you two seem to have a very healthy communication style - and I am so inspired by it. having an annual budget is a really great idea, my husband and I do yearly budget each year too. it looks like you can, based on what you've already planned, to finance a new vehicle and have it paid off by year end.
I feel you on the medical bills coming out of no where. My wife & I have been in a never ending battle with medical bills since her colon cancer diagnosis in Nov 2021. They stack up fast. I just began my own debt payoff journey myself. I'm using a modified Ramsey snowball method using one of the suggestions he stated on his site to boost the snowball with a side hustle. So I'm calling it the Accelerated Debt Snowball Method. Best wishes for you and yours with the budgeting.
We got a new hybrid battery in our 2010 Honda Insight about a year ago. It was around $3,000 and gave it new life, even though it has over 250k miles on it. We are saving for another vehicle, but I think we definitely bought it a few more years of life.

I’ve gotten a bill from LabCorp also but after calling (2 different times) they entered the wrong coding and the other time it hadn’t been submitted to my secondary insurance. Good luck!
The day I found this, my doctor called about something else for which I asked about the bill, and they told me to email them a copy of the bill and they can try to have it removed from my insurance. And therefore, I guess I would pay whatever they charge me which they said it would be far less 😬

Good luck with all of the unexpected finance! I had trash insurance last year and I also got a separate bill from lab corp that I had to pay on top of my clinical bill
Many times they make mistakes ask for an itemized receipt to make sure there are no mistakes
This video was right on time! I’m literally going through a similar decision in regards to my vehicle. The decision to repair or move forward with a new vehicle. I have no idea what direction yet definitely don’t want to make the wrong decision. I really need to sit down and go through the scenarios just like you. Thanks for sharing your process.

It is interesting! I’ve been shocked to learn that the plan doesn’t cover much of anything. Once I learned that it didn’t cover an annual pap smear, I realized that it was definitely pitiful 🙄

My question about this video is: Why not trade in your Prius and put down a deposit so that the payments won't be high and you both can pay it off within 12 to 15 or 18 months 🤔? It's just a thought. I'm hearing you. My 2023 budget & finances are definitely not going to plan! Really did not expect my partner to be taken into hospital at the opposite end of the country on New Year's Day, or needing a new roof on my house because the old roofing felt failed (the house is only 22yr old)

If what is true? That the Prius is dying or the price to repair? The Prius officially stopped working Thursday night which I think was the day after I filmed this video 🥴
Please check with your dealer about possible recall/service bulletin issues on the Prius, if you haven’t already. The hybrid system on many older models had a problem with its software, and due to that problem, there were lots of battery issues. My husband and i have owned several Priuses, and we got a notice from Toyota months
ago about making claims to get some money back. The software issue apparently caused the batteries to not work as they should. Anyway - check for service bulletins using your VIN.
Will do! I have had a number of recall related repairs in the past. One even would’ve been $3500 for me to repair on my own and was related to the battery. Luckily I learned about the recall before paying.
@@ShayBudgets Yes! We had a repair at one time that was going to be $6,000! We took it to a different dealer, and THEY found the recall and repaired it for FREE. That whole thing was so stressful. We have had other repairs related to the hybrid system for lower amounts. I still need to look into whether any of this qualify for this rebate claim.
The same thing happened to us. I took it to the next Toyota dealership, and they found the recall and repaired it.
Don’t forget to bump up the insurance for a brand new car. That can be a killer too.

has your financial advisor mentioned anything about factoring in student loan payments continuing half way through the year? Its making it hard for me to do my annual because I am not sure if they will continue and what my minimum will look like !!
They are factored in! We have been planning to pay off my husbands student loans at the end of the forbearance, provided they are not forgiven. So I have factored in my student loan payment. I have no idea what this amount will be so I have just been guessing 250 which is actually more than what it was before the forbearance.
