beautiful cathedral and very nice people from Liverpool; the kindest people ever known in England.
The 200foot void that is giving it such a haunting volume. Perfection
I am a bell ringer myself and this is just beautiful and I would recommend anyone to come along and try it.
I THINK ITS SO BEAUTIFUL, IN REMEMBRANCE OF JOHN. HE SURELY IS BEING MISSED BY ALL. SUCH A LOVELY TRIBUTE TO HIM!
Most beautiful thing to have happened in a while.
Bravo, John would be proud! Long live our imaginations and our faith!
Beautifully Played Bell 🔔 Ringers, Liverpool UK 🇬🇧
Despite the sonic shortcomings, I think it sounds just great. And a huge amount of effort on the part of the bell ringers.. superb!
I hope you appreciate that Change ringing bells like these are not meant to be rung this way, and for them to be rung is this manor for the sake of this song took a lot of effort.
These bells are the heaviest and largest set of Change ringing bells in the world, and make a lot of noise and the bells hum to a vast extent. The tower is far to big for the bells to be listened to comfortably, and the echo reflects off the walls for a long time after the bell is struck.
Bodger Bell Ringer. Being Born in and raised a resident of South Liverpool, I am doubly Blessed. Being A Christian & hearing The Liverpool Anglican Bell's Ringing Across Our City , Has A Unseen Spiritual Message and Connection Between National Bell Ringing Churches & Cathedral's..To The Worldwide. This Anglican Cathedral Bell Ringers Playing John Lennon
Imagine Is Not Only Perfect Spiritual Timing..But, It Is A Powerful Humanity Blessing - Globally 🌎
This was a wonderful act of the Cathedral! I appreciate this, it's truly an act creating understanding beyond christianity and religion - just like the song.
I've been to this Catherdral cemetry yard many of times. The size of the cathedral is stunning. I've heard they're planning to build a bridge spanning over the cemetry next to it.
Excellent! Yes, you definitely have to do a little imagining to make out the song, but it's there.
Thanks for posting this, Ianart. Such a beautiful tribute to a great man and native son.
I had planned to go up from London to hear the bells along with these folks, but wasn't feeling well.
I've been there, and it's a magnificant cathedral along with the Metro Cathedral.
'Serenity Prayer'
God, grant me the serenity to accept the thing I can not change ;
Courage to change the things I and Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time ;
Living one moment at a time ;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace ;
Taking as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I Would have it ;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will ;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life ;
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next
Amen
Some comments seem to be under the impression that the bells are being rung "full circle". In fact they are being chimed, a very much easier process for sounding tunes on bells.
Wow!!!
Less than 200 views and no comments? We'll have to change that :) Thanks for posting, very interesting video. John would have loved it.
It's an Anglican cathedral. And the 5th largest cathedral in the World.
..............Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, tooImagine all the people
Living life in peace ......................
Sounds slightly weird! but a very good effort!! Congrats to all involved!
No its very cool!!

What is ellacombe chime
@themeecer Bell ringing is not a religious thing, it just happens that bells are put in a church.
The real reason for playing the song on the bells was to start off the Alder Hey Childrens Hospital 'Imagine' event held in the cathedral. See the website.....Mr. Buddy
"imagine no religion ringing beeells to meeeeeeee"
This is not the bells being full circle rung. It is the ellacombe chime on 10 of the bells
+moncky2000 No. They have tied the ropes to the clappers. The ellacombe chiming mechanism was broken at this time.
And using all 12!
Just because they're in a church doesn't mean the songs off limits.
You're very right. More bells would be needed, sharps and flats etc.
Not for this song.
I'm sure you're right. I don't think any bell-ringers would have been able to make it sound good - it was just not possible.
You would just have to "imagine" what it would sound like, to sound good.
I am a atheist (not the hatefull type). Yet I like the church bells ringing but my mate who a Christian hates them life is full of surprises
So do Church bells have the full range of musical notes then ?
It didnt sound right to me
It would have been over by the time they finished ringing the second line.
I doubt it, there's only 13 bells I think, sounded like there's a few notes missing but still very recognisable
yes I beleve there was a problem with one of the bells so they had to improvise. Still a good effort
anarchian cathedral?
someone shuld have been playing the actual song while this was hapening
I Hope that We Remember.

взаимоисключающие параграфы :)
@quwers It quite clearly is a religious thing; do you honestly think that churches "just happen" to put bells up for your own personal enjoyment. More fool you if you are enhancing Christian worship and giving glory to God without realising it. And thank you for so doing, of course.
it's very strange for a catholic man to see in this church a bar and then to see the bell to sing Imagine....
It's impossible to think Pope that plays with his bell song like master of puppets :)
Well, I thought that was pretty damn impressive!
And I'd also like to point out that Christians are often a minority amongst bellringers, so if you don't like the sound of the bells it's only fair to blame atheists too.
lol isn't the first line of this song "imagine there's no heaven"
Wow
Everyone
hmm, maybe you need a bit of IMAGINATION
Yes some parts sounded ok but with notes missing it seems a bit of a non starter with a lot of hype.
If you bothered to find out how difficult it is to do something like that on tower bells you wouldn't be saying that! Your ear just isn't developed enough to appreciate it.
very funny... if you remember that he said no hell and no haven and no religion ha ha ha ha
John did not belive in christianity
I just dont hear the song. I mean... i hear the bells but i cant make out the song.
Then you must have an extremely bad ear for music
"imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do.
nothing to kill or die for. and no religions to.
(...) imagine no possessions."
this is anarchism. nothing to do with anglicanism. get it?
Do you mean “anarchy”?
Imagine is one of my all-time favorite songs, but this didn't sound like any song I've ever heard -- just noise pollution.
@DieToFleshNotSpirit Meh.
Well thank you Mr. Buddy for your more-than-unhelpful critique of the whole thing..... try verse 3:
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
If it sounds like shit then I suggest you see an ENT surgeon & get your ears sorted out.
This wasn't for you to have a pop at Christians. Maybe the world would be a better place if people like you kept their big gob shut.
But then John Lennon also said “I am the eggman, I am the walrus, goo-goo-ga-joob”, so I take his “words of wisdom” with a very large pinch of salt
While it sounds like a great idea, and was certainly a skillful performance by the bell ringers, it totally fails. It sounds awful.
Though John would have appreciated the effort I'm certain.
Absurd! An antireligious song played by cathedral bells! Shame!
"I don't know which will go first - rock 'n' roll or Christianity." -John Lennon
As above.
62peppe62 It’s a tribute.
Why play, with church bells, a Song that invites you to imagine a world without religion? a world without heaven and hell? that's disgusting nonsense!
I think they seriously need to redesign the whole bell thing because it sounds absolutely pathetic! Look, we're not exactly living in the Bronze Age anymore where stinking bells were cutting-edge technology. And convert the churches into something useful to humankind while they're at it.
The bells are nice, the tower is the problem! You see, it's a massive tower and it's concrete inside, meaning the acoustics are quite crap. Any ring of bells, no matter how good, are going to have a hard time being clearly heard in the tower.
