  • This week we're off on an adventure that was suggested by you, our viewers. We head to the Scottish town of Oban for a long awaited date with the Paddle Steamer Waverley, the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world. The cruise takes us roung Mull, past Iona and Staffa beofre a stop off in the stunning town of Tobermory for a stretch of the legs and the perfect opportunity to give the Drone a wee outing.
There used to be hundreds of these cute wee ships plying their trade, carrying the goods to fuel an empire, or carrying tourists "Doon the Watter" from Glasgow to the traditional holiday destinations of Troon, Cumbrae and Arran.
This one was edited on the road to Orkney, hope the quality is up to our usual standards!!
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon.
All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 11 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with.
We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie.
If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at www.ko-fi.com/ScotlandOnAShoes....
If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring
We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at dandbbythesea.etsy.com

Lovely trip and I'd respond the same way standing over those. Just glad you didn't drop the camera.

Oh no yarn nightmare! :D I think I'd have spent the whole journey in the engine room!! Fascinating. So cool you got to stand in the heart of the ship - very jealous!

  • @clairegillies

What a beautiful adventure. Thanks for visiting the engine room. The sound of the engine is so hypnotizing. I could listen to it all day. Cool seeing it come to a stop also. Really nice of the man to let you in for a closer look. The rest was ok too! I did wave to Sarah and Willie.

Thanks for the adventure. I love the old paddle boat. We were on a small one here somewhere in Ohio. It had the wheel in the back. It has been so long we can't remember where.

  • @BrigidC

So exciting!!! Like a kid in a candy store 🍭

  • @shannahenk1655

I enjoyed how excited you were about the engine. And I had to laugh at Becks' response when you left your bag downstairs. 😄

  • @cynthiabruns7178

Great video, glad you were able to get somewhat closer to those beautiful engines.

  • @madcitywendy

Visiting Iona is one of my life goals. But I would be thrilled to be on your journey! Thank you for bringing us along. Best from Madison WI (USA)

  • @lydiaross2554

Thank you for taking us on this wonderful cruise.

What a lovely trip! The world may need that old technology someday. It’s fascinating! I saw that you passed a hovercraft. I took one of those from Dover to France about forty years ago. I did not like it. Waves slapping the windows beside your face is very disconcerting. Thanks for taking us along, if I may borrow a British expression, it was brilliant!

  • @sandiandgregh

That was gorgeous. What a great day out. We actually have a mini break planned for July to visit Tobermory…the Ontario, Canada one. We’ll be taking a cruise too but no paddle steamer I’m afraid.

  • @jimmcintosh9045

Was on that day and it got sunnier as the day went on. You should have had your wine as it was a good few hours before Oban.I got a Tobermory jigsaw in Tobermory for rainy days!

  • @Steggybeetroot0210

Great video. Never been on the Waverley but got to see it on Bute last year. Would love to one day do this same little cruise. Loved your enthusiasm for seeing the engines 👍
