- Ultimate Adventure has been a bucket list trip for me for almost 2 decades. In today's video we will take our Toyota Tacoma on Ultimate Adventure 2022 and see how our little 2021 taco can handle a few days of real trail abuse. We broke stuff, we made friends and had an amazing adventure because @onXOffroad was willing to help me check this off of the bucket list! So, thank you OnX and thank you folks for watching!

One man's broken taco is another man's plate of nachos? 😀 Thanks for bringing us along Nate, it looks like an amazing time (breakages and body damage aside). 👍🇨🇦
Yes indeed, and I love nachos especially with avocados
Lol this is spectacular 👌. Thanks for watching and for making me hungry 😁
@@DirtLifestyle only thing wrong with ifs,,is ifs..no travel, weak, too many parts..you watched offroad hub.. fj crusier. i told him, they break, he fitted s/duty diffs..
@@DirtLifestyle you seem so talented as a fabricator but i don't get the point of this?
They were smart to invite you. Your coverage will most likely get more views than their final product.
Great video.
Well Said!!
Never apologize for getting out there and testing the fruits of your labor. Enjoy the content!
Well Said!
Exactly what I scrolled down for. Dude, you're building to use it! We're stoked to see how it performs on the trail. Thank you for taking us along for the ride!!!
Exactly, sounds like he needs to build his own tube subframe and do some frame reinforcement
That was one heck of an R&D mission with the IFS system.
Have Had a similar experience with the milestar Patagonia's ran them on my rig in 2 different sizes they are all right in dry rock out west but in the east I have had and seen 6 sidewall failures in 4 sets between me and friends.
Yeah milestars only downfall is sharp shale rock into the sidewall.
I love that your truck fits Into a bunch of the "overlanding Toyota" stereotypes but also shatters them.
Does it have a bunch of LED's all over that change color and a rooftop tent? Yes.
Does it do the gnarliest trails at Windrock and crawl up stuff buggy's struggle on? Also yes.
Amazing build Nate. Keep up the amazing content!! You're an inspiration to fabricators and 4x4 enthusiasts everywhere 🤘🤘🤘
Not surprised about that van window, that guy was bombing, how he kept it upright was amazing.
Too True!!
All these folks who are sponsored by Milestar tires never have anything bad to say. I have a feeling that Milestar is providing them with new tires whenever a failure occurs. I've heard many people praise how light they are, but that's because they're missing material compared to other heavier tires IMO. Another great video! You're definitely at the top of my favorite off roaders. Your style is great!
We had 3 sidewall failures on a set of Pats on our XJ. Running the same trails in our JLUR with BFGs and LJ with Swampers has resulted in zero sidewall issues.
The amount of people that run the Pats is sad. I feel like youtube is to blame for their popularity. I run km3 and debeaded and the tire was completely folded over under the wheel. Once I was able to seat the bead, I gave it some air and it was like nothing happened. BFG for life.
That is some gnarly stuff and I am 1000% impressed with the TACO!
We're back!!!! Added to the playlist for tonights viewing. Can hardly wait!
Thanks for the continued support 🙌
For me, it's about doing work on my vehicles so I can go out to enjoy, not going out so I can do vehicle work in the shop. Maybe I need a second dedicated vehicle build, time to talk with the wife me thinks😉. Looks like a lot of fun just the same though 😎
Great video! I've been waiting for more content lol but can we talk about how insanely cool it was to have Fred and Dave for DED guide you? That's awesome
Good days
No apologies needed Nate, you were out there enjoying yourself which you are allowed to do even as a CZcamsr but you were also out there using the trucks you build for why they were built, the video was worth the wait.
Don't apologize. This content is well worth the wait! Glad to see you going back to the KM3s. I am a big BFG fan!
Awesome episode Nate! It’s great to see what you have created being used so no need to apologize for not making a project video. Getting out there is the point and you gotta test what you have made so it’s really a continuation of a build project. Thanks for all you hard work as always!
