- One train set 6521 - 6555 has been updated with a new announcement program which shortens the arrival and departing announcements along with updated transfers. This is a test to see if shorter announcements can decrease station dwell time when a train arrives.
Recorded 4/15/15 - April 15, 2015 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Charlie saying his segment about not blocking the doors takes the same amount of time as the current announcements lmfao
lol
The regular announcements are one of the things that differentiates the NYC Subway to other transit systems around the world. Not only do these new announcements sound weird but I don't think this will work in shortening dwell time.
So, I'm on 6555 right now and i just went on my phone to look this up on CZcams and found this video.
I honestly hate it. I like the current announcements much better. This is certainly interesting, though. Hopefully they keep the current ones because these may confuse people who don't ride the subway that often.
Nah this is way better. Cuts time.
@@tmalone2530 it’s about the same because people still get in the same way they did with the normal annoucements, you’d get even more confusing annoucements but no change on time. It’s only faster in the video because it’s just recordings and not the actual train
Ewwwwww ._. It can save time but I'd rather prefer: "This is a Manhattan-Bound (5) Express Train. The Next Stop Is... Franklin Avenue." That makes more sense and is more understandable.
I agree
facts

Larry true
Me too
These announcements sound too weird and makes no sense keep the current announcements. They also sound like announcements from R110A retired trains.
NYC Trainfan I agree
R110A isn’t retired they are just in the (4) train yard
@@friendlycommenter8505 they are retired because there not used on any line anymore
@@Sledge0422 no they are actually test trains
Nope they all got converted into garbage trains
I hate it they need too leave it the way it is
Sure, shave off maybe a couple of seconds at each station at best. It'll do shit for actually improving subway service, though.
Ugh, these are awful. The Charlie Pellett announcement at Atlantic kind of defeats the purpose of the abbreviated announcements, too.
D2RCR That's not even getting into 59 St.
How about GET INTO IT.

