(SETUP TRICKS TIPS HOW-TO) The #VeryCoolGang #Unboxes the MILWAUKEE M18 PACKOUT RADIO + CHARGER (2950-20) Some of you have left comments about how unhappy you are because the packout radio charger will not charge the M12 battery platform. In this video we show How to setup up the milwaukee M18 packout radio charger and give tips and tricks to charging M12 redlithium batteries with the #milwaukeetool M18 PACKOUT RADIO + CHARGER
i want to see Vince walking thru the streets of south philly with the radio on his shoulder like those boom boxes from back in the day in the 80's 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I would thoroughly love to see that as well, with that song from Saturday Night Fever, you can tell by the way I use my walk, that I'm a ladies man, no time to talk!! Lol🕺
@@williamdavis922 No rock the bells by LL Cool J
Why would you want to see that? Have a crush on him or something?
Brilliant, I’m a Brit from Leicester, and find the way he explains and talks fascinating 🤣🦊👍
Please do a comparison between the new and old M18 charger/radios!
I would, personallywant to see sound level, bass strength, sound spread, run time on battery, scratch test on the time display etc :)
Stuff like that!
Great vid man. Glad I found ya
They need to incorporate a rapid charging system into this radio that has charging for both 12v and 18volt.
Then I would buy one.
Yeah otherwise I don't see the purpose.
Id also like to see it be more compact, taking up only one slot so you can put your tool bag next to it.
One?
For this pricepoint yes a rapid charge shouldve been incorporated
i’m a bit late to the video but if anyone is still wondering about the passive radiator, it adds extra bump to the small subwoofer. works very well. since one speaker is usually enough to hear the low end frequencies
Just got this pack out radio two weeks ago and it’s amazing the sound is very loud and clear as far as the audio auxiliary jack I was able to plug in my laptop to show a OSHA scissor lift training video session to a new hire making sure he could clearly hear the video on site and everything else about this thing is awesome
I want one of these radios myself. And when I’m not taking it to work with me, I plan on buying the world’s most fanciest milk crate (aka Packout crate) and mounting that on a wall mount plate, then click the radio into the bottom of the milk crate. That way, i can read and adjust the display and still use the crate for storing things.
The passive radiator is a speaker. It uses the active subwoofer’s air pressure to move in and out. It’s a way to get more sound without needing more power.
With that logic, then a port is also a speaker 🤷♂️ Js…….
@@travispathway4647 it kind of is, wether it helps or worsens the sounds depends
The fact that it doesn’t turn up super loud I think benefits the sound quality Bose does the same thing my little bose doesn’t turn up excessively loud but the quality of sound is never compromised. I really like this radio but I do think the price is steep
New Jersey Workshop that has nothing to do with clarity.
@@RoyALpro_yt yeah it does, speakers distort and clip when they are driven too hard
@Bryan Kraemer, still, nothing to do with clarity. Distorting and clipping only happen when your speaker is getting too much watts. Clarity is the quality of the sound. The reason why it don't get loud is lack of performance. They could have easily made it louder. Products like this one and your bose have a limiter in them to prevent blowing your speakers. Reasons why would be to accommodate for the differences in cell phones or mp3 player that are hooked up to them. In short and obvious, bigger amp+biggerspeaker=more sound. Oh and clarity from Bose is in the acoustic design of the box and has little to do with Bose speaker quality. And by the way, I'm a sound Engineer.
@@RoyALpro_yt No argument about Bose, they engineer their boxes to get whatever their "signiture sound" / frequency response is. However, speakers can clip while under their rated power.
It's essentially being fed a square wave instead of a sine wave which limits excursion. The voice coils are cooled by airflow from the cone moving which doesn't happen while clipping.
I don't own one of these units to take it apart so you might be right about them not powering the drivers properly.
I have had my eyes on the pack out radio for a while now and after this video I’m going to be pulling the trigger on it. I have the boom box radio already but being able to put it on my pack out system makes my life that much easier!! Love the pack out greatest system for us blue color workers!!!
Also yes to the sound off between the two radios!
Can you tell Milwaukee to make a "packout" that is drawers on the bottom?
Also I am in my early 30's...... AM RADIO FOR LIFE!!!!!!!
