      For Halfmoon Betta that size is good enough cause their fin is heavy and if swim too much will lead the tail to drop as it heavy and their bone will start to get weaker. Most cases they bite their own tail.

    Alright, so. I'd like to give some information on breeding these guys. There's A LOT to know and I see a few things wrong. I want you both to have success, but I'm very sorry. But there's a very high chance you will not be successful. You can get the fish to breed but caring for the fry and what they need is the most complicated and difficult part. I'll try my best to go through as much as I can to help inform you guys.
    1• these guys are a okay pair, male has nice finnage (looks Halfmoon to me personally) he has alright form, scaling looks okay. But one thing, there's a very high change that this male is a marble betta. Which means over time he might change from white to having more blues, reds, blacks, and all sorts of other colors. I'd probably grade this fish just from looking at him breeding qauilty, you guys did a good job looks wise on the male from what I see in this video. I could be wrong. Now to the female, she's also alright. Her form isn't ideal, and her finnage could be better. Overall color looks nice, scaling looks alright, and she has wonderful Dumbo ears. Both male and female are still small. Now this brings me up to conditioning and getting these fish ready for breeding.
    -
    •2. Conditioning your betta pair:
    From what I see both male and female are still young, the male still is growing out his fins and most likely as a whole (I can tell due to the transparency on the ends of the males finnage, indicating growth). The female also is growing out too, she's still small and needs a good amount of time to grow. I'd say feed this pair good foods such as; frozen blood works, beaf heart (< for growth), frozen brine shrimp, qauilty pellets, and other frozen foods. Feed these at a pretty good amount everyday with a heated aqaurium(

    Oh my god. This is cruelty. You put them in 0.7 gal tanks! And after the rocks went in it would have averaged around 0.5 gal! The MINIMUM for a betta to THRIVE is 2.5 gal, with 5 gal and up recommended. "we did our research" my a*s. Also, you even said in the video when picking out the tiny tanks that "all that matters is that they are happy". They cant be happy with those tanks with no filter and no cover to hide in. Ill let you pass with not giving them heaters since im pretty sure you said that you live in Florida. But seriously, spend 50 dollars to buy 2 5 gal starter tanks with heaters and filters and buy them some plant decor so they can hide. Your fish will be so much happier and most likely live much longer.

    • @labella9291
      @labella9291 Před 5 lety +3

      Not true. What they need is CLEAN WATER. Keep their water clean and give them some enrichment and they thrive. Yes. Larger is better. But don't let your emotions get the better of you. Some of the best, most beautiful bettas in the world were raised in half gallon jars. How do you think they keep those gorgeous Thai fish on Aquabid?
      And they are healthy enough to come halfway across the world.

    • @parakeeet5721
      @parakeeet5721 Před 5 lety +8

      La Bella they still need larger habitats than that. A fish may be very healthy but not thriving in a tiny tank like that. Think about where they live in the wild, free to roam in absolutely huge spaces of water compared to the tanks we give them.

    • @parakeeet5721
      @parakeeet5721 Před 5 lety +1

      Slide POV 2 Gallon is still very small for any fish. Just think of where they live in the wild. You should upgrade your betta when ever you can to a 5 gallon and it would be happier with much more room to swim.

    the long finned male bettas need atleast 5 gallons. 10 recommended. long finn3d male bettas like the delta tail, halfmoon and such. and before breeding you need to have all the proper equipment first like a minimum 10 gallon breeding tank, a sponge filter and airpump, heater, proper water parameters for breeding and raising fry,live food for the frys, 1 gallon jars to separate the males when they grow up. but before all that you have to ready the male and female for breeding. fatten them up by feeding them proteins like bloodworms. they have to be in proper health and in mating mood before breeding because they can both die from exhaustion. also you need medicine coz there would be fin nipping while breeding, you need a separate quarantine tank for that.

If you breed fins like hm, delta and superdelta you should make sure it got as few rays as possible. If you don't know how to count that you probably shouldn't breed tbh. A reason why breeders prefer breeding quality which are more expensive.

