Just came over one of those, a 97, here in Sweden. About 40 USD shipped, sold as ”pioneer”. Collecting is a lot of fun, beside SAK:s I collect watches and in a way albums I guess (just a big fan of music and like my vinyls of classic rock).
I'm interested in Whisky Dan videos. Actually, a few hours ago I bought a couple of bottles of birth year Single Malt Scotch for my oldest child to put away in my cellar. It's hard to find a vintage-year hard liquor but it is a cool gift that they could potentially share with their children and grandchildren. I suppose they can trim their nails with their Swiss Army Knives I have bought for them too.
Interesting video. What was I drinking around Christmas time? Baylis & Hayden Kentucky bourbon. If you did a whiskey and bourbon review channel, I would follow it.
Heh, I love the smoke drifting into shot at the start . Alox scales feel great in the hand, Soldiers are a good pocketable size but something I found when carrying a Farmer around was that I miss the additional small blade on the Tinker and Spartan.
Great addition to your Soldier collection! I don't have a Soldier (yet). If you start up a whiskey channel, I'd tune in. I could probably do a beer channel if I didn't tend to demonstrate my colorful vocabulary after drinking a bomber of bourbon barrel stout!
Hey Dan I have a 99 with the key ring. I collect two things, swiss army knives (because of MacGyver), and whiskeys (mostly bourbon). On the same page for sure and would love to see your take on a whiskey channel, but don't stop the swiss army knife videos.
I have several soldiers, usually 4-5 in each of the years you mentioned, but I don't have any with the key ring. I do have a Dutch version (KL88) with the key ring.
I too like to put that clip on my SAKs, but the little loop is a bit annoying as it digs into my palm when I use the blade (especially on the alox knives).
Often Wengers without year stamp are repaired knives which had broken blades. I bought a Wenger Soldier for cheap and the blade was broken so I sent it to Wenger/Victorinox. They replaced my blade but it had no year stamp. So they have the old blades but can´t stamp the year any more. 2:41 I think yours is a repaired unit. Not original.
Thanks for watching, C.R.! I actually bought that one NIB, it came in one of the later white boxes. Speaking of which, I need to mail in a couple knives for repair. How long did it take to get your knife back? Cheers!
Whiskey Dan!! I'd watch!

I love whiskey too.
I think you could grow a pretty good whiskey tube 👍
Best regards from Denmark

Great to hear from you again Dan!
Great video Dan. That is an unusual find for sure!
Curious, what are we hearing in the background? I can't make it out, but it sounds like chickens/roosters. I gotz ta know.
Whisky
Heck yeah, single malts especially!

I wouldn't mind seeing some whisky reviews from you, Dan, especially if it's Scotch...
I have an '07 Soldier, near mint condition.
I dont like the ring attachment on these! And would rather have the Wenger bail ,i however do have one and its a 95 .
I've been sober for over 30 years, so I probably won't follow the whisky channel.
Good job! One day at a time...
