Nvidia is simply just out of touch with everything they interact with lol, those poor engineers doing all their hard work and having it be discounted because of upper management
Yea basicly
Can't speak for everyone's situation, but chances are most of those people would easily find work elsewhere. That's why I left my previous company, upper management was just too greedy and out of touch.
As long as the engineers get paid what they want / need to get paid everyone is ok
same as games currently
What are you talking about? They know exactly what they are doing. It's like saying Apple is out of touch with its customers because they price their devices too high.
Nvidia acting this way is why EVGA got out of GPU's. Nvidia is only getting worse and will only continue to get worse. Nvidia is going down the road of apple, i fully expect Nvidia to not even have board partners after maybe 1 or 2 more generations.
How are they doing an apple. Apple hasn't done any of this
@@MalHerweynen I mean, Apple has been known to use reviewers as a marketing machine, blacklisting ones who were criticizing their products harshly enough.
Was thinking the same, any board partner selling nvidia cards is just giving them more money to build their own factories and replace them.

So many people in the business world make their way up the corporate ladder through the sales department pipeline (instead of engineering, accounting, production, etc.). High level salesmen are willing to say or do things that would shock you. A former co-worker of mine went into sales (it was a very good fit for him) and I was amazed at the BS coming out of his mouth when I talked to him later. Nvidia acting the way they do is no surprise...
Any examples of what he would say?
i want to know too, give us an example
Its not completly BS when they have the sells, stock value and profits to back up their strategy. For stakeholders nvdia is making 100% the right move. If amd was a competition they would need to reevaluate but their marketshare is loughable
Anyone trying to climb the ladder(including engineers ect) will say or do anything to further their goals. That is how corporations want their business run, so only the ruthless get to the top.
Salesmen. The knights of capitalism or Satan's toenail clippings.
A very valuable life lesson is, "If you don't advocate for yourself, no one will." Same thing with companies and sponsors. If you don't stand up for yourself and ask or demand something, they certainly won't give it to you.
Bigger problem, nvidia will probably bring about the AI apocalypse given their attitude, etc.

As we here in the UK would say, NVIDIA is simply up their own arse.
The impression I get from LTT, Hardware Unboxed, Gamers Nexus etc. is that these tech companies are forgetting the difference between journalists and advertisers. They want to go to the likes of Linus, give them hardware and get a positive advertisement in return. As if they were hired to make an ad. That's not what LTT/HU/GN/etc. do.