You got that right!!
I really appreciate your honest review of the tires. It feels like a lot of people are just talking nice about them because they are free tires. That's not to say they are bad, It's just nice to hear your honest experience
Another killer episode Nate! Wheeling content doesn’t seem to get the same love as build videos but honestly this is sick! Thanks for taking us along
Man, you guys were all over my stomping grounds! Windrock is a good park!
I really want to see this Taco in Australia. I don't think those guys have seen anything like the Marlin Crawler IFS setup, they seem to have no concept of something like it and they don't believe IFS can be made robust.
Another great video.
Nate, we need an in-depth video including the geometry of the rear 3 link.
Wicked. Bitchin hearing how well the RCLT held up. That looked extremely rough on gear and people. Well done all.
Lots of broken parts on this trip! There were two broken rear ends in the first 30 minutes of the first trail on the first day lol.
@@DirtLifestyle Insane. Ive loved the UA for years, hell, decades. It always looks brutal, but, hella fun, and the group of people always look top tier. Well done mate.
Yep!!!! Those milestars are super cool until they aren’t…. I switched to the Mickey Thompson Baja boss MT. Super happy so far.
Running water, wet muddy rocks. East coast wheeling at its finest!
Yoooo, i love your videos. I love how y'all really show what your rigs can do. Thanks for not babying it. This is the baddest Tacoma out there. Others are mall crawlers compare to yours...
I remember when the magazine guys built that boat side eco boost regular cab F-150 and I loved that they were pushing what IFS could do. This is great and looks like the technology for IFS has only gotten better since then. Thanks for sharing the experience!
Oh I'd like to see that can you give me more info?
Highly cool Nate thanks for taken us along with you. That looked like some very outstanding place to wheel.
Dude, this is so freaking epic. I know how much work you have put into making your 3rd gen as capable as possible. And even though it still has a ton of factory parts and configurations on it as it is, that thing did so much better than I imagined it would.
This was a seriously awesome video, and I am so grateful that you took us along for the ride. 🤙
I miss seeing Tim Hardy's Sammy. One of my favorite rigs ever.
The Tacoma is definitely cool, but I’m still sticking around waiting for the TJ to get some love!
So cool to watch you wheel your rig. I’m so happy you had the opportunity to go and do ultimate adventures
Pretty cool that a company paid for you to fulfill a dream! Congrats, you deserve it! Can't wait to see more videos again! Thank you!
Good times! Looks like a blast of a trip.
I love seeing the ifs go. It moves well and the formula for ultimate adventure with the 1 ton full body smaller rig on one Tons has been beat to death. This is so different. Solid on the street. Great offroad. That’s a tough balance to strike.
I would agree I with they mad the rtc or whatever it's called for my 2nd gen runner I would totally sell one of my kids to buy it lowland keep it ifs
Thanks man! I'm glad to see some IFS appreciation. And I'm with you, watching IFS work it's way through obstacles is pretty fascinating. The tires travel up and down without rolling onto the sidewall and it just looks cool.
I’m glad your back. Great video. Your not kidding. Windrock off-road park really is amazing. It’s definitely the best place I’ve been off-road.
Awesome! Great to see the Toyota IFS gang did so well.
Dude the IFS has been super fun to use and test in all these new places. I can't wait to use it in the snow! The extra clearance will be wild.
Great video. I loved the tacoma build series. I have seen the Barnes products in several youtubers videos( MORR, Fabrats and yours) , but never realized they were in my back yard until you mapped them.
It was amazing watching you crush it at UA in your video clips! I'm amped to see the UA series this year. Keep up the amazing videos! I don't say this often but.. . Kickass Toyota! :)
Milestar tires are supposed to be really good, and they work great for some people, but I'm sure you won't regret the change to BFG KM3s! KM3s are beasts!!!
Loved this vid. I've watched UA on motor trend and this fresh "boots on the ground" view was great.
