No doubt about it, California is expensive, especially San Francisco, but you could have gone around the corner from the hotel and that same $14 beer would have cost you $4.00. Location, location, location!

As a European (spain) that lives in the US and also I have lived in France, UK, Finland. Safety is one thing Europeans have wrong about the US. In the US there is crime, yes, but it is extremely localized, unless you are in those particular neighborhoods, you will barely see any crime. While in Europe you will have more chances of getting mugged or robbed. I feel safer using new york ' subway4than paris' metro. Waiting for a bus in plaza Castilla in Madrid at night has been way scarier than Waiting for the el in Chicago. I was a travel guide for many years when I was in my 20' s and early 30's so I had the chance to travel all over the world, and the US never felt unsafe. Again, avoid those bad neighborhoods and you will be fine.

I live in an area that I have seen listed as supposedly being dangerous due to high crime. The thing is if you look it up it is far and away property crime and that includes stupid stuff like kids throwing toilet paper in trees or eggs and stuff like that. The sort of things that are technically property crime but if they cause any monetary damage it is very little and nobody feels unsafe because of it. The entire state of TN has a murder rate of less than one per day so if there is any kind of murder or shooting or anything it is big news and it is almost always some sort of domestic thing with family or spouses or something. In my life I can only remember two incidents where it was multiple murders that weren't domestic and one of those made the news for like 10 years where they talked about the anniversary of it and the other one was where somebody from out of state got off the interstate and went to a truck stop and stabbed a few people which was super weird. That single crime resulted in a 25% increase in the murder rate for the year for a city with hundreds of thousands of people.
As much as a lot of the news media likes to hype up crime to get people worked up to keep them engaged so they can make money the fact is in 95 to 99% of the country your chance of ever being involved in a violent crime are virtually zero.

How many times have you needed to put out a fire in your home? Yet you still keep a fire extinguisher close by, Makes perfect sense.
Most people will never have to use a gun for defense once in their entire lives.
Also you have to realize the 2nd A was not written for hunting or home invaders.

@danielh.5116 that explanation couldn't be more perfect. Loved it and true a 100%. That is another misunderstanding foreigners have about the 2nd amendment. Also 32% of Americans own guns, is not that all of us have them. When i go back to Europe to visit friends and family, they have the impression and truly believe that everyone has a gun depot in their houses. To be honest, It's hilarious and also sad at the same time such the level of ignorance .

Part 3, Part 3...Thank you guys for coming to America with a completely open mind. People like to bash America, and these are people who, themselves, are usually scared of leaving their own comfort zone, scared to travel and have never actually been to America. Consequently, they want you to be scared like them. I hate to say it, but Europeans tend to be way more pessimistic than Americans, which is something I really struggle to understand. It seems you tend to be super focused on what could go wrong, especially people in the Germanic countries. With that type of mindset, how do you explore? how do you innovate? how do you pick yourself up and start over when life knocks you down? It's good to see the the Beesleys are not like that!

my city. I live about 20 miles west of Charlotte, and yes, they have more crime than we do, but that's the case in all big cities, I guess. And I never see people wearing guns on their bodies. I guess people think guns are all over, and I guess a lot of people have them, but I never see anyone plainly showing they
have a gun. Of course I live in what's known as a "safe" neighborhood, but we have lots fewer crimes in out city, I'm glad to say. If you come back visit North Carolina. We have the Great Smokey Mountain National Park, part of the Appalachian chain of mountains; they extend from Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada to central Alabama in the United States, covering a distance of about 2,000 miles (3,200 km).

I would generally say that for the average visitor with relatively few exceptions America is quite safe. Much of the violent crime is over personal disputes or drug turf in areas where the average visitor is very unlikely to go unless they are seeking out such areas for some bizarre reason. The top 50 most dangerous areas are generally areas that have been pretty bad for a long time and are definitely not major tourist attractions. Even locals living nearby don't typically go to such places either.

I think we warn people as far as safety because there are some dangerous areas. If you get off the beaten track, it could mean trouble. If you are in touristy areas it generally won't be a problem. Although, some places are going downhill pretty rapidly.

literally any nearby convenience store or grocery store has virtually everything they sell at like half to 2/3 the cost

Panda Express is one of those places that some locations are great and some locations are meh. Definitely worth trying again the next time you guys come to the US and maybe ask your viewers where the best PE is in whatever area you go to to give it a fair shot.

We don’t have a Panda Express here but three small local and even though all different all so well done.
Living close to the border it’s not unusual to have visitors from Canada ask for info and personally have never heard anyone give them a hard time with help, one lost man I had follow me out of the backroads when his road was blocked and couldn’t follow his directions to his destination, the smile and thanks made my day.

About the flags and the pride in America, I've heard many in the UK and Scotland say the same thing, they just don't see that over there. Well, I don't know about that. I was watching the Scottish Tattoo performance, and it seemed like a heck of a lot of people either had a Scottish flag in their hand, or painted on their face. I was a bit shocked, after all I've heard.

As an American, Panda Express is not your best Chinese food. Decent for fast food but the mom and pop spots are waaaaay better. Also try Ding Tai Fung next time when ur in Cali.

As an American, I was so upset when I saw you guys go to Panda Express. Their food isn't very good, and the portion sizes are just tiny. I honestly don't even understand how they stay in business.

If you get a chance it would be great to see you do a reaction vid of American cocktails. I have heard from other Americans that went to the UK that US cocktails are much better because we use more alcohol and mix it differently. Where you buy the drinks makes a big difference in price.

Hotel restaurants and taverns are always extra expensive, as you're paying for the convenience, not just the service. On the other hand, you typically find a coffee maker in the room and free packs of coffee for them, and you can get extra coffee if you ask for it, along with free toiletries, shampoo, toothbrushes, extra towels, etc.
