Had a few laps in the passenger seat of a Westfield (A caterham in all but name) and I can confirm these types of cars are the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Can't wait to play this though, your vids make the game look incredibly good even if it's quite an old build! Keep up the amazing work :)

The fact you can do this in PC2 hopefully means that it has a bit more accuracy at the slip angle of the tyre, my major gripe with PC1, hopeful anticipation !!

Just a quick note, the Caterham 620R doesn't have H-gate, it's a sequential stick shifter in real life. You were more realistic with the paddles. =)

Hey GamerMuscle, Project Cars 1 in VR had the tiremark textures layered on top of the road. The texture with the tiremarks and rubber was just 20 cm above the tarmac.
Is that fixed in Project Cars 2? Do the textures on the roadsurface look correct now?

Love your vids man :) I suggest drifting wither the Mustang or the RADBUL MX-5, as it is actually set up to drift. The other real drift car is the 300+hp GT86. BTW I'm the driver in the Red Bull/PCars2 video on Long Beach :)

Are there proper drift cars in the press build? Interested to see a drift car with proper steering angle for drifting and enough BHP to keep the wheels spinning
What sort of framerates are you seeing in VR? I'll take 90fps and potato graphics over shiny pixels and
I'm on a 1070 i7 6700 OC to 4.4ghz I get 90 FPS almost all the time. I'll do a VR graphics guide soon. I'm sure final version of the game will also run better but the same ideas of which settings will make it run faster should apply.
Thanks for the reply! That sounds very promising! When you said it ran worse than AC I was a bit concerned. Spent a lot of time modifying things that probably shouldn't be touched getting AC to not cap at 45fps with more than a few cars on track (that has to be some sort of bug). Although running solo AC always runs fantastic when cranked to the max. :)
WhipDiddyWhip my R390 runs triples better on pc2 than pc1.
Im running 1070 and triples @ 5760x1080 with most options maxed (A couple on high) with an i7 7700 .. getting 80-110 fps dependant on tracks.. so should easily get 90fps with VR
There are tons of things to tune. I'm running it on a laptop with a Nvidia 675MX (basically the power of an old 580Ti) at constant 60fps. It's not far from pCars 1 performance, so if you can run that, or AC at decent settings, then you should be fine.

Same VR settings I'm using on a GTX1060 (yes really) ... and you really need to get a 5.1 (or 7.1) surround system... the positional audio is even better
physics are looking good, maybe u should invite me for a cup of tea so i can test it out. It would be like killing 2 birds with one stone

Not that I could afford one, and here in Italy they are a lot more expensive than in UK...
I got a shot of a htc vive from my mate but it's just so low res in assetto even with the 5x ss. I can't really use it because of this, Loved the feel of everything else tho.

Even though I have VR, a steering wheel and several compatible racers, I don't do much VR racing... it is a hassle to set everything up just right. My pedals keep slipping away and my steering wheel is badly positioned when I clamp it on my desk. Your videos scratch that itch for me.
Just need a simrig now :P - maybe look for a second hand wheel stand , I started with a wheel stand pro to move away from my desk czcams.com/video/YJ6ismo8-wA/video.html really good bit of kit , small + cheap second hand.
The wheel stand pro rigid, but with two major disadvantages. You have this center-pole between your legs which makes proper pedal-work with all three pedals impossible. Second: there seems to be no carlike-seats on this planet, which will fit and stay solid. I googled my finger bloody. Buying a car-chair and tinkering something so that it fits on the ground in the right position seems to be the only possible solution i found. So better buy a solid rig instead or at least a wheelstand without this pole.
By the way. In Germany i could buy a very solid 80/20-rig for the price of a wheestand pro: KPCR SimRacing Rig SEMI
For a few Euros more there are black caps available that covers the cuts.
Can you make a little video with the photo mode of Project Cars 2? I know for me the first one was a bit of a disappointment with the photo mode.

Mr muscle I will be upgrading my gpu from a 970, could you tell me why you opted for the 1070 and didn't go for something higher?
+Cheleah27 1070 was 350 or so when I bought it - 30 for game it came with. I'm not ritch lol and the 1080 was 500 or so back then with it only being maybe 10-15 FPS faster in most games.
If u got the cash due to price of 1070s now 1080 might make more sense.
GamerMuscleVideos obviously whatever card I go for it's a fair chunk of money, will I see a significant performance boost I currently run iracing on low with my 970 will I be able to run ultra with a 1080 and do you think i would see a difference in VR?

I cannot say for sure but to be honest Id expect it to handle most games to the piont that they are near max graphics + some SS .
How does the game look in the Oculus compared to assetto?
Looks good in VR , does not run as well as AC but it has more details / more advanced lighting so that's to be expected.

Just for your information GM. If you ever decide to use the Vive with the game than try a world scale of 1.15. Personally with the Vive I found 1.00 to be a bit on the small side... both my virtual body (look at the shoulder width) as well as the cars themselves.
I heard 1.00 was correct with the Rift though, so I don't think you need to play with it when using those goggles.
Yah rift and vive for some reason do scale different , might be because the VIVE has more 3D overlap.
Is the ffb more simplified this time, pcars 1 had a stupid amount of options?
Yes only 3 options , can still be a bit of a fiddle to get it right but its 1000x better than PC1.
yes it is, what i have seen there is one option where you choose the way ffb is working, like in informative way or some simulation way and there are 4 options, nothing complicated
Cheleah27 as others mentioned before me. It also has a custom file which can be adjusted to your liking but its quite complicated. I am currently using my own custom ffb file based on the raw preset. I bet therell be a ton of user made custom files when the game is released.
All things considered, this is not even out of Beta, and it's looking very good.
Compare this to Assetto Corsa, which only just recently got decent AI.