I'm impressed the rack and front diff held up. More-so the diff, I think the rack was an upgrade from a Landcruiser if I remember correctly. Make sense that the front subframe wasn't up to the task. A little reinforcement for the rack mounting locations will help. Same thing you'd need to do with a frame mounted steering box.
Having aftermarket front CV shafts is a huge plus on this truck. If those were stock shafts or joints I wouldn't have been surprised if you broke one.
For that bolt that keeps backing out check into some distorted thread lock nuts. McMaster also has flex-top lock nuts. I've never used them though.
Looks like the truck held up really well. Awesome job on the build.
I also have a long travel Tacoma. I flipped the bolt in my uppers so that if the nut falls off gravity wont back it out. Mine is a 2nd gen, not sure if you can do it on your truck but figured it was worth mentioning.
That van is sick 😂 I love their style. Pedal to the floor and don’t worry bout smashin door.
I'm loving the Quigley green van❤.
Good to have you back, Nate! Looking forward to what’s next
That was a great UA perspective. Thanks! (Oh and the Taco did ok too! 👍 😂)
This was a great video, a lot of action and awesome trails. one of the few videos I don’t hear you bashing the Tacoma and comparing it with your Jeep as much… 😂😂😂
I had to notch my motor mount for rclt install. I also installed a PS cooler during install to keep things cool.
Outstanding job, thanks for the adventure.
Great footage, great storytelling. Thanks Nate!
Great to see you back Nate! and the great coverage on UA! Thanks for all of your hard work to make videos!!
Welcome back to social media and providing another fantastic video! Looks like UA was a blast and looking forward to seeing their production as well as your next build videos! Thanks for the ever consistent and always phenomenal videos.
The camera never does it justice. Nice work in the taco!
Thanks! I'm having alot of fun in this thing!
Nice adventure. You needed the break! Building content I am super stoked for new ideas!!
Glad to see you're back! Hope the vacation with the family was nice!
Man I love that you wheel the Tacoma like that. I do miss TJ footage though 😢
This tacoma has been a blast lately but the TJ is my favorite 4x4 by far. I can't wait to get back to the TJ! It will be the biggest build I have ever done.
Nate! Thank you for getting something out there! I’ve been anxiously waiting to see what you have been up to. Thanks for the great, well thought out and well edited content my friend!
Welcome back Nate. Good to see you you back on! Great wheelin spot! All together great episode!
I like the rock pile type of rock crawling. The vertical wall that makes your ride feel like you are on a SpaceX launch is not my type.
Also you need the sticker that says, "Remember, idiot! You have to drive this thing home. So don't break anything"
Lol yes I do
Great video! Glad to see the taco did you well. Your fine tuning that thing to perfection!
*you're
Thanks man! I have to keep tweeking and tuning. This truck is worth it 🙌
Have loved UA for years! Congratulations on running it! Thanks for sharing the awesome footage, rough trails and your super cool Tacoma. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Found your channel a week or so ago. I’ve probably watched 6 hours of it by now. LOVE your content man!
Thanks for sharing your experience at UA Nate! Loved your music choices! Looking forward to the next video 👍!
Dude what an awesome time!!! So glad you are back and it looks like you had the trip of a lifetime!! Rad stuff as always brother 👊🏻👊🏻
love it Nate!!! Can't wait for the full video from them
Nate, you did a great job. Appreciate your efforts and expertise.
Love IFS and to see more of you at UA!! 👍🇨🇦
When it looks gnarly on camera... I can only imagine it in person. Sorry to hear about all the Milestar failures yeeeeeassh...
Glad to see your back. Looks like it was an awesome adventure.
Great video Nate! I like you mindset of wheel for the week, not the obstacle. Pretty impressive how the IFS ran and watching it work through terrain, too bad it’s so costly. Can’t wait to see more building content regardless of what truck you bring back! Hopefully the jeep pickup gets some love. I was super pumped about the video when you were talking about your plans for it. Keep it up buddy!
