My Dad taught me to make the palm crosses using 2 toothpicks when I was about 7-8 years old and been making a bunch every year since. Recently gave one to a veteran I found out was very religious and he said it was the most beautiful thing made from Palm that anyone ever gave him and pinned it to his jacket and he wore it everywhere. Since then I give him one every year.

Thank You Father Krysa for sharing this! I have always enjoyed Palm Weaving, but I never learned the cross and toothpick technique. The coincidence is that I was taught this precious art by Mr. Joe Dudek while we were parishioners of Our Lady Help of Christians in Detroit/Hamtramck! It was in the late 1980’s, while Father George Rutkowski was the pastor. Every year while weaving palms, I think about Joe, and try to create the toothpick cross, but give up. Somehow today, Palm Sunday, something drew me to search You-Tube! Amazing coincidence! May you have a Blessed Holy Week🙏

Father Krysa, this is a wonderful tutorial about making the toothpick cross. I especially care for the spiritual significance that you share in your commentary. Thank you for taking time to make this video presentation.

While not as beautiful as the lapel cross, still nice and easier to follow. Thank you

beautiful! do you just use a large straight pin to attach it to the lapel?