As a company owner, I'm so considerate to my customer's needs. Sometimes it feels like I could be making a lot more money by being unethical. But the word of mouth and feedback I get makes it worth it.
And for sure, anyone who treats retail or wait staff like trash is a shitty person in my books. Never let money change your morality.
Huh... sounds like they (NVIDIA) are use to being disrespectful but expect everyone to apologize to THEM for it. I wonder if thats how they treat their employees and just expect everyone to fall inline.
EVGA was my goto for graphics cards and now thats even dead because of NVIDIAs pressure tactics.
As someone who isn't a 20 year old tiktok addict, the improvement in quality over the years is obvious, as is your own awareness and learning. I actually stopped watching you years ago because of content which was clearly reading off the company spec sheet, and as someone who was a few years older and deeper in the gear at the time it rubbed me the wrong way. Now you could run circles around my knowlege and are far more savvy as to how to work with vendors and avoid manipulation as much as possible. I'm glad I was wrong about where you were headed and hope your creation remains independent and honest for many years to come - we've lost too many as it is.
Cheers dude.
It's hard not to get jaded about working with any F500 companies after working with them for even a couple of months. I don't blame Linus for his sentiments at all.
In the second part of the video where Linus talks about how those brand pulls their moves, is actually a good case of study for those new employees.
I wouldn't say your old contents were more quality, but I would say the presenter in those videos seems to be more enthusiastic. Nowadays, it seems the energy level of the presenter is just professional.
PS: Is it PowerColor? Just guessing because der8auer release a factory tour video too.
Their regular videos have been fully scripted for the last several years whereas before they weren't.
Yeah at the end of the day linus is still/was the bossman and sometimes bossmen need to lay it down and upset some people there's a reason he's managed to build lmg to what it is.
Linus is good at not apologizing
I would say he's pretty good at apologizing when it's justified, but you're just a hater so you're likely not going to respond
I notice this a lot when I try to be nice to someone I paid and requested support from. The response typically isn't a rewarding of me being nice and understanding by giving me what I want and paid for, but a sort of "OK, we can keep ignoring you then until your patience finally snaps" mentality. When I finally do snap and stop being nice and understanding, they themselves will either start ghosting me or start acting passive aggressive.
I deal with this a lot in my company. Regardless of how good I am, something that happened long before I joined the company can still be an impingement on relations.
Well, this title aged badly
I would say it aged perfectly fine so long as it's messages viewed in the correct context, because the specific situation you're referencing I would say Linus data apologize and it was a good one and he did act on what he needed to act on. However, for what is being talked about in this video, an apology to Nvidia is completely unjustified so he's not going to do it
I look up to y'all man. Love listening to u guys speak.
You haven't done much sponsored work with Nvidia, but there was a while in there where it felt like you were doing quite a lot with EVGA/Zotac/Galax/MSI, which may have given the impression that you were working with Nvidia.
My question for Nvidia is what your plan after you drive this AI boom into a bubble? They sure don’t care about having good customer relationships, their ok leaving their partners to try and sell their bad product. So what’s their actual plan? Just hope that this new bubble with make them infinite dollars or that their will be infinite bubbles for them to jump to.
Well AI is in it's infancy and it's not a scam in the way crypto was. If you're waiting for them to fail then you might wanna sit, because it's gonna take a loooooooong time.
It’s up to AMD to compete more in the gaming gpu sector, it’s been reported Microsoft and other tech companies are working with AMD to develop AI GPU’s to compete with NVIDIA.
AI isnt really as much a bubble as crypto. Crypto had no support, as we say in the stocks world. It was just a funnel and it ate up all the "cryptobros" who had no idea what the hell they were investing in. AI does actually have its uses, but for now it doesnt have the support for its huge hype, but it will if the AI progress continues.
@@sack8439 Do you think AI (or rather, ML, if I wanted to be accurate) will be scaled up infinitely? Right now the goal is to oversell it as much as possible. Put it into everything, and later down the line, in the long term, people will somehow deal with the effects. Figuring out where it works and where it doesn't and transitioning to the new technology safely and efficiently isn't profitable in the short term, so they just don't do it.
But eventually hardware sales regarding AI will slow down. I mean, how could they not? I never thought it was going to be as fast as crypto was. It will probably be a slow process, and by that time, neural interfaces might be the new buzzword to sell on.
People who talk about AI like its even remotely comparable to crypto are living in a fantasy world.
Even if they were comparable, the ridiculous amount of money Nvidia made off of bit coin was well worth it. And literally nothing happened to Nvidia post crypto fall that changed their trajectory anymore then not being involved in Crypto would have.
Linus won’t apologize.
You have gotten so wise Linus. I know I'm far too naive to be running any sort of the operations you are always wanting to giving people the benefit of the doubt. It is really good of you to school your employees in such valuable lessons.
Why apologize to a company who basically screws over customers based upon demand thanks to all the farmers who made demand shoot through the roof? I’m thankful I haven’t bought an Nvidia card since before all that garbage. I’ve been looking at all alternatives to Nvidia since and I’m not in a rush to buy, so that helps
I think this is important to knowfor work in general, everyone is trying to make the most money off of the least work. Either coworkers or bosses or other companies will try to push field work onto others and take half or more of the credit for making the decision or ordering the action.
I wish I knew which AIB gave them the round around about the GPU production line... I have my suspicions. It's obviously either MSI or Asus, since he said they went back and instated did a segment at the Gigabyte booth.
Linus is sticking to his guns with the GPU lines. And also honoring his word of line or no deal. And that’s how it should be.

I am thankful to you, J2C's, GN, Hardware Unboxed (Go Aussies) and others are trying to keep things honest.
The way they promise stuff reminds me about coworkers do the same
You ask them for a meet, they accept and minute before it should start they just email you that they cant come in. And only when you stand your ground, they really come
I can't believe that Linus would be such an AMD shill that he'd refuse Nvidia's generous and friendly offer of a fresh start. This is an outrage!
Yes, this was indeed a joke.
he is clearly a nvidia hater. he is a spreader of negative energy, never saw the positive side of the story. I don't like that. I likes to see the good side in the people, rather than negative side
Der8auer did a gpu factory with Powercolor. He seemed to have pretty complete access. He sounded actually surprised about that level.
Love LTT. Much respect.
This reminds me of the GN story in which Steve & crew were told at the door of a producer in Asia that they needed to sign a NDA before entering. They said, okay then, see ya. What followed was, in the theater of my mind, was a bunch of business suit-clad Asians chasing them down the hallway saying, "No, it okay, come back! No NDA!"

Apple yesterday quietly rolled out their public domain DirectX12 emulator, which runs PC and Console games on the new Macs. Once you like the quality, you send the game into a translator and get a nice shiny native Metal game. No NVIDIA required.
But Apple itself is known for its anti-consumer behaviour.
@@Dhruv-qw7jf Yeah but Apple understands that sometimes there's easy money in doing a pro-consumer move, and it helps them maintain a decent public image. LIke this DX12 emulation, for example - they don't care much about gaming but they know if they get a critical mass of games on Mac OS a lot of users might try out their ecosystem.
@@SaHaRaSquad I would swap to that after windows 10 support ends, but only if A, they make it work for older versions of Direct X like 9 through 11, and B, if the performance is decent.

