It's not oly off roading, but USFS and ski resorts. They've sold out to the big corporations and the cost of a permium ski ticket for a single day is outrageous. The cost is more than outside the average young ski enthusiast. You have to go to work for them at poverty wages just to ski or ride bikes. So, you've also put you hand on the extension of what Big Corp Ski Resorts are currently doing, BLM, USFS are reaping much dollars from these leases... thus, the highest bidder gets to set the rules of the leased land... no longer public....
Biggest problem with BLM land is that it chokes the ability for us to grow a combination of green space and affordable housing for our kids. Apartment complexes and high density housing can't be the answer becsuse there's nothing for kids to do other than sit inside in front of a screen. Kids, adults, and seniors all require green space and a connection with nature. While BLM land is useful for ranchers and off-roaders, 68% of Utah being off-limits to development keeps everyone stuck in the I-15 corridor. Using a multifaceted approach from smart people who think outside of the public school prison, we can solve this.
Pretty sure with the rulings last year from SCOTUS on the EPA, the BLM’s ability to enact this kind of rule will be met with tons of lawsuits as the BLM has to go through congress to make laws. 100% agree that the out of country money is screwing things up in the environment just like it has with the elections. Sadly we face a similar issue out east here in Georgia. A 15,000+ acre WMA(Pine Log) was gated and closed to the public cuz the family rejected the buy offers from the state. Now it’s gonna be sold and turned into a giant industrial park and 4000+ houses.
