How I Filmed Transitions - UA:LA | Before and After BTS (Heiki)

- A look into the transitions from #UALA -- Transitions (or stitches) are hidden cuts between multiple shots to give off the illusion of looking like one continuous shot.
I'll try to do more BTS videos like this in the future 👊🏾
Also shout out to Heiki's actor, Jay Kwon, for being ridiculously consistent. Made my job so much easier lol
#bnha #mha #anime #liveaction #plusultra - Zábava
Filmmakers -- Feel free to download this video and try editing the transition points for yourselves with the raw footage. It might be good practice. All it takes is a bit of reframing and a good cutting point. You might even find better points than me 👀
Da real mvp teaching ppl and giving tools to do so
Amazing mate it’s a real masterclass, thanks for sharing those tips !
Thank you so much! I'm learning to edit on Premiere Pro, and applied to UCLA's TFT out of the hope to work with talented people like you and this stunt crew! 🤩
Thank you man, I was wondering that the rushes looked like for this for agess
Man oh man! You are such a blessing, thank you sooo much! (Someone who looks up to you)
I still remember the first time I saw UA:LA and was amazed at how absolutely pristine these transitions were. No fan flare or masking, just real a mastery of the craft. Thanks for showing us how it was all done! Big shout out to the actors too, it was a joy to watch
I won't lie, half the reason I rushed to see Shang-Chi was the fact that you were involved. Your quality is always top notch and I genuinely can't wait to see whats coming next, whether it be more youtube or big screen work. :D
Wait what???
Jup.
Watch the corridor crew react for more insight.
Hold the fuckin phone, WHAT?! Am I about to go watch Shang-Chi?
Bout to go watch Shang-Chi I was uninterested till now
@@prototypedc you will not be disappointed
Man these are so fucking cool. Gonna have to rewatch UA:LA now lol
Same thought man. I was really hoping for more episodes but I get how busy he is
This is brilliant! I watched this several times and I’m still amazed how you pull this off. Thanks for the breakdown
No cap. He legit cloned his camera movements! 😩😩😩😩
If this crew gets involved in an official anime live action. I wouldnt complain at all. Pure talent.
The process seems awesome to make this a reality; forethought in the story for how some powers might be displayed on-screen (or a fun on-screen idea that turned out to be useful to plug into the story), and then creating choreography and studying martial movements to plan ahead for transition points. Not to mention the camera on top that blends it all together consistently. Really awesome, fight choreographers, stunt people, camera techs, everyone's got my deepest respect :)
Those transitions are the definition of CLEAN
Everything about this short is so amazing. Not only do you capture the spirit and style of MHA perfectly, all the actors do so well to develop their characters with what little time they have.
Seriously good shit.
Cache was easily the best quirk in the short film. The transitions with each weapon was awesome. Anyone know what the song playing is called?
I think it's from one of the Mha movies, but I'm no good with names and titles.
When it comes to those transitions, I will always get hyped!!! Those transitions are so sick! Keep up the good work!
That you guys were able to recreate the same camera passes multiple times and match it with the actor's movements each time is mindblowing.
Chris: I'ma reveal the trick.
Also Chris: The trick is that we're all _that_ good.
I still can't get over how fluid these edits actually are. Using someone's arm as a wipe cut inside frame makes it look so natural it's unreal. I may have to have a go at this kind of edit myself and try and tie it into the project I'm shooting next year.
Can't wait to see what you come out with next! Your signature style is such a huge inspiration for me.
BRO real talk years ago when I found Dead Fantasy Series (RIP MONTY BTW) I found your channel unmatched choreography for YEARS glad to see you guys popping up on my notifcations again.
Monty was the GOAT. I really wanted to work with him back in the day. I'd love to do justice to a live action RWBY in the future.
Even after the showcase behind the scenes, I'm still blown away how I'm still having a hard time trying to connect the transitions. Masterful work! Can't wait for that juicy episode 1 drop!!
Is it official!???😱
@@NILO_GIJS I hope so! UA:LA Episode 1 will be legendary!!!