I think it's a Canadian thing, just from my experience living abroad. But that's a good outlook, in the civilian economy you gotta look out for yourself and your own agenda at the end of the day. People try to take advantage of good intentions.
Why did it take me so long to notice 'The taiWAN Show'

I've gone full AMD in my household in the last 12 months. RX7900XT, RX6700XT and RX6600. Couldn't be happier!
about the end there: the age old triangle of quantity, quality and opportunity. Some of the older video's might have been better sometimes, but not because the quality went up or the quantity changed, but because the content happened at an opportunistic moment.

They are the same in automotive. They sent a set of specs one day an next day they do not recognize that spec anymore. That is not competitive, but lack of respect.
Nvidia is dead to me. I am clearly dead to them. I am rooting hard for Intel, now. Somebody has to keep AMD trying to improve...
AMD is better then Nvidia & Intel.
@@GoatzombieBubba Well, for the one percenters, Nvidia still has the edge at the very top end. AMD is not quite there. Nor do they really care...they are in the affordable volume sales market, where they slay Nvidia performance wise. That alone is a failing business plan, but Nvidia is off to other things anyway...like world domination through AI. As soon as they buy out Boston Dynamics, we are in deep shit.
Other comments have already said this but It can't be said enough honestly, Nvidia doesn't deserve anything at this point. They're so anti-consumer, and partners for that matter that they've probably lost Alot of trust from many parts of the world, I mean EVGA is a good example in this case. Unfortunately (from a certain point of view) their products work mostly very well. Mostly, not every time though.
If raytracing wasn't important to me I would've already switched to AMD most likely. That and the vanity of having an Nvidia card with Shadowplay is the only reason I still have my card.
Yes OBS is a solid, if not better, replacement what I know of.
Disclaimer: I don't know much about AMD's raytracing performance but from what I've learned is that they're not far behind. Correct me if I'm wrong or am missinformed! ^^
Nah, they're quite behind IF you find rt very important as you said. This is coming from an RX6750xt owner.
There still quite behind in ray tracing compared to NVIDIA but we also don't have the whole line so who knows how much it will scale down
"That and the vanity of having an Nvidia card with Shadowplay is the only reason I still have my card"
AMD's Adrenalin software (which includes settings, game profiles, overclocking and fan curves, recording, and streaming) absolutely blows away Nvidia's equivalent. Shadowplay is one of the things I very much don't miss.
I owned a 2080Ti and the only feature I ever used for it was RT voice. RT is too demanding and DLSS is none native crap. Rasterization is king
AMD does have its own "Shadowplay" or you can use OBS, so its not much of an excuse there. But if RT REALLY is that important then yeah, I guess. But AMD is not THAT far behind, but enough that its noticeable.
NVIDIA has monopolistic intentions like all big companies. Proud of you for standing up

Yep. I just watched an old video a while ago and some transitions were awkward and there was a slight feeling of... say, stiffness to them. It's definitely way better now, in terms of both entertainment and information delivery.

I absolutely agree, companies with that high of a volume, definitely have trained marketing teams and support documents on each and every major step during communications with exterior partners/medias. It does not come down to one man's attitude, nor does it come down to one company executive's personality(as much as they can be influential), but directed by a comprehensive network of strategy making teams, then relayed upon individuals, namely representatives. This is not isolated to few like Nvidia, but common for most companies at similar tiers, and even smaller ones. If any media wishes to stand straight, they simply need to do the same, projecting their will against those reps until the deal gets struck, no other options. No one can afford to take on the risks of million dollar worth of interest in this setting, thus don't give any hope for companies behaving like your buddy, even reps may privately be a really nice guy and form strong personal relationships with you.
8:45 So you finally laid down the law with Dennis eh?

"If God himself came down and asked I wouldn't cut the price" CEO of Nvidia- Probably
There's a difference when a channel is small and have to play along a bit(ie: be bullied by big brands) if you wanted access. Once you've established your audience and have that influence, the priority needs to shift to protect the trust of the viewer and present an unbiased review of things. If you don't, then the path you're choosing is to become a mouthpiece for corporate interests. Your approach is to protect/inform the consumer. The issue is that's getting rarer and people misread that enthusiasm and excitement as "shilling" without critically looking at why there might be more coverage of a particular brand(more specifically, how trying to remain impartial can look biased if you don't look at the bigger picture and considering why something is done that way).