Charlie sounded annoying when he said ladies and gentlemen if u r not exiting at the next station please move away from the doors and allow customers 2 leave the train quickly thank u 4 ur cooperation
Yea but these announcements are stupid. Charlie is the one who actually is helpful
Somebody just needs to tell the MTA that these new announcements just confuse me sometimes.
And its the same amount of time the train takes at the station cus there is to much people on the platforms so its gonna take the same amount of time for people to board.
Really enjoy this
This might be new, but it may recorded by another lady, including the experimential announcement, and some stations that have been re recorded. But it still keeps the Jessica Ettinger Gottesman and Charlie pellet announcements.
That's Catherine Cowdery ur talking about.
I don't approve of the updated announcement either especially that the fact that they changed Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, Union sq 14st, and Grand Central-42st to just Brooklyn Bridge, Union Square, and Grand Central they need to Re-Update them
Agree.
BenjaminMacaTheOKGuy 2019 the 4 5 6 part is 59 St the N R W part has Lexington Av in it
On the new Waratah trains in Sydney, they have display panels as well as the announcements. The announcements are by a digitally made voice and except for a few odd sounding station names are well understood.
You might try to get the MTA to sound proof their trains but I suppose the el running would negate this. You do have a very frequent services which can give delays with faulty equipment or passengers.
Could you videos looking sideways, the track does get monotonous to look at.
Thanks for videos.
Ernie Lee from Down Under.
l like these better honestly in most stations it does make it quicker except Atlantic Ave and especially 59th holy hell LOL and finally telling people to move from the damn doors if they aren't exiting is also a plus cause people love standing at the door not letting people on or off the damn train. Also thanks for cutting West farms Square East Tremont Ave to West Farms Square that shit was ridiculously long lol. I rode on the 2 train a few hours ago and it had these updated announcements second time i've caught it. I have a feeling they will use these.
6:10 125th Street. Transfer is available to the 4, 6, Q, T, 8, 10, and 12 trains Free Transfer also available 2 3 trains Lenox Av 125th Street Using to MetroCard. Transfer is available to the M60 Select Bus Service to LaGuardia Airport, Connect to Metro North and PATH Trains. Ladies and gentlemen if you not exiting at the next station please move away doors and allow customers to leave the train quickly thank you for your cooperation.
wow. a new announcement, I wonder who's the person to make this. will it have more on other subway train that has a 8, 10, and 11 car.
I can only see the new announcements working for stations with connections, not for local stations with no connections
I rode on board the set with car 6555 today. It seems like the MTA switched the announcements back to the way there were. These announcements were no where to be found. Could someone check on this?
that is interesting. if this happens, will the do it to the r160's and the new generation cars?
This new announcement with Charlie Pellet though when the #5 train enters a station with transfer points.
I honestly think this will only save time at the stations where not many people get on. It'd reduce hang time there, but at a station like Union Square, the announcements are over before everyone is on and off anyway, so there's not much of a point. It'll save seconds at best, and I don't think that would matter all that much.
3 Ave 149 St said 5 Local but it just ran express from 3 Ave - 149 St To East 180 St I’m confused it meant 5 Express to Dyre Ave
Wow cool announcements
Cool r110a r142 mix up
That sounds like Catherine Cowdery Jessica Ettinger Gottesman and Diannie Thompson for the Nevins St transfer
6:40 that’s the 2 train transfer at 138 St-GC
Let's be honest. These announcements are grand and reliable. They are even more better than Jessica garter's announcements where she sounds like sounds like she is shouting into the microphone.
However, one thing to take away from this is the "move away from the doors" announcement. It is repetitive and we know what to do, Charlie.
YoImShepard stupid
What they should do is leave as is and change the format in which they go. For example the pattern i used to hear on the late night 6 was. “This is a bronx bound 6 train, stand clear of the closing doors, (doors close), the next stop is grand central 42nd st”. It was odd but worked. And the train kept moving if its a timing issue. In london thier automated announcements are similar to these but explain connections as the doors open and still isnt long winded.
That doesn't make a difference, given the dwell times.
Ouch. Sentence fragments. It's my pet peeve on DART, now my old neck of the woods is beginning to embrace that!?
You know what's weird..
I heard these announcements on a 6 train
I actually liked these announcements they were quick clear and to the point
They just don’t hit the same
i know im commenting on an old video but on the surface, this could work. the problem is, the additional announcement by Charlie Pellett for people to move away from the doors actually extends dwell times, which is counterproductive. shortening the transfer announcement is unnecessary as well, since that's where confusion can be. shortened station names will definitely cause the same thing.
though this is only shaving literally like 3 to 8 seconds off, shortening the destination and arrival announcements and keeping the full-length transfers and connections keeps things short, to the point, and won't cause confusion. it would reduce dwell times since "5 express to The Bronx. Next Stop: 59th Street" takes much less time than "This is a Bronx bound 5 express train. The Next Stop is 59th Street". shortening the arrival announcement doesn't do MUCH but might as well do it for consistency's sake. and shortening the transfers is almost entirely useless, since those aren't very long in the first place. once again, it's the addition of the clearance announcement by Charlie that makes it worse than it currently is.
this experiment should be conducted again, sans that clearance announcement and without changing the transfers since those don't have impact on dwell time, the operator uses that time to reach the end of the platform. if repeated, it may actually succeed and be useful for B division lines. A division doesn't have much of a station dwelling issue anymore, some trains are frequently ahead of schedule from firsthand experience (the 2 in the Bronx, in particular). B division has a lot more going on, so this could definitely prove useful with scheduling, headways (where applicable), and general wait times on platforms, again, where applicable.
“Connect to Long Island Rail road”
That means connecting to Long Island rail road?
Are these announcements still on the program
They should not update the announcements
Big L Lutchman ikr
Wow this was 2 years ago
I heard these announcement on the 2 train
5 express to the Bronx, next stop, "Walls street". Im very confused.
and hows the door closing announcement anyways?
The only thing they should keep from these announcements is the if you are not exiting.
MrRailFanBVE do you have any idea if they got rid of this? I think they did i haven't seen it anymore on the 2 or 5 unless they switched it over to another line.
JayBrezzii The cars are assigned to the 2; unless necessary, they will not show themselves on anything other than the 2 or 5.
I keep hearing ladies and gentlemen if your not exiting at the next station please move away from the door quickly. Thank you for your cooperation
I know it's so ANNOYING!
'Transfer to the 2 tra...' it's cut of.
FlyHigh I hear that
ah yes, 2 tra
Unlike everyone else, I love this announcement.
They're terrible to me. I'm glad they're not using these.
I liked them too
@@farrockqns2577 there terrible

