This is beautiful, well produced, & memorable. The lyrics are based on the experience of Duncan's friend, who had a girlfriend that died very young. It's overtaken Russia as the bookies no.1, for a good reason. He's great live too.

If you knew the story behind the song you would be heartbroken. It involves a friend of Duncan while he was in rock academy that was dying. She had been in a long relationship that had ended. She kept hoping until the end he would come to visit her one last time. He never did. That's what the song is about. It explains the video clip too.
We knew nothing about the songs when we first reacted to them but now we are aware of it and think that the story is very emotional.

I was gripped with sorrow upon hearing this. Same thoughts here because I love Luca & Keiino but Duncan is really so strong that the last time I heard he is already leading the polls. I think Duncan will win the trophy in Tel Aviv.
There is so much more to my country than Amsterdam. I, for example, live in a beautiful small historic city which is worth a visit too. If you want to get to know the real country you have to go to other places than Amsterdam!
Having said that, we are very excited about the song of Duncan! I listened to 2 live versions of the song and it touched me.
Duncan is indeed not very known, he participated in the Voice of Holland. Ilse Delange (one of the singers of Calm after the storm) was his coach and recommended this song to our national committee for the ESC-entry. It's about a lost love and not be able to cope with it.
We have yet to explore the rest of the Netherlands, though we have friends in Eindhoven that we want to visit soon! This song will do very well!

Another happy fun unknown fact about the Netherlands: On the 25th October 1616, a Dutch sailing captain Dirk Hartog was the first recorded foreigner on Australian soil when he accidentally bumped his ship into the unknown "Great southern land" on his way to Indonesia. He left a pewter plate with an inscription of his landing. In 1697, another dutch sailor Willem de Vlamingh bumped into the same spot, swapped the first pewter plate with his own & took the original 1616 plate back to Netherlands, where it can still be seen in Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to this day. The landing spot is now called Dirk Hartog Island & 400 years later on the 25th October 2016, one of Hartog's direct descendants visited the spot accompanied by the King & Queen of Netherlands. ok now I'll stop boring you with fun facts lool..

First, they said right now. It can always change. Second, aren't people allowed to have different opinions? I get what the two of them mean, for me Switzerland also clicked quicker. However, after a short time The Netherlands passed it (and is my 2nd now, with Switzerland being 4th). But both are amazing in their own ways!

Hope you guys bought tickets to the competition (if you are planning to be inside). It's super hard to get tickets....
We did try for tickets but they were so expensive, we didn't want to pay that much out of principle. We will be in Tel Aviv and we are sure the atmosphere in the bars and pubs will be just as good! Will we see you there?
@@ToyAndGoy Yes, I have heard Israelis were complaining about that too.... I know they had some troubles financing the event and loan money from the government or something, and there was a big mess around it in the beggining. hopefully they will sell cheaper tickets in the second round. It's fun but it's more like sports to me I guess, because many pop song aren't really my musical taste... so I just watch the ones I like and the scoring, on TV, haha . There's a chance I will be working in the states at that time, but I will probably watch it through the internet somehow (maybe I will watch you guys , If you are doing live reaction on something haha). I am sure you will enjoy your time in Israel even if you don't get in! Btw, they may be showing it on some big screen outdoors for the people that can't get in (but that's just my guess, I have no info on that!).
There was a lot of angry talk about the pricing, yes. We are sure we will still have a fantastic time, Tel Aviv will be such an exciting place to be for the whole week. And yes, we will definitely be broadcasting some videos from our trip! We hope you get to watch it if you are away! We watched one of the semi finals in Lisbon last year and it was incredible, mainly because we loved all of the songs in that semi. But, you're right about it being like sport! There was a really lovely friendly atmosphere between everyone there as they were all there to just have fun and enjoy themselves!

It`s a good song, but I don`t see it as a Eurovision winner, most likely at the top of the table though. I think a lot of people are touched by the video/song combo who won`t necessarily feel the same about, as you say, a guy alone on the stage singing a very slow, emotional ballad.

and , honestly the vocals were not so impressive and it kind of bothers me, as a huge Amy Winehouse fan that he just lifted the Love is a losing game theme right out of her classic , apart from that I also find the verses a little monotonous . I don`t hate it or anything but, for example, the first time I heard Soldi I went straight to Spotify and downloaded it and, not long afterwards every other Mahmood song I could find. This just did`nt have that effect on me..I guess it`s just a matter of personal taste , I wouldn`t be angry if this won ( though obviously I`m heavily in camp Italy this year) I`d never watch the contest again if Iceland won, for instance.
That's the reaction we are looking for from a first hearing, that desire to immediately want to hear it again and again!
