- NetherRealm Studios really stuffed as many possible movie reference spanning the career of Sylvester Stallone and I am loving it! Hopefully I caught most of it. If there are any that I missed I’m sure you guys will tell me in the comments below. Just remember that some were deliberately left out due to their violent nature. The one thing that’s a bit surprising was the lack of Rocky references … where’s the shoutout to Adrian?

The quote at 1:12 "The benefits of being a specialist", is a reference to the title of the movie, The Specialist.
The quote at 1:56 "...I'm your worst nightmare", is a quote from Rambo 3.
The quote at 5:16 is a quote from Rambo: First Blood, as well as a reference to the titles of his movie Rambo: First Blood and Rambo: Last Blood.
At 8:46 is a reference to the movie title Over The Top.
And the reply, "it's justice" could be a reference to Judge Dredd, but I could be wrong on that one...
At 9:58 is a quote similar to the one in Rambo: First Blood, "You want a war you can't win?".
The comment at 10:12 could be a referring to Lewis, Former SAS and mercenary platoon leader in Rambo 4 (2008).
10:29 has two quotes taken from First Blood.
The comment at 13:02 is a reference to Rocky coming from Philadelphia.
Yes, if I'm remembering correctly the quote from Rambo First Blood is "don't push it, or i'll give you a war you won't believe". I thank you for all the things I missed like the "Over the Top" & "Judge Dredd" references. I also missed the "i'm no tourist" from Rambo 3 and the "Live for nothing, or die for something"
And the ending scene where Rambo is walking is him going Delmore Barry’s house not his family’s house. Way to catch The Specialist line! I thought he would say something like ‘top of the world’ or ‘no failsafe’
There's also one missing dialogue with Shao Kahn referencing Judge Dredd movie title.

Also: The expendable intro with Khotal is a reference to the movie "The Expendables"

The sheer amount of references packed into this character shows the love and dedication that went into this DLC.
Love how Rambo brings a bright green pile of leaves and twigs to hide in, to a god damn post-apocalyptic location with no plant life in sight.

not exactly a Stallone movie, but it was one of his first minor roles early in his career. the way she said that made me think that there was a reference in there somewhere and one google later and I was like whoa. XD

Major props for the reference scenes. Could have simply used the scenes from the game but you went the extra mile to give them context, respect.
It makes sense to me to do it that way so that people can get their context instead of having to look for it. Although I do understand why some people might leave them out, for fear of being dinged by the algo. I've been fortunate enough to be left alone while showing these movie clips since doing them for the Terminator.
Everyone who makes these compilation videos forgets that "over the top" was a Stallone film too, Joker references it.

This is like the best Guest character that MK11 could've bring. Excelent choice and the voice acting from the man itself, Stallone, was 10/10. The ending was amazing too.

So many references and Easter eggs even in his basic attack combos. I grew up watching these 80/90s action icons, so far Rambo seems to have had the most care after Robocop.

I know it's being mentioned a few times in the comments about Judge Dredd reference, but there is also one more I noticed. It's the guy with a sniper or some other gun and Rambo asks him "So, you're a sharpshooter?" and the guy replies "A bullet to the head should show you" reference to the movie "Bullet to the head" that Sly was in lol 😎
You missed the one where he asks Raiden "Do we get to win this time?" "That depends entirely on you." Same one happens when Trautman's springing John out of prison at the start of First Blood: Part II.

Missed opportunity to make references to the 80's cartoon about Colonel Trautman's request for John Rambo to lead a special unit called "The Force of Freedom" against General Warhawk's paramilitary terrorist organization called S.A.V.A.G.E. (Specialist-Administrators of Vengeance, Anarchy and Global Extortion) all over the globe. In fact, it would have made interesting banter for Sonya, Briggs, and their daughters about that.
Damn I absolutely missed it! The cartoon had him strapping on the headband which is an exact replica of one of the intro poses.
@@ChengTeoh Maybe but I prefer if the character banter was about Rambo's cartoon and not just the Rambo films themselves. To me, the devs did very little research on Rambo outside his movies.

Thanks for showing the original clips that have been referenced in the video. Other videos I saw simply compiled all the intros with no context. Unfortunately, I'm not as familiar with Stallone movies as I am with Arnold's and sometimes I get the movie that's been reference but I do not necessarily recall the exact quote so, it's nice to be able to pinpoint what exactly been referenced. Not sure why some had no clips though maybe they were too obvious (Like _The Specialist,_ for instance)😉.

Plus I'm sure there are some other references that I most likely missed out of forgetfulness or not ever seeing the movie. There could be a Judge Dredd reference in there somewhere but I wouldn't know since it's been ages since I've seen that movie, lol.
