Love how open and honest “straight shooter” Rene is. Please keep them podcasts coming 💪🏼
I love corny. Such a character and his passion for wrestling is admirable.
Jimmy stop calling my phone 😂🤣
Rene's Cornette impression is hilarious, LOL "GAWDAAAAAAAMN!"
Thanks for taking my question. I'm the same age as Rene, and went to the same College as Nova. Bam Bam Bigelow & Pat Tanaka trained me, even they said Nova was cheap. Here in Jersey the stories are legendary.
What a legendary episode you shouldn't be thanking us for watching, we should be thanking you for sharing this with the world Jim Cornette is one hell of a person in the business, you may not like what he has to say, he may have went too far at times but he makes very valid criticisms in a lot of cases, he has been really harsh on certain wrestlers which I don't agree with and wished things could have gone differently but he is who he is and has made a big impact on wrestling especially when it came to rising stars in the 80s and early 90s and also working with upcoming talent in Louisville during 2000s. A controversial figure in wrestling but one day he may want to come on here I hope and we would love that, Rene and James you seem really keen on having him on so who knows? Thanks guys and I hope you enjoy the rest of your Thursday! P.S. If anyone wants to watch some pro wrestling tonight, the new episode of Impact will be on in around 5 hours come watch along with me fellow fans!
Always loved Rene honestly
I asked the phone question due to Jim talking about it to be more specific and to see Rene's reaction Thank you.
Renee is 100% true about what the wrestling business does to mental health... One time my friend and I went down the side of a mountain in the Poconos and we just rode up to the wrong place in the wrong time where they could have murdered us and no one would ever heard from us again and one of the WWE guys would have been blamed for it cuz he was the last one with us at the restaurant...... After I got him on the phone and explain to him the insanity that ensued after we parted ways and all he had to say is going around from place to place will make you crazy.... He's right
Great stuff
Rene is an intelligent guy. The way he explained the WWE's tanking live shoe business and reliance on TV was so insightful 👌
The constant talk about tanking live event business really isn’t truly accurate though as measured by the revenues generated from live events historically. Prior to the pandemic the company averaged between $120-140M annually for the three years prior to the pandemic shutting live events down. And this year through the third quarter the company has generated $99M in live event revenue so if that pace continued through the fourth quarter then they’ll be back to around $120M in love event revenue again, which is right in line with the levels of their recent averages for most of the years pre pandemic.
Compared on a revenue basis live event revenues are actually around their highest levels over the past ten or so years. For example back in the time periods where the business was more popular like 2000-04 live event revenues at their highest level were in 2001 with around $85M of live event revenues. So yes they don’t sell as many tickets as prior times where business was more popular but on a revenue basis their live events generate much more than they did during hotter time periods.
So in a true evaluation of the numbers their live show business hasn’t tanked when measured by revenues generated yearly. The difference about live events, and why they’re seen as essentially tanking despite the revenues not backing that claim, is because while the amount has remained consistent for years the live event business has become less and less a major segment of the company’s total revenues because of the giant increase they’ve gotten in their media rights deals. Live event revenue by amount has remained at its consistent levels throughout the years but the rapid jump in the amount of media rights, sponsorships and other revenue streams the company has resulted in live events becoming less and less of the big picture of the company’s business picture. As recently as 6 or so years ago the amount of live event revenue was around what it currently is but because the company ddint generate the revenues from media that they do now it accounted for around 20% of total revenues. Thanks to the media growth it has obviously shrunk in its impact to the bottom line.
