Had a reel with loose spool tension knob. Put a couple wraps of Teflon pipe tape on threads and replaced cap. Tightened it up nicely. Keep tape in tackle box now.

Ok. It came in. 1st impressions are good. Feels solid. Casts light lures well. But she screams pretty loud when I cast and the lever for side plate removal is near impossible to access while it's on the rod.

Just taken delivery of this reel and another one as a gift for a friend. There seems to be a inherent problem with the drag adjustment. The spool on one reel is really hard to I'll line off when the drag star is backed off all the way, and not much different when turned up either. The other one is not quite as bad. How is the reel you have got? Anyone else had problems??

you should make an excel spreadsheet for all the bfs reels you have reviewed. A lot of work but it would help lol.
I've got this reel and I must say I was very impressed with it. Anyone with BFS experience will have absolutely no problems casting with this reel or handling fish. I honestly wish this came out before I bought the zephyr and the sabre 150. All are great reels for the money, but this reel here is brilliant for what it is.

Have you ever compared the difference of using braid for backing compared to mono or fluoro? Or how much spool weights can change using braid vs others?
It's not a good idea to use braid as backing as it can rotate on the spool (not enough friction against spool). This was happening to me for a while and I thought my drag wasn't working.
Hi. Just ordered one of these based on your review. Just to see how a reel for this cost performs. I have been trying to find out from the seller the size of the spool and brake plate bearings, but to no avail. I wanted to get some ceramic bearings before I got the reel, so, I hope you will be able to tell me. Great channel and content by the way. Always interesting. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
the palm side bearing looks to be 3-10-4 but the spool bearing is not the typical 5-11-4. It looks to be the same as the spool bearing of the GH100 that helps.

It looks like a great reel for the money from what I can see, you are usually on the Money with your reviews, very thorough. Does this reel can handle 1/6 oz. jigs as well?? like Marabou jigs for example. Thanks so much for all you do to make us Pond Hopper Warriors better at it.

There used to be a BFS spool for the Casitas on Aliexpress but its long gone
I got mine 2 days ago and spooled it up with 6lb 4x braid. I usually get around 30 yards on a 5g jighead with a .5g softbait and around 20 meters on a 5g sinking minnow. Would the cast distance improve using the same lures if I switch the line up with 4lb or 6lb mono? I always have this fear of breaking the line everytime I cast on very light mono. Thanks!
try to avoid mono as main line, especially for bfs. line memory will be a nightmare to deal with and it will never out cast braid line of the same poundage

I have such a hard time getting the side plate off, I can’t get to the latch for the life of me. Any suggestions
I generally don't have issues with it but sometimes I find it hard to flop the latch so I use a toothpick with the top broken off to pop it open.

Using baitcasters to cast light lures, as opposed to a spinning reel.
Bfs stands for bait finesse system meaning creating a bait caster that can cast lures you would normally need to use a spinning rod for
