It's that they design operators with lore and flavor in mind first, resulting in kits that make sense for the operator in-universe but make no sense from a practical gameplay perspective. HG doesn't really care if they release an operator that's suboptimal outside of very specific circumstances that you wouldn't even use them in, unfortunately.
It's crazy how back when she was first released, her only redeeming "good" quality is very much just the base of her archetype (wide range, status res) Everything else about her is a MESS intended to be sub-par at all turns. So when Purestream and Whisperain were both introduced, Ceylon's only niche of having off-skill wide range is swept away with units that are very much capable of doing what Ceylon do and MORE (Whisperain has great HPS, Purestream has great Burst Healing). And adding a salt to injury by giving out Lumen for free that can literally just straight up remove control effect is so..., like wow.
There is one perk her S2 has that no one else does. When it says "all" allies get status resistance, that includes Mushas and units that otherwise can't receive direct healing like Mudrock/Penance. This has only been relevant for me during the Frozen City Annihilation, and maybe events like the current one. Her S2 does come in handy in covering status resistance for allies *that otherwise won't need healing*. Whisperain and even Lumen by contrast have not been so helpful in the current event lol It's truly a shame otherwise. Both Ceylon and Breeze will do their expected jobs, Breeze even grants status resistance to both fellow medics and to supporters at E2. But since they mostly heal, they fall by the wayside. The introduction of Purestream further cripples the use case for both of them, HG has really done them dirty. Ah well. Such is the nature of gacha and powercreep. Nice vid

I have now gone Deaf after the ending (Congrats on 500🎉) Early Ops had some really shitty Sp Costs it sucks, OG Executor with a nice 70Sp S2, Indras 50Sp S2, both of Vulcans skills… this might be more of a 5* Problem actually 😅
Ceylon deserved better, the fixes you mentioned should have been standard or been implemented a long time ago, I want to add maybe her talent should give attack, then give status resist to allies in range if they are water tiles. This doesn't affect her S1 or S2 usage outside the events with water tiles, but it makes her very good for events with them. It also adds more flavour than attack and more attack. Also, interesting fact Ceylon S1 had a bug where it works by disabling her trait, so with mod, she would disable her taunt reduction and status resistance for a brief moment when healing, I think it got fixed
Honestly the biggest F-U to Ceylon was Eyjalter's entire existence. Eyjalter is EVERYTHING that a Ceylon Alter could've been, both in gameplay and lore. Not to mention that, of all units, Eyja was probably among the ones in least need of an Alter retake. Like, say what you want about Chalter, but at least she let her fans play with more Chen before Guard Chen made her proper comeback with a good module upgrade later.

You were right in everything, I have no complaints in that area, but there is an area that you did forgot to mention, you technically did but a small mention of it wouldn't have been bad. Ceylon S1 is still to this day of the strongest single use healing atk' medic skill. Her ability to heal more than 1.2k damage as healing basically out dps every single other medic ( When talking about single target healing and burst healing ) Is been a while since I did the tests so I am not sure if Purestream S2 was a competitor by a few digits or not, but besides that in total healing I think Nightingale stills is better iirc. One of the synergies that that pairs her very well with is funny enough, operators that have no defense but have a very high health pool, such as Dreadnaught operators such as Skadi and even though I am not a fan of this new Branchclass (I don't think anybody is...) Crushes Guards, as you can continuously top them again after 8 seconds, which is less than it takes her to fire her umbrella again. On additional note, she is not a bad pick in Integrated Strategies, or course the other medics in her Branch are better regardless but the nature of the long range of the class works wonders for the gamemode. Those are some extra things about Ceylon, and I agree that her way to fix her is what Cold, said. Perhaps those where my words... anyways. I mean her only real use case apart from niches like welfare (I use her regularly there for her super high hps) is for units that can't be healed but want status resistance, as no other medic can provide that because they need to heal them.
it's both a good and bad thing that so many characters get outdone by 4*/3* operators. it happens a lot, like Mr. nothing vs jaye, kirara vs ethan and, of course, ceylon vs purestream. ceylon in particular gets screwed over by lumen also being a welfare op (though he doesn't have record restore just yet).
When I first started my CN account last year Ceylon was a huge help for Medic range at E0/E1 to get me through early stages but yea now with Lumen in record restore kids have it easy smh

Man, this discussion series about operators/sub-class is rather promising. Ceylon is definitely a forgetful operator, both in character and kit; but not really on the former, especially that she reconciles with her father during So Long, Adele, but other than that, her ship with Schwarz still carries her. And outside of the discussion, you are utilizing the "brief immediate dialogues (with or w/o image)" so that your viewers are pull into rewinding the video, hence, increasing watch time.
It’s insane how her water stage gimmick only works with her event and nothing else despite having water. That is the definition of done dirty