@@bobthebuilder8110 Indeed. If money is a concern they could always start a GoFundMe or something of some sort. People will be happy to chip in. They even managed to do the Pilot without any expensive costs (other than equipment and talented people). Normally there'd have to sets and CGI and whatnot, but this looked pristine and well-crafted without much being spent. I bet fans would even be happy with minimalist sets if this quality continues (although creative-block and burnout could be issues, so I understand if that is an issue).
Honestly, the synergy of seamless transitions coupled with the dynamic camera movements were probably my favourite parts of the whole UA short.
Those transitions are smooth muah
This… is… INSANE!!! Mad props to both your camera work and the actors who were able to do the same moves multiple times perfectly! The actor playing Heiki made it look so easy, yet if someone like me were to try to do that, there would be a blooper compilation that would be as long as the film itself!
Keep up the amazing work!
I'm still hoping one day this film comes back cause everything about it was something, from the choreography, story, characters, and cinematography.
The camera work is what im impressed with more, zipping back and forth like that repeatedly in the same manner is amazing
Honestly, id love to see more U.A L.A episodes. It's the best thing I've seen in a long time, and you should be proud of it
BROOO your transitions were clean AF!!!! keep going my guy
Amazing work. Huge fan.
FINALLY!!! He's showing us his secrets!!! I think you are one of the most talented stunt coordinators and camera visuals out there and have always hoped you would do some tutorials
Yes! Thank you! This is amazing. Virtually every interest or hobby I've ever had has been driving by an insatiable desire to know "how it's done" or "how it works" so I absolutely love this kind of behind the scenes look into film making magic. Fantastic!
Gah dayum so clean. Camera movements are so consistent, it's crazy
This is some great bts, very helpful!! This short in my opinions is one of the best anime live action renditions. Thanks for sharing!
That transition from Katana to Bo was so filthy smooth bro definitely had to rewind like 10 times
MAN! This is definetly the best fam made I've ever watched!!!!!!!!! Its just awesome!!! Hope to see more. Thanks for the break down!
Thanks for this insight! It makes those sequences even more outstanding to watch!!
I can't wait to see what your future projects are. You are a talent to watch.
The edits are so smooth! It's what really brought this to a new level. Not just for Heiki, but all the edits!
it's so nice and smooth. Really high quality stuff! Love it!
This is a prime example of why I love editing.
flawless. been a big fan of the channel for a long time and i cant wait to see more
This is amazing work, can't wait to see another full video of you. I hope it'll come soon enough :)
Thank you so much for this breakdown. This was one of coolest things I've seen on the internet. Truly inspirational and helpful, especially for me just starting to do my own shooting.
Those transitions are so clean!! And Jay does so good keep the motion just the same each take!
This is the best original live action ever created from anime for now and for a very long time, in terms of story, and visual effects. In just 15 minutes or so, it totally feels like a cinematic movie. To me, nothing will beat this any time soon.
Literally the video I was waiting for, I love it
thank you for resources like this man you're a huge inspiration to me, you should be in charge of these studios with millions of dollars at your disposal to achieve your vision and adapt the IPs you are passionate about, you produce better content than 90% of mainstream Hollywood
This was so interesting to watch!!!!! I loved watching the final result but seeing how it's done before just shows how much dedication and finesse goes into this. Like the cuts are so quick that they look so seemless. Seeing you talk about it on the Corridor Crew channel has been eye opening. Like doing the same actions with the different weapons is so smart and sick
When I first saw this pilot episode it touched me and actually pushed me to never give up in life and start working out to better myself, thank you guys for all this hard work bc it definitely payed off by touching the world like never before 🙏
This is great! So much work going into this
Guys your really awasome!! . I hope to continue seeing more of this series
I was wanting to ask about this on set recently! Thanks for making this video! 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Always look forward to your videos 👌🏾
So freaking cool, thanks for sharing the bts!
Still have notifications on for this channel and have no regrets
you're the best, guys!!! thx for all your work
So well done... it's amazing what's possible if you have good actors, cameraguy, director, scriptor and cutter. All of you guys are awesome!
AMAZING stuff🔥 Time to rewatch Episode 0 for the 100th time haha
The BTS stuff is so interesting to watch, thank you for sharing!