Also I have problems with AM radio on any radio, in my truck my favorite station is AM 1140 in Southern Alberta, but sometimes I need to tune it to AM 1150 for the channel to come in clear. Sometimes in the middle of a trip across town I need to retune the AM radio.... I would assume that there is no problem with the Milwaukee product, it's just the inferior nature of the AM radio format in general.
Ya got ya drawers wish
Great video 👍 i still rock the OG Milwaukee Rockford Fosgate radio & still sounds awesome nearly 15 years later...
How do these Milwaukee's stack up to the Bosch cube radio in loudness and sound quality?
@@shadowbanned58 im not sure about the cube but mine is around 15 years old and still as loud and clear as it was brand new.
@@patmchugh8725 I've heard nothing but good about the OG milwaukee but technology has improved and we all know how seriously those germans take engineering!😏
I'm a Milwaukee guy but some stuff I'll cherry pick. Had to get the cube. They're vac systems are great too!
I actually use the M12 adapter with my pack out light as a charger AND when the kids need a battery pack for their iPad I pop it out and they use it a portable battery pack.
Model number?
I bought one and its definitely impressive, even though its a little over-priced. And i particularly like how it charges my phone via USB without needing the power cable plugged in.
Seems like a pretty well thought out radio. But the price should be closer to $200 I believe
Completely agree. $299 is too much for that.
Shit I think even $200 prices a lot of people out when you have tools to buy and your coming up through the trades. Luckily they have the cheaper options to
Since it cannot use the radio while charging it should be around $100
@@Originalxlander it had a minor issue only on AM. Most barely even know of an am channel anymore
@@JoshTheElectric No vcg very quickly said you cannot listen to the radio while a battery is charging.
Yo Vince, received my packout system Monday, THANKS TO YOU I'M HAPPIER THAN A PIG IN....... well, you know what I mean 😆😆. Now I'm going to have to buy the radio. You make me want to buy more and more tools 😆😆. Thanks brotha, you da man!!
vince love the channel - you, tool boss, and concord carpenter have really helped- i'm a dewalt guy just picked up the 2.0 love it for 199 - not a better time to be in construction with all the technology, organizational tools, and tools its freaking amazing - so we don't hold the red against you!
Not bad Vince, but i'll myself hold off this Awesome Packout purchase untill they come out with 2.0 multi-charger packout, or get the M12 hack included along with a Awesome, possible member's only price. Later VCG, thxs for another entertaining helpful video. KUDO'S!!!
First thing I did was do this little trick last year when I got my packout radio using my heated jacket charger and 3.0 battery. Easy solution!
I definitely want to see a comparison between this and the older m18 radio/charger. I'm torn between which one to buy, I don't have a packout except for all tool box to keep some of my mechanic tools in, I just want loud and clear tunes for when I'm camping or working on the cars and whatnot.
Looks really nice. Sounds amazing. But due to the weight, the price, and since I'm more into the dewalt line, I went with Dewalts Toughsystem 2.0. The squad has been loving it.
They used that style of antenna on the M12 radio. Which I still have 9 years later! Yay!
I just wanted to say I appreciate your live video from Home Depot and answering my comment how do you truly feel about the Milwaukee radio I appreciate the answer and your honesty
Thanks Joseph, I appreciate you Cuz!!
Nice review bud. I’m 100% on board though, no M12 charging is definitely not cool and for me, a deal breaker. Really wish Milwaukee would have a radio that would charge and run on the M12 batteries too.
at the price it should come with the m12 charging pod...e shouldnt have to spend the extra 50 bux to get it.
They have the m12 jobsite radio that will run off of an m12 battery and charge also. Its not Packout but I use mine in a noisy factory nearly every single day and its very loud for how small it is.
@@chrisdeschenes8898 I know. I preordered it when they announced it. Love the radio, not big on the charger cable not being built into it though. But it’s definitely quality stuff.
Vince , got mine today . $269.00 with the $30.00 off at Depot . I'm impressed with the sound and volume however its heavier than what I expected. Time will tell .
🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️Yup that’s me buying for a loved one (My husband)…this is sooooooo cool to know! I was curious as to how it will all look when it comes together and wow it looks super nice!
