Dr.Dre Gear, Merch & More: amzn.to/2FDT0a4
2001 is the second studio album by American rapper and producer Dr. Dre. It was released on November 16, 1999, by Interscope Records as the follow-up to his 1992 debut album The Chronic. The record was produced primarily by Dr. Dre and Mel-Man, as well as Lord Finesse, and features several guest contributions from fellow American rappers such as The D.O.C., Hittman, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, and Eminem. 2001 exhibits an expansion on his debut's G-funk sound and contains gangsta rap themes such as violence, promiscuity, drug use, street gangs, and crime.

Lyrics:
[Intro: Snoop Dogg]
Yeah, nigga, I'm still fuckin' with ya
Still waters run deep
Still Snoop Dogg and D-R-E, '99, nigga
Guess who's back
Still doin' that shit, huh, Dre?
(Oh for sho', check me out)
[Verse 1: Dr. Dre]
It's still Dre Day, nigga, AK, nigga
Though I've grown a lot, can't keep it home a lot
‘Cause when I frequent the spots that I'm known to rock
You hear the bass from the truck when I'm on the block
Ladies, they pay homage, but haters say Dre fell off
How, nigga? My last album was The Chronic
They want to know if he still got it
They say rap's changed, they wanna know how I feel about it
(If you ain't up on thangs)
Dr. Dre is the name, I'm ahead of my game
Still puffin' my leaves
Still fuck with the beats, still not lovin' police
Still rock my khakis with a cuff and a crease
Still got love for the streets, reppin' 213 (for life)
Still the beats bang, still doin' my thang
Since I left ain't too much changed, still…
[Hook: Snoop Dogg + (Dr. Dre)]
I'm representin' for them gangstas all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them lo-lo's, girl
(Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D.R.E.)
I'm representin' for them gangstas all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them lo-lo's, girl
(Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D.R.E.)
[Verse 2: Dr. Dre]
Since the last time you heard from me I lost some friends
Well, hell, me and Snoop, we dippin' again
Kept my ear to the streets
Signed Eminem, he's triple platinum, doin' 50 a week
Still, I stay close to the heat
And even when I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet
My life's like a soundtrack I wrote to the beat
Treat rap like Cali weed: I smoke 'til I sleep
Wake up in the A.M., compose a beat
I bring the fire 'til you're soakin' in your seat
It's not a fluke, it's been tried, I'm the truth
Since 'Turn Out the Lights' from the World Class Wreckin Cru
I'm still at it, after mathematics
In the home of drive-by's and ak-matics
Swap meets, sticky green, and bad traffic
I dip through, then I get skin, D.R.E.
[Verse 3: Dr. Dre]
It ain't nothin' but more hot shit
Another classic CD for y'all to vibe with
Whether you're coolin' on the corner with your fly bitch
Laid back in the shack, play this track
I'm representin' for the gangstas all across the world
Still (hittin' them corners on the lo-lo's, girl)
I'll break your neck, damn near put your face in your lap
Niggas try to be the king, but the ace is back
(So if you ain't up on thangs)
Dr. Dre be the name, still runnin' the game
Still got it wrapped like a mummy
Still ain't trippin', love to see young blacks get money
Spend time out the hood, take they moms out the hood
Hit my boys off with jobs, no more livin' hard
Barbeques every day, drivin' fancy cars
Still gon' get mine regardless
[Hook: Snoop Dogg + (Dr. Dre)]
I'm representin' for them gangstas all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them lo-lo's, girl
(Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D.R.E.)
I'm representin' for them gangstas all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them lo-lo's, girl
(Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D.R.E.)
I'm representin' for them gangstas all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them lo-lo's, girl
(Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets, it's the D.R.E.)
[Outro: Snoop Dogg]
Right back up in your mothafuckin' ass
9-5 plus four pennies! Add that shit up
D-R-E right back up on top of thangs
Smoke some with your dog
No stress, no seeds, no stems, no sticks!
Some of that real sticky icky icky
Ooh wee! Put it in the air! Oh, you's a fool D.R.

WHOS STILL VIBIN IN 2024?
Everything wears down and gets old, but this one never does
In my opinion that's the true definition of a 'classic' beat. Not that it was released at a certain time, or was deeply influential. Those things are (of course) significant. But the main factor is whether the production still 'pops', here almost 20 years later despite the sonic landscape having drifted far away. Can still rock any station.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I love Dre I love the albun
My high school album, with hard rock, techno, and rap. Loved the early 2000’s.

One of the greatest hip hop songs ever 😎🌍🌍🔥🔥🔥
Over 20 years and still never heard a album to even come close to this perfection. Sht I miss being young. I graduated when this came out. Sound track to my youth. This beat brings me back to this time in life. Hotboxed cars and Phillies guts on the ground. Using a razor to cut it open to get a perfect line and seal it back up perfectly. Smoke rings that floated in the middle of a room for hours but later realise it only seemed like hours because the white blotter and gel tabs were so damn strong back then. 5 mile hikes through town in the middle of night because the gel tabs make you want to walk forever and cant stand being inside when you start peaking. Been almost same amount of time 20 years since I tripped. Wonder what it feel like today to trip? Probably couldn't handle it now. Your fearless when young. I can still picture my best friend chewing on what looked like half a piece of paper hanging out his mouth while I'm just starting to peak. I'm like why you eating paper? He's like no I just am chewing on the rest like 14 tabs. Why you doing that crazy??? Well it's been like 20 minutes and I still dont feel it. I'm just starting to realise how strong this shit is only after a good hour. I realise he is fucked! I'm like omg bro you didnt wait long enough. You took to much!!! 2 hours later he's running around my front yard laughing and vomiting at same time. Am I gonna die dude? No you'll be fine dont worry. Luckily he survive the night. We tripped hard for atleast 16 or 18 hours.. to be young..lol
this is produced by scott storch

One of my favorite master pieces since a was a teenager. And back in time I didn't even speak English.
This song is about not forgetting the greatness of LA! A few years before Chronic 2001 dropped, Dre's previous album--"Dr. Dre presents The Aftermath"--got some noise about not being a superior album. When Dre dropped this song, he reminded the music world that he wasn't playing and West Coast Rap had never left. Add that this song dropped when the Lakers won their first championship of the Shaq & Kobe era--after not winning since 88?? Perfect timing!!
And now look at them, no great LA rappers anymore and their only recent W in nba was in the bubble
2019 STILL