Look at your camera movement settings GM. You can get rid of the shaking others are talking about in the comments (Get Sideways) Lower g movement and world movement to lower values 15-25 range.
The cam is at 0 I just have a bobble head due to my DD wheel being quite strong and my head being too fat.

I'm still totally on the fence over Project Cars 2, part of me thinks if it's great, it will still be great in several months time too. However I so want to drive and race in good dynamic weather, though from previous as soon as it rains and night everyone but a few hardcore leave the session.
Yah, It will be down to how good the multiplayer works really if the systems they have done actually work and the net-code and everything else comes together then I think it will be really good fun.
To be honest there is not rush to buy any game, with racing simulators even less so. I mean look at RBR people still play that 40,000 years later AC is already cupple years old still quite active AMS and other sims as well.
A good simulator is like cheese and wine it stays good over time.
@GamerMuscleVideos I use head tracking (as VR still out of reach for me for a long time as I upgrade my PC bit by bit to get there) is it supported in PC2 and how is it implemented, if it is last time it was through helmet cam which I then had to take visor off and turn head bobbing off etc. ?
Would maximizing your drift area (as in, using the whole track width, as you said) not make your laps a tad slower as opposed to sticking close to the corners?
Also nice to see you having some faith in PC2 regardless of PCars' shortcomings. (BRILLIANT drifting as well, mate)
Drifting is not about doing fast laps , If you are drifting you are already WAY WAY WAY off the pace lol.
Yeah, you're definitely right about that. Drifting is quite fun, though, so I'll have to deal with my terribly slow lap times :')

This game seems better and better with every video I watch of it. Will for sure buy it but not preorder because preorder is cancer of gaming. First I want to see what it really is on release day and buy it day later.
I agree , might be worth checking if the pre-order is still open to the steam refund thing that way you can pre-order night before it comes out get the bs stuff from that and then see if you like it or not. Or even just wait see what others say then try the game with recommended settings so you don't waste the 2 hours messing around with stuff and can test it more for yourself.
I would preorder it last day possible because you get a discount and some bonus shit, then wait for the reviews, try it yourself and after trying it for 2 hours you can finally decide whether to keep it or request a refund ;)

I'm growing more and more convinced that recording VR is a bad idea... The constant view point jumping makes me nauseous. I suppose it should be fine when you are the one wearing the HMD and it's your head turns that are being translated into the view shifts, but when your head is stationary and you are watching something like that... it becomes a pain.
Are you sure the helmet is secured tightly enough to your head? Maybe you just need to try moving it less while recording. I don't remember having that kind of a problem when I actually tested OR, but with this video I could barely advance past the 2 minute mark because of the nausea...

Surprisingly, I don't remember it being that bad previously, but the last couple of VR videos from different channels had this jerky head movement. It was so bad in one of them I actually thought there was FaceTrackNoIR used instead of a VR helmet. Turned out to be CV1...
Get Sideways i haven't watched that many VR Videos, but if everyone does it, i won't force myself to Headache any longer
Just keep in mind that it isn't necessarily indicative of what one experiences while using the helmet oneself. If the view follows your head movement with little to no delay, there should be no adverse effects like this.
unrelated to sim racing, but VTOL VR is a kickass game that has a spectator camera, and one of the options is a 'smoothed out head motion' angle. I think all games need this, for those of us who like to record stuff.

Project CARS 2 does not serve to do Drifting in the third person, the
camera is fixed from behind the car, as if it were attached to the
car, removing the game's sense of reality, the camera does not help
when you turn a corner in third person, in any game mode is the same,
should make a patch to make the car look better in the third person,
and so more adrenaline, because you can not see the front wheels when
you turn, it is as if you drive a box of milk, or the car you can
only see the registration, I do not like it for that, I prefer the
grid autosport Drifting, I would like to add a new camera, which one
can modify to put it to taste and choose what side to look in the
curves or Drifting
Project CARS 2 no sirve para hacer Drifting en tercera persona, la
camara esta fija desde atras del carro, como si fuera pegada al car,
quitandole sentido de realidad al juego, la camara no ayuda cuando
giras en una curva en tercera persona, en cualquier modo de juego es
lo mismo, deberian de hacer un parche para que el carro se vea mejor
en tercera persona, y asi de mas adrenalina, por que no se ven ni las
ruedas de adelante cuando giras, es como si se conduce una caja de
leche, o del carro solo le puedas ver la matricula, no me agrada por
eso, prefiero el grid autosport Drifting, quisiera que agregen una
nueva camara, que uno pueda modificar para ponerla al gusto y elegir
que tan de lado se vea en las curvas o el Drifting
wtf why drifting in along track with shitty horsepower ? with short gears -_- disappointing , you need at most on the 4th gear 200 km ratio! 800 hp for optimal long range drifting!
This drifto advice has been uploaded to the gamer muscle brain but will likely be processed incorrectly when it comes to sending the data to hands and feet.
For cars with lower power you want short gears.