Step 1: wait for release
Step 2: wait for a sale
🤣🤣👍🏻
You forgot
Step 3 wait fo VCG review
mr taz Mania devil you should probably watch that before buying it on sale :)
Best talk radio on stream apps. I like it but not paying 279 to get started with packout. Il. Put it my bose mini and blow it away
I bought it and wasn’t blown away by sound. I have a Harmon Kardon Aura that provides plenty of immersive sound and Bass.
My biggest grievance was that it didn’t charge m12 batteries. You solved that with this video so thanks to you I may keep it! My HK Aura 2 does take a savage beating...
Thanks for the help!!!!
I think the biggest disappointment is impossible to work around considering the design. You see it and you expect something with speakers moving 14” depth of air, in reality they’re tiny speakers in each corner with a hollow battery mounted between them. Pound for pound anything else remotely similar size should provide much larger sound
Or they should’ve made the battery department MUCH less large and taken advantage of it but I guess it depends on what people expect of it. The size will certainly lead to some disappointed customers though
How do you charge a 12v battery with a 5v usb? 🧢
Glad you guys grew in channel! Been a VCG fan since 2017 when you guys had a few subs, keep the vids coming but take time for personal things like family and business
I am a huge Milwaukee fan however I would like to see a 110 v aux outlet like my bosch radio. It actually has 4 110v outlets I use 1to power my Milwaukee m12 4 pack battery charger, and 3 other devices, like Vince said m12 battery both the round and square battery are very popular on job sites. Don't make a charging system that only charges 1 type of battery 12v or 18 I would wire a 4 outlet box between the radio and the plug in cord. Milwaukee should use the top of the radio as a charging base for 12v and 18 v battery,s but you would have a radio and charging station all in 1 Milwaukee almost got it perfect , next time perhaps. Great video Vince.
A side by side sound off sounds good for the old radio and charger vs the packout radio and charger
I have both, it’s no contest. Seriously.
The old jobsite radio was similar in volume and performance and clarity to my Sony SRS-XB3 Bluetooth speaker. The packout radio is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay louder, clearer and it charges batteries. It fills our 6-bay shop to the point the customers complain from the waiting room. And the bass is deep and rich, the sound is crystal clear.
@@colemanbonner um okay
“Brushless” 😂
Vince you are Hilarious! I love watching your videos and I appreciate your sense of humour, and all the good information you give!
Love that radio... just hate the knob! Everytime you pick it up by the handle your knuckles hit the center button, turning it on and off unintentionally. I wish it was recessed or all the interface was buttons like the other ones that are on it.... seems like it's a moving part, on the front, that sticks out and doesn't really need to be that way. Otherwise, I love it! I canny tell you the number of times I roll in my stack and turn it on while setting up and all the other contractors come out of the shadows from all over the job site to see what the HELL SOUND SO DAMN GOOD and just stand there smiling and staring at it for 45 minutes. It's a great great great radio. Was expensive at the time but knowing what I know now, I'd buy it again in a split second!
I’ve had this for a year and i love it whats funny is the girls who clean up my jobs when im done always admire the thing
Nice radio just can't justify spending 300 on a work radio especially before holidays. Throw us a special PLEASE! even if it was a free tool or battery. Thank you for your show
Got mine delivered for $256.
Thanks for tip I have those adapters came with jacket & hoodie.
Where from my friend ✌️
Love mine, been rocking out with it for a few days now. Probably not quite loud enough for working outdoors, will see when the weather gets better, but it is plenty loud for working indoors.
I honestly don't think it charges as fast as the standard M18/M12 charger. I tried charging two 9 AH batteries yesterday (from full dead), one on the regular charger and one in the radio, and the regular charger seemed to charge at least 25% faster than the radio. Will try again another time to see if I missed something. Be a good thing for VCG to test as well.
Great commentary, I can't say that I disagree with anything Vince said. Totally honest and fair review of the product as always. You guys are the best in the business, just waiting on that 12" miter saw review! 😂
Still not sure it was worth $299 though.
We're you using the radio while charging? Maybe that makes a difference.
@@patrickmiller1674 I honestly don't remember. I don't think so, but I don't remember for sure. Will have to try again to see if that makes a difference.
@VCG the 2.1amp at 5V is the output of the USB port. Basically for smartphones you want higher than 1.7amp output in order to actually charge your device. Fast chargers are usually around the 2.4 amp range.

