Thanks for showing the internal seat hardware install and the access (7:50).
Without being able to see that, I was imagining something exotic that would drop to the inside area if I backed-off the seat screw too far .

look through the holes for the seat bolts to line up the closet bolts, as they are directly above on the Studio, makes it much easier.

The only thing I like about that design is that the trap is now covered, makes it easier to clean up.

I installed one of these in my downstairs bathroom to replace a round American Standard colony and I’ve had mostly problems with it. The electronic parts stated to rust after a few moths so u had to manually flush it by pressing the button. After about a year of it being installed the seals were bad so it kept slowly leaking then having to refill. Replaced the seals and worked for about 2 more moths before the entire mechanism went bed. Every time it refilled it flushed by itself. Wouldn’t recommend this. Especially after spending over $300 on it. And just to replace the mechanism inside is already another $100. I’d recommend buying a Kohler cimarron. Had it’s for almost a year now and haven’t had any problems with it

When I was in high school I thought about becoming a plumber. My mother pointed out there would be times I would have to handle pee and poop. That ended my interest right there. 😄😄

I may be Canadian but I do like American standard toilets. ive done a few toilets like that, those are a pain in the ass to install. the bolts they come with suck and I use regular bolts. what I do is cause those holes in the side suck so much I reach around the back with a ratchet and a deep socket than go thru the side holes and bolt her down the old fashioned way. i had a call back cause they thru a party and somebody was rocking the tub and snapped the plastic nuts. but if you silicone it after that might be all it really needs in the grand scheme of things. cheers.

the "easy install" is tank bolts/seals being pre-attached, wrench and floor nuts. don't know who's bright idea it was to have the enclosed trap area and those small round holes. sized for asian hands.....
same for disposable gloves now, have to get the XL or XXL just to get hands in and I don't have huge hands. tried to put on "large" gloves at food place repair job, got my fingers stuck and ripped them in half.

Just another over-engineered piece of garbage. No need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to crappers, stick with what works. Engineers worrying too much about looks and not about the installers or practicality.
Never liked setting flanges like that for the very reason you see here. If the tile guy sets the tile tight to the flange, you have to fight to get the bolt in and risk cracking the tile. Using the other slits and you never have to worry about that. Bolt slides right in every time.

  • @jesseobrien756