Shang Chi was hella dope and hope only the best for you in the future!
such a master at your craft, you make some of the most entertaining action being released these days
Good shit brother 👊🏻 always love your work
This is amazing, thank you so much for these BTS videos it helps so much to see how you make these fights!
The editing was amazing but the actors also did a good job!!!! They make it so real!
What a skillful man and a skillful producer. Love the work. Its so good.
Finally!!
This is truly beautiful!
I love Heiki's quirk in this video and always love to see it changing time by time!
Amazing! You make these seamless cuts seem so simple! Inspiration!
Can’t wait for the next anime live action you put out.
Yo thank you for this! You are the best of the best!
Bro you are a master . This is some of the coldest shit ive ever seen from an independent filmaker and the techniques behind em are so simple but take alot of precision and knowledge of the craft to execute it as clean as you did. This is inspiring thank you
I still amazed by the transition. The editing make it flawless.
Awesome! These are so well made.
Yo this is insane! Huge props for everything about this
After all this time the behind the scenes! So awesome!
I love the transitions.
After watching the videos I just watched them again to look at those.
Really an incredible job.
Yes, those are unforgettable!
the transition looks smooth because the actor is precise in his movement
i cant tell you how much i appreciacte this :o!!!!!!
soooo clean!!!!
till now i thought you could only do this in anime :D
YOUR WORK INSPIRES ME MAN!
Beautifully done!
Anime to live action has always been underwhelming in my experience. But this?.. *chef's kiss
i've never seen something so oddly satisfying in a while
Mind = BLOWN. Brilliant camera work and flow. Gonna need to borrow inspiration form this for my next movie trailer chris!
Heiki's FF7 Sephiroth's Masamune still is the coolest weapon transition. Still amazed everytime i rewatch the video.
Bro this is so dope!
You rock so much man it's insane
I don't see to many people asking questions, but I'm so interested in how you got consistent movement, because when I played with the footage it really cut together much easier than I thought it would. Before I saw this I really thought you needed motion control bots to get this to work the way it does! Great job!
Tooo Smooth nice work my man, keep it up ninja
I love your work so much, thank you for the BTS look.
I really loved the quirk of the guy with sunglasses
it was pretty creative ngl
WHY IS THIS SO CLEAN!!!! Dude you’re stuff is on another level
Uuuuuugh. I need more of this. This project is amazing and it's fantastic to see a live adaptation that's worth being excited about.
Damn looks so good! crazy that it's all so practical, it looks and feels so smooth I always thought there was a bit more Visual effects going on. Thanks for sharing! Would love to see more BTS, you are talented and skilled!
God Tier editing and camera work right here bro!
excellent work, thank you very much for showing how this production was made.
Honestly all of the choreography in UA:LA is phenomenal and what you did with this guy's scenes just makes it that much better
Yess! My favourite Character!
So keen on more!
I really want a full on series of this, the editing is so smooth and clean. Looking forward for future videos.
whats pissing me off is the amount of........perfection the transitions are .......im like.....holy shit
Every time I catch a bit of your work, it leaves me wanting MORE!
Hell yeah! The transitions are genius! Watching the episode I never would have guessed that there was overlapping choreography and overlapping kamera-movement (in that case also choreographed) involved. No wonder the transitions look so fluent in the final result.
I still hope that you get the chance to actually create an official life-action spin-off.
Also Jay with Nun-Chakus is my favorite. He looks like he's about to bitchslap Nathan xD
Damn bro! That's a lot of work!
Amazing stuff!
the camera work and editing on this is so good! those transitions are fucking flawless man this shit genuinely amazes me so much
This video does not get old. Amazing through and through.
broooo that is badass! definitely gonna have to try transitions like these one day!
Such great and precise camera work 😃
This is so damn good. Those transitions are so clean. It was a really clever way you did this instead of the traditional ways. Can't wait for more.
That was so sick , and the actor was great as well EDIT: just realized the actor even had a part in lucifer...my favorite netflix show
Cant wait for you to teach us behind the scene of the teleportion! Thank you for this video too!!!😆