DEWALT TOUGH SYSTEM RADIO 2.O
yogi yes I second this! Race em launch en and blow em up 💪🏼
Yep gotta know the sound comparison with other radios
Yes, the ultimate showdown, high noon!! Let's see it fellas
Yup! We need to see this!!
I’d love to see that video
Broke the handle off the very first day on my packout , just a small design issue. Still very happy with it.
Great job as usual fellas, I think a head to head between the old job site radio and this one would be great, see which one sounds better, louder, which charges batteries faster, etc. See if it’s worth the price compared to the OG. Thanks VCG!
They missed on not including M12 in radio charger IMO. Great workaround, but charging through USB is painfully slow. No love for the M12 tool users!!! They sell M12 in packout so no excuse. Still waiting for the power station using M18 or M12 batteries. No idea why they are years behind Dewalt on that one. Still a Team Red fan!!
I agree. I'm afraid it would take all day to charge a 12v battery. Thanks for the review. I don't even have 12v tools, but leaving that charging option out makes it easier for me say no to the new radio. I'll probably just throw a little Bose Bluetooth speaker into one of the packout boxes and call it a day.
passive radiator is to tune the enclosure for better sound
Hey bud. The passive radiator is DEFINITELY a speaker. It's just not an internal powered voice oil.
I wonder if milwaukee is going to make a compact m12 radio for the packout system
😍😍😍
Me too
Can’t wait!
The jingle about KYW News Radio got me to subscribe. Grew up listening to it with my dad for years driving in and out of Philly.
3 things before I'd buy it at it's current price:
1) it should include 2×12v and 2×18v quick charging
2) they should sell an optional extendable antenna that is packout compatible for the REALLY rural jobs
3) incorporate a small ambient light to it.
22:48 CRACK OF THE KNEES, glad I'm not the only one
Put the pack out head to head with tough system for 2.0
I got a ridged pack... been picking up Milwaukee tools.. will have fully loaded packout by end of the year!
Man Vince, bro your pack out set up is looking pretty nice there buddy. I have to say if i wasnt so deep into the Dewalt tough system I’d make the jump over to Milwaukee. I really Iike all the pack out but i think I’m sticking to what I’m already invested in and holding out for the tough system 2.0. Thanks for sharing Vince!
2.0 radio is on sale right now, save a hundo
Already scored it at the depot cuz! Just waiting to add some of the new 2.0 boxes to my set up. I watched your video on the tough system 2.0 boxes, they look pretty solid! I’ve been using tough system for years and I can’t wait for the new boxes to drop.
I'm planning on purchasing it after the Holidays fellas, it would be awesome to have a head to head comparison against the Dewalt Tough System radio guys!!
I have been waiting for this. I am glad they finally release it. Thanks for your review. Not on the shelves yet here in Maryland.
I have the old radio charger and im glad this packout has more internal storage then mine --- the old style is tight to put the 9 amp batteries and grab the handle----- great review
Always a pleasure listening to you. There's one thing I gotta say about the Milwaukee Packout system and that the rolling tool box packout handle looks flimsy . I think they should go back to the drawing board with this. When I load up my packout with stuff in it, it starts to to feel weak. Almost to the point where it will fail.
If read this , I just wanna say ,, I love your videos man . I'm a Milwaukee fan , and have a few lol . I love when my coworkers dewalt impact takes s s**t and my fuel is driving screws home 🤣 . I recently bought a Milwaukee 25' wide blade double sided tape measure with the finger hold ,best tape measure I've bought 👍 vs a dewalt tape ,no competition there ,or is there ? Thanks for in depth tool reviews man , fun to watch! Up here in Canada 🇨🇦
Hello again Vince and Vcg
Thank you for another Great Video. That Great sound. Again thank you
Hello George!
I can't wait for the day when all those job side radios gonna get digital radio function thanks for the review VCG
I bought Bosch jobsite radio 13 years ago. It has a 4 way spliter that is very handy. Also a 12V outlet. Aux in and out. I want to buy when it has atleast has 120v power outlet on there.
