    "Being a little black girl in America is like being raised in a house where you don't see your pictures on the wall" that's deep and no truer words have been said. ‼️💯💯

      A lot of black women wear wigs and extensions to feel “glam” so Ofcourse these little girls will not see their natural hair as a sign of beauty. It starts in the home, if there’s no healthy hair representation in the house, they won’t find theirs as beautiful either. Middle schoolers/high schoolers already rocking their lace wigs

      What's ur method for detangleing now if you don't mind?

    • @cathyfreeman8608
      @cathyfreeman8608 Před rokem +1

      @@CJ-yh6pk great question. On wash day or the day before, I take a water bottle. Add 3 to 4 drops of conditioner into water (depending on how much water you are using). I spray each section of hair, finger detangle and seperate the strands first, then run a medium tooth comb through to make sure there are no knots. Pull out any shed hairs. Then wash. This has helped me greatly. Also be very careful when shampooing. Massage the scalp gently. do not massage in circular motion. Do not rake the shampoo through your strands to prevent causing the strands to get tangles. Hope this helps.

    I transitioned about six years ago.. I have very tight curls and so the hard part is detangling my hair. I got to about three inches and I did the big chop I couldn't deal with the two textures. It's still a struggle today because I don't like to do hair and the shrinkage is real(I can go from 3" shrinkage to down my back flat ironed) .. and I've considered a relaxer again but my stylist won't let me lol.. good luck to you being natural takes alot of effort and patience but well worth it!

    I think this process is somewhat easier mentally for people like myself who grew up in families with relatives who at times wore natural hair in its natural state. More recently I have noticed a lot of my younger cousins also went through a phase of wanting straight hair all of the time because of peer pressure but now they enjoy both. They have watched myself and other relatives do it all their lives.

I’ve got some decent length now and I love the way it looks and feels and I love styling it. I wish I knew then what I know now.
