The fact that the defendant posted on youtube about the shooting before he actually did it proves that the shootings were all premeditated, it's a known and proven fact that people with mental illnesses are more of a danger to themselves than a danger to others, so, I really don't buy the defense attorney's excuse that the defendant committed the shootings because of a mental illness, people who suffer from a mental illness usually have some form of cognitive impairment that makes it difficult for them to function normally, they therefore would have trouble planning things if they had some form of cognitive impairment, if you watch the video footage of the shootings it's clear that the defendant wasn't cognitively impaired enough that he wasn't able to plan what he did, a person has to make a conscious decision when shooting someone and they have to be able to think clearly enough to be able to do it, something that's very difficult to do if there's any cognitive impairment present.