Hey I was laughing my ass off since I’m 63 and I listen to talk radio all day so funny you, you whipper snappers you
🤣🤣👍🏻
The Packout Static :) My radio in my shop sounds like its picking up aliens when I am using the chargers. lol I had a whole conversation with ET the other day
😂😂
Hey you young whipper snapper After watching your review I went and purchased one and I absolutely love it
Hello everyone,. I think the Milwaukee radio is nice, unfortunately not $300.00 nice. Also a person has to take into account that the radio is not a money generating item. I like the concept of a pack out radio. A good example is. Do you need to pay a Nordstum's or Macy's price (Milwaukee) or will a Walmart budget get the same or better results. Bosch is $150.00 plus tax at the Lowe's. Love mine !!! Awesome sound !!!! The only down side is it don't mount to any box system. I use Ridgid boxes, so for me it is a non- issue. Food for thought everyone. Awesome video Vince, Thank you !!!!!
Stephen Lee I think the ability to lock it to the pack out is huge. My Makita radio is a pain in the ass to wheel around on the pack out as it is just small enough to fall out between the handle.
@@kds471 True, I understand why the Makita radio would be a problem. Can you put your radio inside one of your larger Pack Out boxes. I have a 12V Milwaukee Am/FM radio that is small enough to ride nicely in one of my Ridgid boxes. Another thought is that you could put it in a tool designed back pack. I do a lot of assembly and small repairs in apartments. My Milwaukee back pack is the first think I grab out of my truck. It would hold a radio nicely if I needed it to. The point is, if there is a well there is a why. Good luck to you in your work.
Not able to charge the m12 batteries is a bomber you show us a fix but why expend the extra 50 Milwaukee should it thought about it
It's a cool extra to have anyway, I already have one. Not for the purpose of charging M12's via USB, but to have a battery back up for my phone, anywhere at any time...
I don’t give a damned about radios, but I’m very impressed by dividing my work weight, so it’s more controllable , & fits in more places. I went out, to day, & bought the set. Hopefully, I won’t be leaving tools, that I need, behind me after I get there. Nice video, thanks!
Lol, you are correct about the old timer. Folks sitting next to me just said that.
It's been a few years since this video came out but I still want to address the young whipper snappers not listening to radio on the jobsite! The AM/FM radio feature with a good antenna is paramount to keeping people off the phone. Some days you don't want to be changing songs or having your notifications accidentally go to the entire jobsite. Nobody fights over the songs being played unless a preset gets you something better or off commercials.
I like the toughsystem 2.0 power adapter better then the packout radio cord being permanently attached but I will need to get the packout radio soon
Hi Guys!!! Awesome radio! I don't think the AM battery static issue is a show stopper. About any device affects AM reception. Hey Vince/Nick, can the bluetooth feature of the radio allow someone to make/receive hands-free phone calls through the radio speakers? It would need a microphone for that. You know, a built-in, swivel (up-n-down) LED "flashlight" might be nice to have when working in a dark work area especially if it was elevated on top of the Packout system.
I’ll need to explore the hands free calls further, but my older radio charger would not allow it!
It looks like a very nice product. I wish it had an m12 charger but at least you can plug one into it. Great video
Vince, you and the fellas run a really great programme. Great work! The 'Like' button has been thoroughly smashed.
Thanks transit, we appreciate it!
Great review. You showed. many if not all the features that are important to me. I liken it but the lack of M12 charging is one negative but not a deal breaker. New subscriber here.
I’m only 30 years old man and I still listen to both am and fm.
I can’t believed i missed the deal. Pack outs were gone within the hour of opening. I still got some nice things at Home Depot like Milwaukee drill bits and a a ryobi pressure washer and a few other things! I still want a pack out for my van tho!!
I listen to Rock 1053 San Diego. "The Show"
Wow that Milwaukee rep is smokin
You really have a sense of humor.
Thank you for the review. One thing this radio does not have vs the dewalt radio is 2 extra 120 volt that you can plug 2 more accessories like fans or 2 extensions cords.
