The world famous Bryggen, Bergen

[Norway] The Hanseatic League came to Bergen approximately 700 years ago. The League built many commercial wooden buildings right next to Vågen (the harbor area) on the Eastern side. Bryggen means the "dock". Bergen quickly became the commercial hub in Norway. Fires have destroyed many buildings over the years, and the ones we see today are about 300 years old. If you visit Bergen then Bryggen is a must. It is possibly the best drinking place in town.
