If Google went on to be called Alphabet, why can't Facebook go on and be called anything for that Meta?

This is part of the problem. We all know how bad social media is and where it's leading us, but few people are willing to take their own responsibility to disconnect from it, whilst naively expecting these global corporations to look after our interests themselves. They are not a business providing us a product as their clients. Their clients are the ad companies. WE are the product.
I had thought that by now, especially after all the Congressional hearings with Suckerberg, that everyone was aware that FB's users are the product that they are selling to their advertisers.

I do wonder though if just like the vast majority of other addicts, facebook users are perfectly aware of the damage their addiction is doing to them, but they either don't care, or are unable to ween themselves off of it.
