      @@helixjc actually they have a lot of things to pay for. I'm currently at WDW are they I would like to tell you something. The very last day of Halloween (both WDW and DL) after the parks close and everyone is asleep, EVERYBODY immediately starts to deconstruct everything. They reuse the same decorations every year so they can't screw them up. They from 10/11:00 pm UNTIL 8/9:00 am the NEXT day (Nov. 1) to decorate EVERY park for Christmas. How you going to pay those people? What about the characters? Cast members? Disney will NEVER let something wear down. If it's fading, chipping, cracking, stops working, whatever it is, Disney works immediately to fix the problem with. Refurbishments take place to endure that everything looks brand new even if it's 30+ years old. How should you pay for those again? Oh, let's not forget about the amazing food, but don't worry they reuse what food doesn't get eaten into fuel to run buses, but how do you pay for it all? Let's not forget what the man who created it all. Walter Disney wanted one of many things for Disney, for it to NEVER be finished. Because as soon as you think you know what you're doing, they change it. Because it's business strategy that a lot of people don't understand. So next time you ask why is Disney expensive, remember that they employ more than 30,000 employees in just Disney World alone, and that there are Disneyland California, Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, and World. Plus Cruise lines as well.

      @QargZer Před 5 lety +19

      @@MorganWideman I highly, highly doubt Disney does it all in one day. Six flags spends 3-4 months preparing for Christmas, putting lights on trees etc. No one notices the lights or other hidden in plain sight decorations until they are turned on. I can nearly guarantee Disney does something similar. Disney has a lot more money so they can afford to do the final swap in a few hours and likely have better storage where they can store the props nearby outside guests view.

    My first (and last) time I was there, was with my family (mother, father and my two sisters) when I was 19 in 1967.
    The "setting" for this experience was that we were in LA for my sister's (a high school senior from Milwaukee WI) American Harp Federation's convention during which she was competing for a full tuition scholarship to the Eastman School of Music which is located in Rochester NY (equivalent to getting a scholarship to Harvard or Yale, but for music) which she won and after graduating, went on to being the harp faculty at the University of Denver, played in the Denver Symphony and was the "first call" union harpist in the Denver area.
    So while we were out there, we did a lot of sightseeing (this also being a major family vacation, first and only one out there).
    We wanted to go to DISNEYLAND!!! Remember Walt Disney World in Florida didn't exist then.
    This was a huge deal!
    We had been indoctrinated for years by the most important and seductive social influence EVER!
    The TV presence of......THE WALT DISNEY SHOW (every Sunday) ....AND, THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB tv show five days a week shown right after school starting during the middle fifties when I was in fifth grade (age 10).
    EVERY grade school kid would RUSH home to watch transfixed, on our black & white picture televisions. We knew all the songs, each day of the week's format, everyone had their favorite Mouseketeer, and the short mini-series bits with the Mouseketeers acting out the compelling sub-teenage dramas (and recreating them with each other at school).
    BUT the most insidious aspect of the show was that (which never occurred to us at the time) it was a six day a week brainwashing indoctrination brilliantly conceived by Disney.
    Every Sunday one of the featured elements of his program would show the plans and development of this idea of an amusement park on a scale never conceived before. It was fascinating, the ultimate tv commercial that held us spellbound.
    So by the the time it opened in 1955 (I was 8yrs old), the whole country of kids wanted to go there and begged their parents to distraction to go.
    So there I was, 12yrs later, still interested in wanting the Disneyland experience.
    I was somewhat doubtful, but it exceeded any of my expectations!
    I "got" it! The whole ambience was amazing, no shabby "state fairesque" food, souvenir and exhibition stands etc.
    EVERYTHING was substantial high quality places and spaces. Lush landscaping, water features, streams, ponds and no sleazy well-worn amusement park rides. It was all first class (and this was still 12yrs after it opened). One could literally eat off the streets, no gum wads, cigarette butts, food wrappers, bottles cups or cans etc. It was a revelation even to a 19yr old.
    The rides were also substantial, well-conceived, creative, and set the standard for all such facilities forward. We all loved it!
    And Disney did the same in 1971 with Walt Disney World.
    My wife and I had our honeymoon there in 1993, took our two kids several times in the mid to late 2000's. We all really enjoyed the iconic family vacation experience!
    My wife marched with her high school band in the mid-70's and and I was a band chaperon in 1984.
    Fond memories..........thanks for "tuning in".

    I definitely have something to say about Disneyland. My own kids felt bad when they saw people who had been waiting even longer in lines for rides then they did only to get to the front and watch 75 people go past them because of the "fast pass". I realize they paid more but I think they should get rid of that stuff all together and here's why. When I was a kid I was fortunate enough to have parents that wanted us to experience going places for vacation. They didn't have a lot of money but had to save all year to even have a semi decent time. One of those places was Disney Land. I am sure that many because of the high prices have to do the same. We waited in lines as a kid but so did everyone else but it was fair and the experience was great because you were their like everyone else and doing the same things. I thought to myself while waiting in line this past June 2019, how discouraging it is for kids now to wait all that time only to get to the front and have to wait even longer because of the "fast pass". If anyplace on earth should be fair it should be Disneyland for all kids and adults alike. The other thing that surprised me was Disneyland was turning into every other theme park. It wasn't the special place that you can remember. Even 12 years ago I went and I always saw people cleaning, painting, picking things up. Obviously with the "fast pass' the almighty dollar comes first and pride in the park, fairness and the happiest place on earth has now joined the ranks of selfishness. The Mata horn for example, I saw they had painted the roof but the gutters also had the green color on them, yet they were mostly brown to match the wood. Trash in the planters and al over areas that were meant to be looked at with freshness. The whole day for myself and two kids cost over $500.00 including a meal. A small fortune and even more for a family that doesn't make half of what I make. I'm not asking for free anything, I'm asking the Managers of Disney to think about Walt Disney himself and what he would say if he would come back and see his Disneyland now. How is it that a place that other theme parks aspired to become, now look at as just another profit park? Tim Thornton