quite specific
It makes no sense. will this be on the other IRT LINES
Where can I find the male voice:
"Please stand clear of the closing doors please" Dingdongdingdong
Hope they can update some announcements on the "B" division. I like these announcements. It reduces dwell time in stations.
I think i really hate the "Transfer is available to the _____ Select Bus Service" lady announcing the entire subway, since its a bad idea that the MTA has ever did. I like the original better.
Wow so they actually didn't completely replace Jessica Ettinger and Charlie Pellet's voices. That actually makes me feel happy cause I like hearing their voices on the subway.
Have it use R62 if they want short anouncments
Ewwwwwwwwww why
They should only keep Charlie’s lines.
Do they have this on the (2) Lin???
Yes
Does it sounds similar like the 5
They need to put these announcements on the (4), (6), , (7) and
@@user-acs64 EW NO THESE ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE HORRIBLE
What kind of announcement is that
I like this video because I live in Dyre av
Bruh the arriving 59 St announcement took forever

Oh boy

Whats the voice on 7 line wich say the next stop is
Catherine Cowerdy.
As long as it makes my ride faster
The next stop is alomst sound 7 G V trains
M60-SBS????
this doesn't even save much time anyways, it would be pointless because of the time passengers would take to board and alight and the guard to close down the whole train , it's dumb, and most likely people wont catch the announcement amid the noise of the subway, dont fix what was never even broken
I like This is a Manhattan/Bronx/Eastchester Dyre Av Bound 5 Exp/Lcl Better but I still kinda like this
Sounds as if it was an R110A train
These do not sound like they are from NYC
You made the guy say move away from the doors quickly too much, I was annoyed about that after I watched this video.
That's how it was recorded. They added it to every major station. Thankfully they dont use that announcement anymore
😲,ok I didint know
I wont lie But i like these new announcements
8:47 sounds like an anti bullying psa 😭
you spelled wall st wrong
this is 125 st .take 4 and 6 trains take also m60 t select bus service
0:17 Church Avenue
Is it me or Jessica gottesman return to do the transfer announcements?
angievalefan1 I think they just re edited the original transfers she recorded
Could be, but they sound very nice meaning like it was re-recorded... lately Mta's editing skills suck a lot.. I don't know if they did edit them, but who ever did edit these, needs to keep their job lol
I was on that train but signed as the 2 and the 2 announcements are updated!
For example Jessica Ettinger announces the transfer announcement for 14 St
Let me see if I ride the 5 train and see what happens I promise u it will still br Jessica Ettinger Gottesman
Andrew Campbell Its just 1 train that has these, and it swaps between the 2 and 5 lines so its pretty hard to catch.
I never ever heard Melissa speak on the 5 train B4
Andrew Campbell Look up Wakefield-bound 5 train.
Ok I'll do that
LightningFever86 That's not Melissa; that's Kathleen.
You spelled Wall Street wrong.
Aahd Tahar Thanks for pointing it out, I fixed it with an annotation

Love these announcements, just gets the point, half of the passengers don't pay attention anyway.

Thanks bus
Yeah she spell wall street wrong
Yeah she spelled wall street wrong
I caught it once during rush hour. I live right near the Pelham Parkway station. I was like "WTF?"
Not really
These announcements are somewhat good and bad
These announcements are horrible and were are a disaster the current ones are better and easier to understand but these horrible announcements are too quick and kind of hard to understand
Don't like these announcements at all, but great video.
I heard this the other on the 2 train in the Bronx I don't like these announcements
This sounds weird.
Also people crowding slows down the doors
