I personally liked Professor Layton, especially when we actually got to learn more about Layton himself in the third game.
I know, the parts with Layton angst are the best
I love Layton's backstory...until Azran Legacy decided to be a madlib and everything kinda went to crap
The third game hits so hard because Layton is the one who keeps everyone calm and grounded so when he emotionally breaks, so do you.

@@usermcskull4713 agreed. Tbh, I feel like Miracke Mask and Azran Legacy were really unnecessary. I did enjoy playing them, but they're so focused on trying to be marketable by having even more dramatic backstories, weirder settings and 3D visuals. Even the puzzles are just weirder versions of old puzzles. For me, they really lack the charm of the first 3-4 games.
This makes me realise that the curious village was one of the more normal games

did anyone else get this game when they were entirely too young to figure out any of the puzzles, and then played it again once you were older and still couldn’t figure some of the puzzles out??

Me! I couldn't finish the first two games (though I was very close ok both!). For the third, I was sos sucked into the story, that I pulled up Google on some occasions
And they don't even mention that Luke someone has Doctor Doolittle powers. In the first game, he just seems to get on well with them, but no, he holds actual conversations with them.

Say what you want about the spin off, but I played it as it was a Phoenix Wright game, and I liked the puzzles so much I'm intending to make that the next series of games I collect

That moment when you realize that "everyone was just high on swamp gas" was the plot of _two_ of these games (including the Ace Attorney one, where the weirdest solution was that the clothes the victim was wearing got caught on the murder weapon that was then hoisted up on a rope). When's the case of the really big dog going to get a game?
Also, when are they going to make that second season of the Katrielle anime into a game? Why can't we have the "Where's the Professor?" mystery solved a) playable and b) English-dubbed?

There is indeed a second Layton movie I believe, something about "Treasure Relics"? It involves Lady Layton and it might even be part of the anime-- I haven't watched the anime nor the second movie, so I can't say for sure.

I absolutely adored this series. I’ve watched the film, played all of the games at least 3 times-unlocked all the extra content, I have yet to watch the Katrielle anime because I’m not an anime fan. But the music was fantastic. This game was my childhood.
I feel so reassured when they said "likes SAT questions" because yes the riddles do require brain power but also some of them are pure bs
I remember playing the first and second game during primary school and early high school. One of them had a huge myserious tower you had to climb and a cutscene where a ferris wheel chases after you. The other one had an old man who thought he was an eternally young vampire but was actually just an old man high on mine-fumes. I think I liked the first one better, overall but i remeber the vampire scene in the second one being pretty epic.
And then there's me, who recently started playing Layton again😂😂😂
I like how Inspector Chelmey is Detective Gumshoe.
I love it. But now i want to play layton again...

Yes! I absolutely love the Professor Layton series and this made me laugh alot after spending hours on a single puzzle not wanting to spend hints until giving up and consulting google
(funnily enough the ones I spend the most time on are the sliding puzzles (the ones where you have to slide around a bunch of oddly shaped stuff to get something from one end to the other) beacause some of the math problems are pretty easy imo)
Aaaaaand professor Layton is still not in smash...😔

These games can make you feel like the smartest person in the world or the dumbest in a span of a second. I love that LEGO faced professor.

It did. It's been uploaded on CZcams, but some episode have subtitles in English, in Spanish and in French, so its hard to watch the series if you don't know all three languages well. I've watched some of it, and its a partial retells Katrielle Layton's story. It also suffers, which I think Katrielle's game suffers from as well, as a lack of stakes. It was very episodic. That said, if you don't mind that, you might enjoy it.
