I think more than anything, this proves that when companies are less popular and have less money, they put their best effort forward, and that's what LEGO used to be.
Yup. Custom companies prove this a lot. The figures or something may cost a bit more, but that’s because they have to buy Lego parts and pay for custom printing themselves & always have less money than Lego itself to do their product…but you get a quality level that’s amazing & what Lego could do but doesn’t. So you at least get insanely good quality for the price you pay.

Ye here in the Netherlands there’s only one toy store that sells Mega, only other place you can get it is at stores that don’t do Lego

Not much difference than Walmart. When they build in small towns that don't have grocery stores. They make the city or town sign agreements that nobody else can build for a certain amount of time.

If print quality is any indication of their actual brick connection tolerance and quality, I would say MEGA is really stepping up their game.
They’ve come a LONG way since their early days where the bricks barely held together. They do genuinely compete with LEGO today, and I personally like them more, especially with the Halo line running.
i built the xbox 360 just as good as lego or pantasy

Mega construx does a FANTASTIC job on their pokemon lineup. I genuinely feel like they care about the consumer more than lego does.

Funny how Mega can print on several pieces for one design (and make it look great) and Lego can’t be bothered to print, let’s say, a helmet properly.

He’s not really into Lego from a blog I’ve seen with him and one of his friend when they went out to buy some 2020-2021 halo sets I believe
I've built a number of the Pokemon sets for my kids and my only complaints with Mega compared to Lego is that the pieces are sharper and the connections can be tight. Build a big Mega set and the tips of my fingers start to hurt. Haven't had that happen with Lego, even with the UCS Venator. But Mega goes the extra mile with Pokemon with unique pieces, custom rubber, and prints.
I have the Mega Snorlax, it was my first time buying a non Lego building set. They are pretty good, not something I'd buy a ton of, but I do appreciate they don't use stickers.

Back in the days Lego tried to sue mega for being a copy of their brand and lost it happened in the Canadian court
@@NastumaM4e1they’d never win anyway, they stole their product idea from another company, their founder even said the idea of building bricks wasn’t original just the Lego perfected it. They can’t stop any other company from doing their own building sets etc. they just sure like to try to be the only product out there. It’s abusing the court system / copyright or trademark law though cause they can’t have the monopoly like that. They just will keep trying to.

Crazy how mega can have detailed prints in $15 sets while lego still uses stickers on $500+ sets.
Mega has been better than Lego for over a decade with build quality and price but Lego has scummy business practices to force stores to not stock Mega products. You never see Lego go though even half the effort with their sets. The ucs ATAT was almost $1000, and still had stickers when mega can do a multitude of prints for even their cheapest sets. Lego just doesn't care about "only the best being good enough".

I've heard loads of excuses as to why Lego use stickers but lets be honest, its to save money. They could print everything but they don't, because its cheaper not to. 'Only the best is good enough' is very hard to justify on some Lego sets. I'm glad to see competition for Lego, it can only be a god thing!
Glad to see a creator that's not scared to show there are other brick built sets out there.If more people would open their eyes and see Lego is just pimpin all you fools that won't buy anything else.Competition is how we keep prices down with everything in our country.
Jangbricks used to and occasionally still does show other brands if het gets something he is personally interested in

Ngl I’ve seen these sets on shelves and always avoid them because idk if they are gonna be good. So seeing Ryan open stuff like this makes for a good prebuy resource
Mega bloks is too underrated
The mega bloks/ construx call of duty sets are so awesome too
The beam's angle might be a reference to how Ash and other characters would lean forward to get into a 'battle stance' during pokemon battles. So his default pose in the set could be done to make him dynamic rather than simply standing straight up.
I got an Eevee Mega Bloks set a few weeks ago and I love it, they did such a good job capturing the natural look of a Pokémon with geometrical bricks. They also made a custom rubber piece for the fur and it’s only a 20€ set! Very affordable, fully printed, and so cute.
Mega is underrated as hell, some of the Halo sets are honestly better than what LEGO offers. And the figures are better, no question

Mega is a fanatic company, they may have struggled with quality early on but now they make great products with great prints for great prices. Lego has to threaten stores to not stock mega, Lego fans if mega can legitimately put competition then yall would benefit by forcing Lego to be a better deal for yall instead of price gauging like they have been doing

Been collecting both brands for years, and MEGA is really top-tier. aside from licensing and distribution, they could give LEGO a good competitor in this space.

I’ve been collecting both Mega Halo and Lego Star Wars for years and I gotta say Mega’s quality control, attention to detail, and value have improved exponentially from where they started. They really seem to care about giving their consumers a good thought out product. Even the cheapest of sets have lots of printed pieces to add details I feel Lego would either use stickers for or simply wouldn’t do.
If you get the chance, I’d like to see a comparison and review of the Lego Hogwarts sorting hat and Mega Halo 343 Guilty Spark as both of those sets have a voice box built in. ( Guilty Spark’s also lights up )

I'll be honest, I haven't messed with MEGA blocks since I was a kid (30ish) years ago, but this nostalgia hits so hard I might have to get it. I LOVED Pokemon growing up.

