Captain #3 had a great sense of humor. I wonder if Polly was blushing a bit after he gave her his answer. Architect #3 was an attractive woman. Very strong features of her face. These videos are great because unless you are older and watched the show in 1958 live, you can play along. Thanks for the video.
Cute comment about Polly Bergen by the tugboat contestant.
If they all split $1,000 , who gets the extra penny !!!!????
The IRS
Wolf whistles for the gymnasts when introduced--a blast from past!😊
Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill is still in business.
Actress Anne Baxter was the granddaughter of Franklin Lloyd Wright, one of the questions none of the contestants could answer.
When it was demolished in 2021, the Union Carbide Building was the tallest peacefully demolished building in the world. A taller skyscraper with the same address, to be completed in 2025, is being constructed on the site.
SPOILER
I was convinced the Canadian athlete was #2, because she had this unmistakable young female athlete look o her face that is so timeless. Turns out she was, indeed, an athlete - just not the right one :)
Hurray for Captain Polly! 5:40

Loved that No. 3 captain 😅
Celebrity Guests:
1. Polly Bergen
2. Don Ameche
3. Kitty Carlisle
4. Hy Gardner
Host:
Bud Collyer
Don Ameche replaces Ralph Bellamy in the second TTTT chair. They would later become the Duke brothers in "Trading Places" (which is sort of what they did on TTTT).
Polly at 21:36: "Don't they have English accents in Windsor, Ontario? Or is that French?" My goodness, how did she ever avoid being blonde? I enjoy her anyway.
Alan Follett they speak English in Windsor. It across the river from Detroit, Michigan.
its in the part of Canada South of the US
alan Follett she does that on purpose doesn't she, trying to seem cute and endear herself to people
It happens that Ms. Bergen was a very fine actress and played opposite Gregory Peck in the film "Cape Fear." She sounds a bit distracted at times. Many very talented people are.
Everyone was so rude to the gymnasts.
#3 in the second game looks like Betty White, (did at that time).
Spoiler for game 3...
I guessed the wrong girl based on the thickness of her legs but she turned out to be a figure skater so makes sense.
I can't quite make out what one guest identified herself as, but her name was Rita Hunt and it sounded to me like she said she was a writer specializing in poetry. She was one of three women, two of them posing as an architectural designer, and quite striking. I was an English major in college...I would have loved to have had her for a professor.
Yes, that's what she said.
Interesting that the bio said the real architect was married and has four children, something females are unlikely to announce these days.
Not my mother, Donna. There were four of us.
Does anyone know if Bud is wearing a hair piece !!!!????
NO WAY !!!!!!!!!!
where's ralph bellamy this week?
oh hokay thank
Came here from 99% invisible. who else?
I WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE RESCUE AND WHY THE TUGBOAT CAPTAN LEFT THE MERCHANT MARINES
Ernestine Russel
Gawd, blonde girls are all muscle aren't they?
Gee I don't know, Tony. Both my wives were brunette and they were pretty strong.
Trampolines were invented in the 1930s. I am surprised that Kitty not only mispronounced the word, but didn't seem to understand the concept.
My dad used to pronounce it that way; also Vaseline with a short i sound rather than a long e sound in the final syllable. In other words, it was pronounced the same way as the last syllable in margarine.

Just acting and messing with everyone?
Annoying and obnoxious whichever it is.