The live event business remains important for what the product is as a whole because such a big aspect of the show itself involves the audience as we became all too aware of with the pandemic. Wwe leaves things to be desired in terms of drawing people for live events but at the same time the pandemic demonstrated how good it can be for the company to not have to depend on the live events to be the primary source of revenues. Live events even if the product is at its peak have clear ceilings of the money that can be made because you can only fit so many people into shoes and can only charge so much money for a ticket before you price people out of being able to attend. Meanwhile media rights have a much less defined ceiling as to what can be earned by companies. And the media revenues the company brings in was clearly great for times like the pandemic where it took away the life event segment entirely. Other companies that needed live events had to shut down while a WWE was able to continue operations and end up with its highest revenue yesr ever ar that point in time despite the pandemic. Despite all of these things of course the issue will always remain as to what would happen to the company someday if the media rights they could get took a major drop. Especially considering that despite the continued giant deals they keep getting the viewers watching the shows via traditional formats on these networks continues to decline year after year. This next deal will be interesting to see.
I don’t think there’s a bigger fan of wrestling than Jom Cornette. Just the fact that he remembers dates, location, arenas, etc says a lot about him as a true fan
Great episode, Corny is definitely one of the more intriguing personalities in wrestling.
Renee should have been top heel in WWE 2010s
Yes he should have, I think he would have been solid from 2011-2016.
To much to soon and poletics and bullshit , i think be was a great tag champ and deserved a single title push
He was much happier in Japan
He's was trash 🗑
Its a shame rene is not on mainstream TV nowadays. I really hope this podcast/you tube channel is a major success. Very honest guy and enjoy listening to him and Paul.
Also cornette is a legend
5:30 "He has 3 kids" LMAO 🤣
Have you ever faced vampiro
"I drink the tears of those that hate me" - Jim Cornette
Amazing content week by week it just gets better 🔥🔥⚡️
WWE was pissed when your dance got over. You were a heel and ppl went nuts everytime you did it.
Thank you!!!!!
Another great one ☝️ Rene always keeping it real. I wonder if we can bring back wrestlememia.
Great podcast
Gunther is pretty good on NXt like a cross between regal and layfield
Cool
8:15 💀
9:40 The Phonecall
Jimmy hart, Paul Bearer and Paul Heyman were great managers as well maybe in the conversation for top two or three managers.
The French terminator!!
Another solid episode and thank you Rene and your friend here for making this incredible podcast possible. Jim Cornette is my 2nd favorite manager after Bobby Heenan. The man is a pro wrestling almanac that knows his history, the in's and out of the business and the Midnight Express (Stan Lane/Bobby Eaton) was my original favorite tag team in the OG NWA/WcW era.
Great eposide. Have you discounted the audio format?
Issues with Spotify, will be back on soon
I will listen regardless. You're doing a great job and I will support a fellow Canadian. Also we have the same birthday I was born in 1984
Can you interview that guy that wore the dress on Smackdown in like 2006.
Can you interview John heidinrich
Or Tyson tomko
James - it is 'you were' rather than you was mate!! You're a podcast host brush up on grammar my man. Grammar aside, class podcast you're a good presenter thanks for the good work it's nice you let Rene speak rather than trying to make the show about you!
Whatever happened to Das Wunderkind aka Alex Wright the dancing disco king lol, another great talent whom as well kinda reminds me of Renee Dupree, just 2 great awesome talents that deserved a skyrocket push into the cosmos!🤘
I love Corny. Is there any truth to him taking a baseball bat and whacking it against the building after getting pissed at John Cena?
if he whacked his own car with a baseball bat then this one is not hard to believe lol
@@IASP17 he also took a baseball bat to the car of an employee of SMW back in the day. He's talked about that on his podcast.
@@GodlessScummer I just recently saw that guy get interviewed and he talked about that and he even had photos of his damaged car lol
if it is the same guy. I cant remember his name right now. Conor maybe?
That's was a perfect Jim Cornette impression ahaha
I already know Corny is gonna react to this episode, it should be entertaining lol.
No he’s not lol
It takes a lot for him to respond. He won’t even acknowledge them
If someone asks it on the Drive Thru he will happily
After listening to Corny's show for years, I think it is safe to say that he is a freak. When the MeToo stuff happened, he said that he did not force anyone to take part, but he definitely didn't deny that the activities took place. It is nice hearing some different perspectives on him as a person. Love the show!
