  • I had the pleasure to ride and review the Begode A2. I used two different electric unicycles: the infamous "assassin A2" that cut out, currently owned by@roghaj, and a demo unit supplied by Next Gen Mobility. Spoiler alert: I was afraid to like this wheel, but it won my heart. Watch to see why!

    I mean I'm a newer rider and I learned on the mten4. Rode it to work 15mi round trip every day for 5+ months until I got the mini bull. I understand why people say its a toy however after putting 1800mi on the mten4 I have a hard time thinking about it as anything other than a wonderful machine

      It is a wonderful machine! I regard it as a toy due to the very different way it rides compared to other EUCs, but I'm glad you get so much utilitarian use out of it and it's been so reliable and useful to you.

      @@WheelGoodTime you're not wrong about that. I can't lean to accelerate on the mten4 pretty much at all and have to use my toes/torque on the unit. I also have it set to tiltback at 19mph and I ride the tilt the entire way. I was feeling really unsafe by it and so i got the mini. The first time I looked at the floor to go fast was really something. You can put your body in front of the mten4 but not really bend. The ride dynamics are entirely different but the mechanisms behind it are the same and do pass back and forth. The only issue I had at first with the mini was that it was so damn heavy respectively that it was awkward to get on. I'm getting better at mounting and its still heavy for me a little bit. I am rather small. Have a hard time getting good torque onto the unit with the pedals/pads but with how much I can lean over it its fine for now. My top speed is 41mph which is good for me. The advantage for me for the mten4 over the a2 is that with this nice weather the mten4 sortof lives in NY trunk right now. Usually because I forget to grab it mind you, I feel really bad that its become something of a second thought. So whenever I'm forced to drive I always have a wheel and it takes up basically no space and I feel confident enough to ride at a rreduced speed with reduced gear. Its like an edc thing; I don't leave the house without it unless I'm on the mini. And trust, i have a bag that's purpose made for holding the mten4 if I wanted to.. I would. Thing is weightless. Its convenience is worth every penny of its small price tag. Was much easier to convince the wife for new riders. I think wrong way actually said in his video about it that he was worried because of its sick looks and low price tag that it would draw in new riders that would be better suited to not this. But I feel like the ones that do get it will transition well to a faster wheel if they even need to. If you could put a better motor or more batteries in this package I might not have upgraded. Even the 750wh does more speed than me T.T and mind you even the 20mph that I get is flying compared to some of the earliest wheels people still ride today

    I live in the UK where it is not possible to buy the A2 Begode wheel, so I ordered it direct from China on AliExpress and six weeks later it finally turned up. At first the charger supplied with the wheel didn't charge so I bought a replacement from Speedyfeet which arrived pronto and at last I was able to ride the thing. I have to say I agree with this review that it is a delightful wheel to ride especially off road until one day it just stopped working for no apparent reason when I paused for a moment to check a text on my phone. Fortunately I was close to home because I had to carry it and at 22kilos that is not much fun. I opened it up took it to an ebike technician I know and there was nothing to see and no visible sign of damage. I am trying to get Begode to send me a new motherboard but they are implying that it is because I have ridden it through large puddles and on muddy tracks that it has broken down. There is no sign of water ingress and the wheel runs smoothly once the mosfets are disconnected so as far as I can tell it is another electronic failure and everyday I am in touch with the seller of the wheel in China but without success. So as things stand I have an £800 load of junk when all I want to do is get back to riding it, at 73 years of age it is one of the few pleasures I can get. Heres hoping🤞.

      Thanks for the complement@@devili190 . I have got the wheel working again but only after paying Begode £148 more to send me a new motherboard, which was fairly easy to fit and off I went able to ride again. I am annoyed with Begode who claim I had misused the wheel and allowed water to get into the electronics despite the fact that I showed them several videos of the perfectly dry interior of the machine - I think they just wanted to get out of paying for their faulty machine but not being an electronics expert I can't prove it. Meanwhile the wheel is still working fine and is great fun to ride, as ever.

