without any negative effects. The synthetics now are much better quality than the minerals from decades ago it has replaced.

    • @therevenant320
      @therevenant320 Před 5 lety +5

      mirola73 10,000 kms or 1 year which ever comes first. When it comes to fully synthetic, you can change as mentioned above. If it’s mineral oil, 6 months, you need to change it.

    EVERY oil claims to be 'better'.
    I myself always look for the cheapest oil that suits VW 504 specs, MUCH better than the Dexos 2 GM describes for my car.
    Brand isn't important, frequency of change is all that counts, incl. filter of course..

  • @TheRichardF10
    @TheRichardF10 Před 5 lety +9

    Getting that kind of sludge and varnish build up is only caused by using conventional oil or synthetic blend oil. You can use any full synthetic and still get the same wear protection and cleanliness. What is considered "inferior oils?" I would agree conventional oil is inferior to full synthetic but is Mobil 1, Valvoline Syn Power, or Castrol Edge inferior? I don't think so. Not hating on Shell's PurePlus Technology but you can use any full synthetic with the same results. You simply would not get the same results with conventional oil. I still dig this this oil because we are stepping away from crude oil and that is important to overall climate issues and resources.

      I respectfully disagree. There's plenty of modern engines refered to as sludge monsters such as the High feature v6 from GM which will sludge up even with full synthetic due to poorly designed pcv systems and longer drains intervals.

    • @raptor_boss6402
      @raptor_boss6402 Před 5 lety +15

      Shiva Bachoo, Shell is not a waste of time. Take their gas for example, keep in mind I have a 2004 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T FWD and it's automatic. When I used to get Meijer's gas I would get 350 miles (not sure in kilometers), then my car would ding at me at around 300 miles. When I went to Shell I found a significant increase in miles. My last fill up was to 450 miles and dings at me around 330 miles thanks to Shell. So you see, they are not a bad company. I actually prefer them over anything else. I even plan to do the Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40 in the near future. Hopefully you now see it too.😉