    Thanks guys - your enthusiasm is infectious. I too have gotten the betta bug recently. I didn't do my homework before getting one and started out with a 1 gallon for my female betta with built in sponge filter. I then did some homework and got a heater. The tank was just too small, so upgraded to 2.5. Well - I realized that that was too small and now have a 6.5 planted tank that I am cycling. I'm in my 2nd week of cycling and it will probably take another 3-4 weeks to complete. In the meantime my poor little girl is in a 2.5 gallon tank with heater, sponge filter, and some plants and a betta hammock. I have a variety of foods like daphnia, blood worms, brine shrimp, 'bug bites', and if I am able to kill a fruit fly or get a mosquito out of the bird bath, I feed her live or freshly killed insects when I can. I still only have the one female betta because I don't think I could handle getting a bigger tank to accommodate more females. I want her to have a good home and thrive.

    Okay I’m no expert, but I know that you should at least have a heater, and a 3 gallon tank, or even bigger! You should also acclimate the fish to the different temperature before just throwing them in! One gallon tank! That shits crazy it’s no better than the cup they came in!
    I’m a little in between with the filter thing though, my policy is that as long as you make sure to change the water frequently to avoid too much ammonia in the water it should be okay, but if you have a filter that’s also great as long as you cycled it.
    Shouldn’t there also be some live plants in there and places for them to hide?

    If I were you, don’t breed them until you do some more research. The ezcare tanks are great at hospital tanks or holding tanks, that’s what I use them for because they have the handy back for easy water changes. But it’s not good for a active healthy betta. Trust me, I made the same mistake when I first started the betta hobby. Each betta needs at least 2.5 gallons, including lots of plants, a heater, and a filter. And if you plan on breeding them, the tank should be at least 10 gallons and covered top to bottom with plants and ornaments. As they breed you need to watch them the whole time because Bettas are very aggressive and can decide to fight to the death at any given time. Also be aware that breeding your bettas, may result in one of the pair dying, and if they live it usually stortens their life span. I’m so attached to all of my bettas, I did soooo much research because I was thinking about breeding, but in the end I just didn’t have the time nor did I want to take the risks. Breeding bettas and then raising fry is a full time job.

    Make sure to do a bunch of research before breeding them! Especially having things to take care of the babies afterwards! Such as brine shrimp and then jars for the jarring stage! Some good channels to check out are simply Betta, creative pet keeping, and lifewithpets! All good channels who have bred Bettas and are very informative. The tanks you got for them are quite small but with frequent water changes they should be fine (since you also have a heater and filter). But a note for the future, the minimum permanent tank for a Betta is 2.5 gallons, 5 is ideal! Also you’ll probably be best to wait a little bit before breeding, especially just to be sure they aren’t sick! (Also have fun watching the white one change color, they very rarely stay white as they are in the store as stress changes their color!) but seriously, good luck!!

    You picked out very beautiful fish! I've been keeping and breeding bettas for 13 years 😅
    As you saw in some other comments, they do need bigger homes. Cramping bettas in too small of a tank can cause fin rot and other bacterial infections (bigger tanks are easier to maintain!!) Also they need decoration and places to hide, filters are a 100% must, and a heater helps alot. Bettas are tropical and need their water to be between 74-81°F
    Do as much research as possible before breeding or it can go terribly wrong. Breeding can be very complicated and fry can be very hard to care for when you are unprepared.

They kind of remind me of Brian, but with fish instead of snakes. They said that they are definitely upgrading to bigger tanks. You should my tanks have an air pump and filter plus there's a plant and a place for them to hide and I do a 20% water change and then once a month clean out everything yeah I also have stuff to keep the water with good bacteria. I do a pretty good job with what I have. I have water dechlorinator and I've got aquarium salt when needed. I also have a bottle of good bacteria that way when I put a new sponge in at the end of the month I can have good bacteria to work with. most importantly I've got a good quality of food and I don't overfeed my betta's they each have their own tank and I've got a frog as well as a cat

    It's actually kind of hard to breed them as the male and female fight with each other a lot. I attempted to breed and the male killed the female, unfortunately. But they are gorgeous fish!! ❤️