This was great. I really enjoyed they trail parts, walking through the repairs, and the good the bad and the ugly. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the taco and have some fun. Thanks for sharing!
WINDROCK Trail #39/#40 is one of my favs anywhere!
Just did them last week, although it was wetter
Hey Nate on minute 8:34-8:49 I noticed a clicking sound taking place as the front tire rotated. Do you know where that came from? I just recently installed my RCLT kit on my 3rd gen Tacoma and was hearing the same clicking sound coming from my front driver side when I took it wheeling for the first time. Would be great to know more about where it’s coming from if you have any info on it!
If you have RCV's with your setup then that is most likely what it is. Google/youtube rcv clicking and you will find a bunch of posts about it.
Welcome back home. Love the videos. This adventure looked so much fun.
Nice work on showing this awesome footage. The variety of rigs and builds was amazing.Total respect for all of the rigs.
Great job on the video! Thanks for making it.
Have always wondered if IFS would survive on UA, thanks Nate 🤘🇨🇦🇺🇦
Excellent video, from the trail footage to the breakdown. From a wheelers point of view. This is the best there is.
Great footage. Glad your rockin KM3's. Back to work.
Incredible build! Enjoyed your videos. Thanks.
Great video, as usual, great to have you back! In my humble opinion the km3 looks A LOT better than the patagonias, my 39" km3 on my LJ are my favorite tires so far.
Good content , and great action in the video of the UA, especially given the conditions.
I love throttle control crawling, as opposed to toggle switch-type driving. One takes lots of skill, and the other takes a deep pocketbook.
Nice on-the-fly steering rack fix! It is nice to have friends in the industry.
You really are changing minds on IFS vehicles, except Bronco has dug themselves a pretty big hole. Nicely done on your part. You didn't say anything in this video about your bobbed utility box in the rear, but we can see it makes a big difference.
Dud I love this! I have been reading Peterson’s 4wheel and off road since I was 16 and have followed most of the Ultimate Adventures. Seeing you go on this trip was a blast. Glad you got the chance to come do some wheelin on the east coast. Don’t be a stranger and come back. Would love to see some meet and greets on this side of the country.
Me too! Checking this off of my bucket list is a dream come true and I will definitely be back. Windrock was so damn cool.
Awesome video, thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed the analysis of the failures, it will help us all build better rigs. thank you
Glad you enjoyed it man!
Keep up the good work Nate!
Welcome back! We missed you! Love from San Diego!
Welcome back mate. Love your vids.
Thank you! It's great to be back!
I was right, got more wheeling content from this than any of last year's official UA videos.
I use the BFG km3 39.5x13.5 r17 on my 2nd gen Taco, I think you will like how they roll. They are great, I mean great in mud! I wish they made a real 40, but oh well. Can't wait to see those on.
Owsome drive. Thanks for sharing. 😃
Cheers. 🍻
This was awesome! Thanks for sharing! No apology required!
I ran aluminum skids on my 2008 Canyon. They worked, but they got bent up pretty bad when you introduced them to rocks.
Dude that chevy EXPRESS MAN😂
Can’t wait to see the full ua videos! Taco did great! Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks for sharing. Missed your regular weekly posting.
Great footage Nate, No need to apologies for going out Wheeling. for 34 days and not posting videos right away. we all understand. Looks like you had a epic wheeling adventure. An hung out with a great group of wheeler.
Been missing the hell out of you Nate. Thanks for fantastic video as always.
Awesome video, very impressed with the Taco!. Looks like there were some super cool rigs, I love that squarebody and the van, I've been watching clips on IG of that van bouncing all over the place, was great to see it in action in your video. Your build videos are always top notch, but I really enjoy your wheeling stuff too.
keep up the killer content, cant wait to see the UA footage. always nice to see a good mix of build and wheelin content.
Man you guys were super close to home this year. I know where you stopped at that advance and the private off-road place you guys went too.
