I forgot about those grills Mike. I like them. Burgers looked great. I'm not a huge fan of sauce either but I do like it on burgers. Here's a link to a Jaxx Drinkwater video using a Sportsman Grill. Tell him Rob sent you over. Y'all take care! czcams.com/video/r_n6WjtRii4/video.html
Ok cool! Thanks Rob I’ll check it out.
Get you one Rob! I got one.
I love my Lodge Sportsman Grill! I need to use it more often. I also love your cinder block grill. I used to have a cinder block grill for the better part of a decade. I cooked ribs, turkeys, briskets all sorts of things on it.,
Big Lew BBQ I do too now! Made some really good ribeyes the other day! Yeah I like my homemade fire pit. I used fire brick as the base and then concrete blocks for the exterior. And of course...good ole diamond wire!
Flip the grill to its low setting. (it will make nicer grill marks) Use only 30 briquettes.(Count them).. Close the vent rail/door completely(!). These three steps will make real nice burgers on the Lodge Sportsman from my experience... good luck and keep eating great burgers! And remember, Black Cows Matter!!! Angus rule! ;-)
Hey thanks my friend for all the great tips!! You are right about 29 or 30 briquettes is about all you need. I learned that through trial and error lol! Great tip on flipping the grate...that two inches make a big difference for sure. And especially on steaks! Black cows matter lol! What do you like to cook the most on your grill??

The snow just melted and I can't wait to get my grill outside :) Thanks for sharing - TinyTrainTrack
Good luck! I hope the snow stays off and you get to grill a bunch of goodies! Take care my friend!
Great little cast iron grill. I’ve had my eye on them for a bit and this video was a good reminder for me. Just subbed and looking forward to watching your other videos.
Outdoor Indoor Texan they really are a great little grill! If you’ve been thinking about getting one I think you would enjoy it! I know we have. Thanks again for checking us out my friend!
Just subscribed. I've never had a grill like that, but I like it; may have to buy one. We do some grilling each week on a gas stove, but I do miss the smokey taste that only comes from charcoal. Those burgers really looked good! God bless.
Thanks so much my friend! Yes this little grill does a great job and smoke flavor makes the difference! Thanks again for checking out our videos! Have a great day my friend!!
I use mine all the time. I find that 28 briquettes will give me all the heat i need. Chicken 1/4, burgers, spatchcock chicken, steaks. Good video
john vincent 28 huh? Sounds good! I’ll give that a shot! Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching too!
Great video. I use mine all the time for everything from burgers and dogs to deep frying chicken and french fries. Bass Pro sells an oval dual roaster pan and lid combo. Fits perfectly on this bbq. The lid works perfectly for a skillet. Awesome for bacon and eggs.
The pan holds one gallon of oil for deep frying. Mmmmmmm bbq!!!
Thank you! Yes it’s a pretty cool little grill no doubt. I’ve been experimenting with different things and I’m sure I’ll be making another video cooking something! Thanks for watching and have a great day!
I love using this grill. I did some videos using it. Really good with the flat top that Lodge makes. Fits on it perfectly. Good video Sir! God Bless!
Paulie Detmurds thank you sir! I’m headed over to check it out now! Thanks for the sub and you got a new friend too!
Sweet review 👍.
Thanks my friend! These are cool little grills! Thanks for checking out our channel!
Practice makes perfect. This grill sounds like good reason to get a dutch oven table to use it on. I sure would like one but they are sort of pricey up here. Thank you for the demonstration, Mike
Oh you’re welcome Sean! Yeah you’re right about those tables. I’ve been wanting to get a good table too! One day at a time!
I really want one of those grills. Work great for a charcoal fired stove top to cook on and my big Lodge griddle I use on my stove top was made to fit on there! 👊😁👊
Yeah Corey it would be handy for you. It worked pretty good for us too! I will be cooking on again real soon I’m sure! Take care buddy!
that's a great Cast iron grill and the burgers looked very tasty. take care
Thank you and they were pretty dang good if I have to say so myself lol! Be careful my friend!
Great Video. I love my Sportsman's Grill. Hit the grate with some oil for better non stick before cooking.
Great tip my friend! I love my Sportsman grill to and I've learned to grease that baby up before cooking on it! Thanks for checking it out. What do like to cook on yours??
@@MrCastIron Burgers, Steaks, Chicken, breakfast and anything and everything. I also purchased the fish fryer by Bayou Classic. I use that to fry and bake on my Sportsman's and it has a lid that doubles as a griddle. Check it out. It's a must have add on for the Sportsman's Grill!
That’s cool! I’ll have to check that out! So what do you bake in it?
@@MrCastIron bread. And baked chicken. Anything. Also if you turn the bottom of the fryer upside-down it becomes a lid for your grill. You can bbq as well.
@@thelivinlegend1 I heard that! Fresh bread sure sounds good right now. I need to start cooking on it again since the weather is starting to warm up!! Hey, I sure appreciate you, my friend, and I hope you stay in touch with us.
Hi Mike, can’t get a Lodge Sportsman here in the UK, too expensive. Just received today a BBQ Toro Grill, exactly the same as the Sportsman, going to try it out tomorrow. Thanks for the tips on Charcoal. Stay Safe 👍🇬🇧
Oh well that should work just fine. I’m looking forward to seeing what you cook up first!!
Thank you baby for making my favorite burgers. Just like I remembered! Good job Mr. Cast Iron!
You’re welcome! Will have to that again soon! Nothing tastes better than food cooked outdoor on charcoal or open fire 🔥 🔥
