    I'm happy this happened. We've had the very best QBs (Baker, Kyler, our current 5 stars) and we haven't won a semi-final. We need a defensive-minded coach so we can play some real D and run the damn ball. Defense still wins championships, see Georgia.

    WTF sums it up quite well! It is a shocker, but overall I actually feel like this is a blessing in disguise. Yes Lincoln is a bright mind and he has won a lot of games for us. But he also walked into a really good situation. He did not have to rebuild OU (which he will have to do at USC). I do not think we are necessarily better now than we were when he started. The culture has definately become a lot softer under him and I also think that many defenses are catching up to his scheme. Maybe his head was not always in the game due to all of this, but the offensive production has regressed. So far he has not shown me that he can adjust (in-game too). I am even glad that Grinch will most likely follow him, along with some of the other coaches too. This gives us a chance at a complete overhaul, which might be for the good in the long run. Especially with the SEC move coming!

    • @johnl5350
      @johnl5350 Před 2 lety +6

      Just think back to the game in Lawrence. You can't convince me they even had a game plan. The team was epically unfocused likely because their coach probably wasn't even physically present. He spent way too much time "recruiting for Ou" in California for that to be true. His story today is just him trying to save face. He didn't just decide today, he was waiting for the season to be over. His own personal worst case scenario would've been if his team went to a playoff and won. The man is a spider, spinning his lies at us like he did to every recruit he told he was here for the long haul. Personally, my loathing for who he turned out to be will never cool. I'm still bitter about that onside kick call at Oregon in 2006. I'm gonna be pissed about this a lot longer.

      There’s a reason the sec teams are built the way they are. To compete with bama. They don’t build these high powered offenses, they stop em with defense. And they win their games. And they’re physical. Something Oklahoma has been lacking for a few years now.

His offense looked shaky as hell this year. If he is a genius, not getting much out of highly recruited wrs and qbs makes me question that. Either he road Stoops' coattails as far as they'd take him then stole the towels, or he really wasn't doing his job.
      I mean shit, he spent tons of time recruiting for USC, why would he do more than the bare minimum? When you discover what you thought was healthy flesh was cancer all along, you have to get it all out and burn that shit.

    Lincoln is young guy from a small town in Texas. He probably took Caitlin On recruiting trips to the coast and just liked it there. I was stationed at Los Alamitos so I understand the appeal. It’s hard to drive the PCH from LA to Malibu and not like it. He got starry eyed.
    USC probably started grooming him for this a long time ago. USC doubled the money and he knew OU wouldn’t match it. Simply put it was a Gold Rush move.

He apparently wanted the easier schedule & to play UCLA, Washington, Oregon State. Out there he can be the man,in the SEC,he can be one of the men. He can make more money, which he would've received here @ OU. Basically he'll have an easier schedule. All I can say is good luck & good riddance,didn't even have the guts to tell anyone ahead of time. And waited until the last minute to pull the rug out from under everybody,even Joe Castiglione.Teddy & Gabe are right about the way he left,instead of finding out. Couple things. You said Lincoln did a good job. I completely disagree. All of his success was built off of Bob’s recruits and him inheriting a perfect situation. Lincoln’s game managing cost us a title shot in 2017. I firmly believe Bob Stoops is the better coach and that Lincoln Riley got progressively worse each year. Also you said Oklahoma is going to be just fine. How? Basically every good coach in college football got extended so there isn’t anyone to hire. Not to mention him most likely taking OU staff with him, and some OU players. We also are going to have almost every single top recruit we had decommitt from us. Lincoln Riley imploded the OU program on his way out and completely disrespected the service Bob Stoops did him. I really don’t think OU will recover from this. That’s my honest opinion and it pains me to say it. Look are former blue bloods like Nebraska, USC, Miami, and Texas. All of them said they’d be fine and that their program is above regressing to that level. But they weren’t. This is fucking catastrophic. It fucking kills me to say it and be so pessimistic but I’ve seen so many other programs fall it seems to be only a matter of time til OU has fallen. Fuck Lincoln Riley, he is a straight up bitch.

    I've been positive all season long about our team. We were top 5 in recruiting for 22-23 seasons. Rome wasn't built in a day and I think Coach Riley is going to regret his decision in the next two years. If an analysis was done of Coach Saban and how long it took him to build up Alabama based on recruiting, I think you would see that it would be paying dividends in year 5 thru 10 of a coach's recruitment. All that aside, OU isn't just a good school for football based solely on who is the head coach We were an offensive powerhouse long before Riley arrived and we have had some outstanding defenses over the years also.. I welcome seeing us play in the SEC. I don't care if we get chili whomped for the first few years. We are going to come out much better for it based on competition there. I wanna play Top 10 teams all year long, every year. #BoomerSooner

    Cost of living calculator says that $8,000,000 a year in Norman, Oklahoma, is equivalent to $13,400,000 a year in Los Angeles. In other words, he needs to make $13.4 million a year in LA to maintain the same lifestyle as he does in Norman. Good thing he wasn’t looking at Cal or Stanford (San Francisco Bay Area). He’d have to make $18.1 million a year.
    Basically, it’s the same amount of money. Thus, that’s not the driving force. *I’m under the assumption he was given $15 million a year for ten years. I think Hoover reported that.*

I’m sure to check and see if they’d be interested in going with him. I liked Lincoln and honestly understand if he wants to coach somewhere else. USC still gonna probably have to beat the SEC to win the natty though so with Lincoln’s style of play USC probably won’t have any more success than OU had against the SEC under his leadership. OU should go old school and build the line of scrimmage, run the ball, play action and play defense then y’all will be in a better position to be able to finish the job when you get the opportunity; which is never gonna happen with Lincoln regardless of where he’s coaching. The SC fans are as die hard as we are. The difference is, LA county has about 4x the population as the state of OK, and the fan base is pulling from that population. USC is one of the few programs that is always a few years from a national title if led the right way. USC is in a talent-rich region and will be an almost lock in the expanded playoffs. OU is about to be lost in the crowd in the SEC.

    could be wrong about the PI but when I watched that play in slo-mo it really looked like the WR was pulling that arm of the defender , but it think it is easily going the other way just how i looked at the body motion looked more like the WR trying to sale contact cause the DB really only moved his arms when he put his hands up in the air lol idk still was a great night of football
