I think the first-ever wing foiling competition was at EngadinWind 2020 where Balz got the first place. Here just a bit of a bad luck for him. But still really cool to see the highlights of this event and to see how the new sport is rapidly progressing.
Thanks for the Video. those guys and girls are absolutely amazing and it is absolutely unbelievable what they can do BUT I am sorry to say that it annoys me very much that you almost always cut away the landings of jumps. As i view the question is does he stand the jump or doesn’t he stand does he fall in the water ? Just jumping without standing is playing around like a child. Don’t get me wrong it’s absolutely OK if someone that good does not stand a jump. But those jumps are not the ones I want to see in the Internet that’s the same as in football if you’re always cut away the goals it’s not an interesting game to watch.
I think it’s cool but it is slow, jumps and tricks are bland, and just nowhere near the level of kiting. Windsurfers can, at least 5 out of the 100,000 that hit waves, can actually do some impressive things, not this though
@@jimmyjames1411 The skill level had increased immensely since this event though. Speeds are at 50-60kph, freestylers are landing double loops / double air moves now. Its pretty much as technical as windsurfing. For me windsurfing lost its shine, winging is awesome for you can ride boards half the size both in liters and length, and it offers so much more freedom to manouver! (Being able to fly through tacks is awesome) Also, its way harder to break your kit winging as you have no mast slamming the nose if you make a mistake. I've been learning windfoiling since 2017, capable of loops, 360s etc., but winging is now totally my main go to sport.
I love how these guys look like the snowboarders of the 80's when they're trying to land a 360...

The EngadinWind 2020 event was a demo contest. This one's the first official competition. ;)

I've never seen this sport before! A combination of kitesurfing, windsurfing and hydrofoil surfing. Cool!

Landing after the tricks is awfull is this sport, it looks so nice at the beginning but after the jumping, the l'angine appelés allais terrible ....
