Love love love this cartoon! My mom bought my kids a cartoon DVD out of the dollar bin and this was on it! I haven't been able to get it out of my head for years now - at least 4 years! I love it!

I've been looking for this for ages! I remember watching this on TV when I was a kid in the 60's. I always loved the animation and that little song. Thank you for posting!

Huh, funny that a kid from the 60's and a teen from the 2000's (1999) found the same entertainment from this! Loved this stuff when I was younger. ^^

Yeah you rock, I love UPA. I love that song he sings, it's dying for a Pogo-esque remix. You all do know Pogo don't you? :)

Yes, as 'atzawacki' has stated, this WAS a segment of the 1956-'57 "BOING BOING SHOW" on CBS' Sunday afternoon schedule (originally telecast in black and white).

I've been looking for this for a while now. It suddenly hit me to stop searching up the song and look up the cartoon which I remembered was about a boy with an invisible mustache. So glad to have been able to find this.

I don't think I've seen this before, which is surprising, since I was born in 1956, and UPA cartoons were all over the place in 1960s TV, especially in large markets like Greater Chicagoland, where there were multiple independent channels. I love the story. It's told simply and effectively. UPA's stark graphics and limited animation were an ideal medium for telling Dufy's story. It's abundantly clear that UPA's artists, like the fashion industry of the mid-50s, was still strongly influenced by Dufy's work. I'm nuts about this cartoon! I want to see it in a better transfer, if possible. Time to hit up the library!

Rare? I assume it's rare because UPA only produced one "The Invisible Mustache of Raoul Dufy" cartoon. Then again, pretty much all cartoons are rare, then.

The Gerald McBoing Boing Show had a multitude of talented artists and directors. Of course, UPA was known for scorning humor. Nevertheless, supervising director Bobe Cannon hired former UPA writer Bill Scott as an associate producer to help add humor to the show. Scott also served as dialogue director for the series.
When Scott later teamed up with Jay Ward, not only did he bring along some of the designers and directors to Ward's studio, but also some of the actors who put in time for this series. For instance, the "Favorite Painters" series was narrated by Hans Conried, who would later play, among other Ward roles, Snidley Whiplash on the "Dudley Do-Right" segments by Ward.
