I've been saying these things for years as have lots of UK fans. We don't need a bucketful of five stars. We need the right players and a guy who can coach. I for one applaud this respite from reality TV basketball. Mark will show the rest of the country what real basketball is about. Welcome back, Coach Pope.

I've been a Wildcats fan since 1975. I was there when Mark Pope transferred and loved his style of play, heart, confidence and team first attitude. I followed him during NBA years and playing overseas. Coach Pope also has connections from playing internationally. I am excited for Big Blue Madness and ready for new season. I have seen 6 coaches before Coach Pope. I'm so stoked for his styles of play. He was an excellent outside shooter and free throw shooter. I can't wait💙 His teams have their own style. He loved the fans then and will work hard to prove nay sayers wrong. He is a really smart guy too.

My buddy whos a louisville fan, and i were talking today about our respective schools coaching changes. We agreed both schools got solid hires, and you can either buy in or be miserable

The main difference will be is that he will recruit players that want to be at Kentucky. He knows what it takes to be a champion. He needs to find the best recruiters that has a feel for NBA. Dan Hurley first few years at uconn were rough too. Now look at him. It takes time to build a system and get the players in that fit your system. Don't count him out yet.

Comparing starts at a school for the coach, who is now widely considered to be the best coach in basketball. I said, "Don't count Pope out yet." Having a bad year at the beginning doesn't mean you're a bad coach. Hence, Hurley is being brought up.
Since Kentucky is best basketball school ever, he should do better than Hurley in his first five years. Hence success is 3 championships in 5 years. Everything less is a bad hire. Plain and simple. Most money and fans, so success isn’t final fours, it is championships. His teams should be so good there is no luck factor, like winning every tournament game by at least 13 points. Let’s be real BBN.
I was hoping to get Drew since he's seemingly in the zone and in his prime. But I'll wait and see how Pope does. I'm not impressed at first take, but we will see.

SGA wasn’t even a starter the first 9-11 games of the year Quade Green was Starting the Adou pickup was really good. But he Missed on Khalil Whitley and he also picked Damion Collin’s over Bryce Hopkins he lost Kyle Wiltcher to Gonzaga lost Johnny to UCLA. I like the Pope Hire because his coaching we have to see how he recruits but I feel good about it.
