Baked Rice and Meat - Like Grandma Used to Make
This a recipe from my Grandma’s favorite 1944 cookbook from Lily Wallace.
The browning of the rice and onions reminded me of Rice a Roni.
My Wife thought it needed a 4 Wooden spoon rating. And she has pretty much eaten the rest of it, since recording. Of course not all at once.
I used Flat Iron Steak for the cold cooked meat, and it wasn’t dry or tough at all after cooking. I had pan fried it, then let it cool down and cut it up. I thought about grilling it but didn’t get a chance.
I wasn’t sure about the tomatoes, I always think as a last minute filler, but it seemed to turn out pretty good anyways.

I follow the recipes exactly with no substitutions on ingredients. Grandmother recipes are the ones you can always relate to. You can eat something and you might say “Like Grandma Used to Make”.