Nice Impression of Cornette.
Magnificent podcast
42:02 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
30:54
James: Yeah….
Rene : Yeah…
🤣😂
Can you interview petty Williams
Corny is Kentucky Fried Howard Stern
Great Jim impersonation.
Cool
1:26 LMAO
I love how everyone refers to Cornette as GDMF!!🤣🤘
Be prepared Renee. Positive or negative, anytime you talk about Cornette, he's going to respond with a video of his own.
I'd love to see Cornette make a appearance if only a couple minute phone call.
40:09 - You just know this is gonna be good.

Have you ever wrestled for jcw
Epic
Did you face Batista in ovw
Love Jimmy
There's not many Cafe episodes I really turn off but this was a bit much. Corny has his issues but it seemed like a real hit job on him.
BTW, please do a Bobby Heenan podcast episode.
Can you interview nosowa
Awesome piece 👏 👌
Festus was imposter Kane
The phone 📞 story
Any memory of working velocity or heat
Godamnnn mother......🤣🤣🤣🤣Rene !!so funny man this rocks.
don’t have conrad he would just quote meltzer
Jim met Pat plenty and often talks fondly of him. Does Rene not realise Jim worked in Stamford and helped book during the 90's?
U Ever wrestle against ur father
Bashim brothers are memorable
The voice isnt very clear especially rene U guys need to a better set-up. Love corny tho he is a laugh
Jim Cornette is a draw
I never thought about this til rene brought it up but, cornette is a HUGE south park fan and during this time period there was a episode or maybe it was in the movie, but the whole la resistance thing he HAD TO HAVE ripped it off from south park! one of the episodes involves one of the kids saying "viva la resistance" after every fucking sentence n the kid character was some French Canadian exchange student...if anyone remembers go back n look it up! the timelines of when that south park episode/movie came out was exactly around this time period of late 90s early 2000s! cornette always is bringing up south park in his podcasts so I'm almost positive that he got that idea from south park lol, especially since he wanted every promo to end with that phrase, which is exactly how the kid from south park used it after some big monologue.
He got it from the french guy on the A-Team.
Content is good. But the sound and visuals are terrible. Hope you are able to bring these up to a better presentation as it’s hard to watch in longer bites.
WRESTLEMEMIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like Jim's personality, but it sounds like he'd be a PITA to work for if what Rene said about him getting in his face is accurate. Kudos to Rene for putting up with it.
Who are legit stars that have come from the PC center?🤭 Only the horsewoman?
Brian Last is a MORE aggravating Conrad Thompson because at least Connie keeps up the illusion of being a nice guy and is always honest about being a fan, albeit a rich one. Last is an arrogant, snide bastard who thinks he's a much bigger deal than he actually is.
You can tell rene respects cornette
Wee-wee bounjour
As a member of the cult if corvett wondering if I should share this in the group on Facebook 😂....I'm more of a member of the cult of Rene 😂
Go for it 😁
@@cafederene i did might wanna wait for negative comments 😂
When I showed up for OVW in 2003 on one of my first days I was told by someone "If Jim or Stacy ask you to come over for a cook out, don't go." The blonde girl he mentioned has to be Nikita.
Great as always. Congrats on the weight loss Conrad!
"Hard-Core" Wrestling matches, always have and always will be AWFULL!.....I have no idea who it is that thinks guys hitting each other with trash cans is entertaining. It's bloody PATHETIC!....Heyman is a great booker, as is Cornette. I have no idea why he tainted his product with the "Hard-Core" B.S
Stop playing on your phone during the podcast Rene, it's rude .
He could be texting business.
He's still listening and answering to the questions, I'd say he's doing just fine!
I thought he was rolling something
Fat guy with a beard talking about Cornette on a Podcast… Yup that’s never been Done before!
Thanks for watching
The host is AWFUL