Incredible box and printing on this set. Lego could learn a lot from how this company does things
I used to own many dragon themed mega sets from back in early 2000's but my love for lego starwars was far bigger. Now they have halo and pokemon for many years and I wish I had collected some of them but I decided Imma juat stick to my starwars passion since I love their build philosophy better. However, I do not dislike their Pokémon sets. And certainly appreciatw how good their Halo figures look.
The double taping could have been with Customs, since they have to deal with a LOT of Bootleg Pokémon Merch, and they were just making sure the product wasn't illegal or harmful.
As someone who prefers MEGA over LEGO any day, this is a must on my want list
EDIT: The Halo line of mega sets had the equivalent to UCS sets, and they were called "Signature Series" sets
Great video, I can't wait to receive mine in future! I'm just wondering one thing: what's the measure of the set when fully assembled? I read that it's about 32cm tall but I can't find information about the width and length.

You never used the box scenery with the model. That would be cool to see. This isn't just a pokemon thing. I'm a huge collector of the halo line I love ships and vehicles myself. it's all really fantastic. Mega no long does stickers they print every piece now. The quality for all those boxes is fantastic.

What was your favorite Gen 1 Starter Pokémon, Ryan?
It looks like the black support bar was put there to support Ash holding Pikachu. But if you display it with Pikachu on the ground I wonder if you could just skip the part installing the support piece and have Ash stand on his own. Would probably look much better too. That piece really is odd.
Lego is being outdone at their own game! So much for only the best is good enough! Megabloks is gonna start eating their lunch if they aren’t careful
They literally had to pre-open the box to make sure he got all his bags because that’s how bad megablocks suck. Trust me. I have spent a lot of money on mega block halo over the years. They are the worst.
@@Mark-nh1sj Dude you are lying. I've been with Mega since 2013 when I was a teen, I still collect to this day. 0 sets with missing bags or pieces. Never had miss prints, never had missing parts. The only issues was when the new art figures came out and some figures had backwards arms and that was it, and those are nigh impossible to find. Literally no issues and I have bought tons of sets, probably hundreds
@@Vladimir_4757 do you know how many wrong leg pieces I’ve gotten for elites in the halo Spartan bags? I lost count that’s how many. i’ve had multiple missing pieces in various halo sets. i’ve had straight up wrong pieces. lol no one‘s lying mega has horrible quality control
@@Mark-nh1sj how long ago was this? I should’ve said that as of late it is rare but it almost never happens to the point of it being a concern. Over the last 3 years of sets I’ve gotten for example, only had one figure with a duplicate arm and that’s the only issue
@@Vladimir_4757 I can’t speak for recently. I quit collecting megablocks in 2016 but I’ve never not had problems with mega in the last 30 years. I probably purchased about 25 halo sets and out of those I’d say more than half had Missing or wrong pieces. shit there was like a castle set. I got 1993 or some shit that had missing pieces.

With all the printed pieces in this $130 set, it really makes you wonder what excuse Lego has.

I think Lego stretch themselves to thin like they have multiple D2Cs releasing every month (mostly). It’s insane idk what Mega is like but it looks like they focus on getting everything right and allocating their budgets better

Buildable characters always look like animatronic copies to me. Something you’d see at a discount theme park.
This was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Looks cool, but why do I simultaneously feel like oh wait til they get a star wars license deal because those sets in MEGA would be awesome.. and... It's like building an action figure, and Lego sets the blocks aren't just for one set so maybe it's not that awesome😢
I want Mega to get the star wars license just because of how awesome it would be. Excellent, accurate detailed figures, actual blasters and not some generic vague blaster looking thing. The droids almost certainly would be articulated, less obnoxious play features and not being afraid to make new molds to fit specific canopy or cockpit pieces and other specialized pieces to make the most accurate and detailed model at an excellent price range

That is why I love mega no stickers at all. They've been doing prints since the new art figures (I think that would've been from like 2013?). Quality control is great, the figures great. I don't understand why lego fans are so apprehensive or even dismissive of Mega. I just wish we got other licensed sets since some issues have come up with them and I hope we see more COD. Stores don't really stock them and it just is a pain. I'll die on the hill that Mega is better than Lego and I kinda wish some of lego's licenses get over to Mega again (like Marvel. New art figures of marvel super heroes would be awesome)
This isnt too bad to be honest, probably the best thing ive seen from their buildable pokemon line up so far.
Their pixel art line is quite tempting and their motion stuff is pretty cool.

I really like this one... it's just missing his nose. I know the animation is really subtle, but it's still there. It's been a long time since I used mega blocks. I'm guessing the weird plastic over coat is gone now. That was annoying. But yeah, I might just pick this one up
kinda a shame this video didn't do as well, but then again this is a star wars lego channel, not a pokemon megablocks channel. if you do more you'll always have my view on that video.