    Thank you for the video! I think we all benefit from analysis of when people have had cutouts and injuries. I'm not as tech savvy as Roger so I wouldn't trust taking a diode out but it tells me in a very layman's sense that begode does not have the robustness of tech as, say, Inmotion. Great videos! Keep it up!

      @yinshah3303 Před 5 měsíci

      I might be off but I remember the diode is on the battery management chip, whatever effect it has on the battery performance must not be immediate and likely won’t effect the performance when he’s only “testing”,shorter rides on it.

    I see the A2 as a good little errand wheel. The MTen4 seems more like a fun little play thing that may be good for hauling out the trash or something, but from what I've heard you get death wobbles like crazy on it, so the MTen4 is definitely not a beginner wheel. It's nice that there's a compact option in the A2 for that.

    Nice wheel. Although, as a User, I did not know you had to gave a certain angle you could lean your wheel. However, I also think it inexcusable to measure temperature on a mainboard and let it get so hot, it catches fire. I thought we were past that point.
    I do agree, though, the A2 is, at least on paper, an amazing machine and makes me excited for the future wheels of Begode!

    I've been trying to decide if I should buy a Sherman S, V13, or V14 and it's been quite challenging to find any incidents of fire on these wheels. When it comes to security flaws, its usually Begode or Kingsong wheels it seems. I'm transitioning from a Ninebot Z10, which I heard has been quite well designed, so I feel like I can trust it, but then Sherman S with 3600 Wh seems like quite a powerful fire bomb if something goes wrong, especially since there is not battery temperature monitoring and some say there is no waterproofing on the controller board. :/

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  Před 7 měsíci +2

      There have been zero fire incidents from any of those EUCs, and not a single battery fire from any EUC model since the Kingsong S20 (now called the S22). You are pretty safe choosing any of those options, depending on what your intended use case scenario is. You can buy any of those with confidence that they won't burst into flames. The days of current generation EUCs having battery fires is over. 😊

      @@WheelGoodTime Thanks for the reply, it's quite reassuring to hear. 😃 My primary need for a wheel right now is for longer distance travel, both for personal leisure and for grocery shopping, all while ensuring comfort for my knees and lower back. Given these requirements, the Sherman S seems like a good purchase, especially considering I tend to ride at lower speeds, which should minimize maintenance needs.

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  Před 4 měsíci

      Those were 3d-printed, I'm not sure by whom. In order to get those pads on, you have to cut off the built-in (not very good) pads to create a flat mounting surface. On my personally owned A2, I don't have the heart yet to cut off those pads, in case I mess it up 😂 If you know someone who does pad 3D printing in your area/country, there's lots of designs that you can choose from on thingiverse. 😊

    I've been teaching people for years, I use MTen3 and MTen4 as my primary tools for getting people moving if they are having trouble with bigger wheels. The notion that riders of bigger wheels find little wheels challenging at first isn't relevant; we go the other way. The little wheels are easier to ride at low speed, gain confidence, and then transition up to bigger wheels once they feel comfortable riding at the necessary minimum speed. Also, I've been riding without gear and without incident for seven years going on eight, 25,000+ kms, no plans to change that.

    Please stop bagging on the MTen's as a training wheel. It is the perfect wheel to learn on. low center of gravity, low pedals and low power. The issue is when you graduate to bigger wheels the MTen's will feel scetchy.

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for your feedback. I still would never recommend an mten to an adult learner, because the writing mechanics are completely different. Since you have to put the weight of the wheel on your ankles on an mten, as opposed to the calf region on other eucs, it's a rather different learning experience. I'm not saying that those wheels are bad, it's just different by comparison, and the a2 is about the smallest I would go for recommending to an adult learner. Again. It's not a bad wheel, it's just in a different category because of the different ride mechanics.