    I first visited Disney World in Florida as a new sailor out of bootcamp. It was $24 in 1986. I took my daughter, and her family to Disneyland in 2012 it was a slightly digestible $72 with a military discount. A lot of the popular rides were inoperative including Space Mountain and the Matterhorn . 2019 new grandchild wants to see Disneyland and the price has gone off the charts. $125 a person no, military discount. That is corporate greed for you they’re pricing themselves right out of competition. Mr. Disney would be turning over in his grave because he wanted everyone to see this park. The military helped to build its popularity. The prices are to high. I am middle class. The wages did not keep up with the price increases. That place will eventually close due to greed. Maybe that’s the plan.😯They rather have a fast dime than a slow but profitable nickel. Yeah I’m going to take my fun at a park where I get my entire family in at a reasonable cost. Someone needs to go back to why this park was created in the first place. For a 4 -12 Year old child it is the funnest place on earth. For adults it’s the magic of sharing it with them. Disney is entitled to increase prices but they should lower the prices back down to where customers come back . Or maybe they don’t really care. Look at the drop. Great Video guys. I’m interested to see where this goes.👍🏾

    This is surprising to me. There should be more people there. It is the height of the summer vacation travel and tourist season and you would think there would be more people there than what is documented in this video. I can distinctly remember going to Disneyland for my high school senior trip back in the late 1980's and the place was absolutely packed all day long. The wait in line time for Space Mountain was well over an hour and that was at 10:30 in the morning. I also went out there 4 years later when I graduated from college as I had a job interview in the Socal area. I was supposed to fly out there to LA and then go to my motel room and then go to the jobs interview the next day. So I managed to hop on an earlier flight and I so arrived in LA and I got to my motel room at about 10AM which was located not that far from Disneyland. So instead just staying in my motel room all day and watching TV and lounging by the pool I just decided to spend the day at Disneyland, since it was not that far away from the motel that I was staying at. Again the place was packed and the wait time to get on many of the rides was a lot longer than what was shown in this video. This time around the wait time to get on Space Mountain was over 2 hours if not more. So this is not good for Disneyland. It may not be able to sustain itself with this kind of low level of customer foot traffic.

    Has NOTHING to do with the price hike! It has everything to do with some of the season passes being blocked out for most of the summer! DL's primary visitors are locals with passes. Now that they're blocked, less crowds. I think Disney thought a ton of people from out of town would buy tix for the SWGE Launch and they didn't. Probably waiting for the one at WDW instead.

    • @Anthony-xe5db
      @Anthony-xe5db Před 4 lety

      Right. I live in the area. 30 minutes from Anaheim. I know Fullerton and Anaheim like the back of my hand. Disney World is a major tourist park...you always hear of people coming from others states planning big week long vacations. Disneyland is more of a locals park. I know people that will say "Yeah, might go to Disneyland for an hour or two to see the new parade than head home." Locals buy the annual passes even the cheapest one instead of the one day tickets. Attend it enough times with Southern California pass and Deluxe and it pay itself sometimes five fold. You get a lot of locals from Los Angeles to Fullerton to Buena Park to Anaheim. I know people (and myself) that just jump on the Metrolink to Fullerton and take the OC 543 bus right to the park entrance. So Disneyland has a lot of locals. Once the annual passes are blocked...the park is not as crowded especially on the weekdays. I believe Disney thought a lot of tourists from the western states would attend from out of state for Star Wars....it didn't pan out, and they had put heavy restrictions on annual passes thinking crowds would be unhand-able. So they try to fix the problem in May but introducing a new Annual Flex Pass (instead of removing or hick up passes they actually add one for a change) that is basically like the S California Select except you can try to reserve days ahead of times (a limited number of spots) that would other wise be blacked out even on weekends. I always believed if Disneyland dropped the annual passes...all of them...the park would be like this most of the time during the weekdays and non-holiday seasons.

      I know! So ridiculous! Come on Disney! All you need to do is open up even just some blockout dates for us dedicated fans who are passholders...this is an easy fix...but they are just being stubborn or proud or just trying to get more money out of us (or at least it feels that way). But honestly, Disney is making a big mistake because we would show up and spend money if they would just open some dates up! The AP's will come and pay for parking and drinks and snacks and meals and souvenirs and collectibles...all thats needed is some dates that are open to us this summer! But no, we do not want to pay an extra $100 to get in on top of what we are already paying for a pass because Disney can't be bothered to fix their blockout calendar/empty park situation and OPEN SOME DATES UP!....I'm sorry, that is so not cool!