Yo fantastic moves there Nick. 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the content @VCG Construction! I like the new radio. I've always been impressed with the sound of the old m18 radio, and my little octagon "pill" shaped radio. The Bosch 360 and tough system radio both have a sub and passive radiator as well and call them "dual subs." Most people don't know what the heck a passive radiator is, so I suppose they are just following suit there. Still 9 +1 is a lot of "components packed in a packout." (Say that 3 times fast 😂)
I really like the idea of having the packout capabilities, and not having to strap a separate jobsite radio down. Or carry it separately. Despite the milwaukee radios and the tough system radio We have, We tend to use the ol' heavy Bosch 360 jobsite radios. The built in quad gfci is a nice touch. I wish milwaukee would have incorporated a couple in the packout radio. But that's likely what makes the Bosch Soooooo doggone heavy. And when on FM we do get interference when plugging things in. Idk it is a tough call. I know there's ways around it also. We have the little 5 way gfci blocks, but I prefer things plugged in up off of the floor on a work table.
If the price comes down to Bosch and dewalt tough system prices, or some big promo deal comes along I will pick one up, because you know I just gotta have it. I think milwaukee could have added a few more bells and whistles, but at the same time, simple and functional is the ticket on a jobsite I believe. I think milwaukee should have had at minimum an m12 charging port, as we have nearly as many m12 tools as m18. Almost all of our specialty tools are m12, and having chargers scattered around just sucked. (Hence why I made a designated packout rapid charger station) but maybe they can throw a charger like you showed in. Like buying a heated axis or tough shell bare tool or not, they provide the newest gen m12 usb charger/power source. At 3 hundo..... I think I will hold out. But we know how milwaukee does. I hope to pick one up soon for like a buck fifty. Or maybe 199 with a free battery promo. Please make it At least a 6.0 HO or 9.0 HD at minimum milwaukee. We know it won't be an 8.0 HO or 12.0 HO unfortunately, but we all have enough 5.0's that they just sit around unused. Lol!
Thanks again for the video!
#VCG4LIFE
Like it, but just not loud enough.
I am watching this video hooked up through Bluetooth on my new pack out radio. I like this radio a lot, is it just me or does it sound better when hooked up to other pack out boxes. Maybe it just looks cooler.
Good morning and Happy Saturday, VCG! Great job on Black Friday! Have a great day and keep up the good work!👍🧰⚒🔩⚙️🔧🔨🧰😍
Forget the product, this guy is great - @24:16 product would be great on the graveyard shift at a cemetery, not loud enough for site with all the power tools etc.
Your correct vince the passive radiator is not. Speaker it a air port for the sub there only 9 speakers from what I can see
Just ordered it hope i’ll be able to use it on job before christmas vacancy 🙏😭
I consider Milwaukee to be in the premium category with their somewhat premium prices. I have been waiting for their next gen radio for about 4 years now and I have to say that I am disappointed.
Bluetooth 5.0
Bluetooth 5.0 had been in phones and out for three years now and for this price I was hoping it had it.
I realize that my problem might be a job site specific problem but I like to carry my phone while using the Bluetooth (otherwise I find it pointless to have a Bluetooth option).
Love the reviews and hoping you might do a review dealing with how well the Bluetooth works over different distances.
Two examples that are specific with me: I carry my phone in my back pocket and when I have the current gen radio on a roof peak and I climb down the ladder to get something from the ground it will cut out once I get past the eaves (Even smaller roofs).
The second is just line of sight and when I squat it seems to affect the signal.
Nice radio! I like how it attaches to your pack out, Happy Saturday! Great job on Black Friday 👍🏻keep up the great work 😊 I listen to am/fm radio 📻🤣
This is truly a great channel plus you are very funny, I do appreciate it very much. Thank you!
D. From out there in the maze.
At 9mins mark, I believe I figured out how he found out how to charge the m12 batteries...I would have to say I didn’t even think of that. I have 2 of those compact chargers I don’t use. Guess I will now
What’s the wattage on the amp??
Good job want to get one and wasn't sure 🤔. But after this I definitely will get one. All the way from Australia Queensland
It’s funny seeing dewalt guys use Milwaukee pack outs
The most important part is the bottle opener, how are you going to get work done without some beers.
Can't believe it doesn't have DAB. Is digital radio not a thing in the states?
vince you could tune in your smart phone on am talk radio thru your MR and no more static.
Man I'm totally gonna make a fishing set up with this whole thing.
2.1 amp is the output of the usb port depend on the color of the usb port on whether it is usb 1.0 or 2.0 or 2.1 or 3.0
Well I didn't see you Poppin any tabs off any ice cold beverages while making this video to show off the handy dandy bottle opener they conveniently integrated above the power chord🤣😂🤣💪💪👊
