I like Madonna but Lady Gaga is 100% right about everything she said here.
The classiest, sweetest, and most genuine response she could've given. She was fought with jealous, bitter, pathetic insults and she came back with love, acceptance, and encouragement to be better. She's so right, Madonna is trying to drag us back to the days where we didn't know any better than to hate and insult each other to get by. She's just... So much better than anyone else in this industry. Your musical taste is your musical taste but this is a person who is kind and amazing at heart.

I like how Cher and Cindy Lauper have both given their support to Gaga. They are icons, in their own rights, and don't feel- or at least don't show it- through the need of not supporting "this younger generation's pop star". Michael had high hopes for Chris Brown and never said anything bad about him- or anyone else for that manner- even going as far as wishing him a happy 18th b-day. In the end, its not wise to be old and "hold on to the past" and instead allow and support the new torcholders.
See? Lady Gaga is the bigger woman. I used to be a Madonna fan, but her aggressive behavior is off putting. I know Gaga said "don't call me a queen," that was awesome of her, but if the crown fits - wear it, honey! :)

Madonna is a legend, yes. But Gaga is becoming a legend too. She's talented, creative, innovative. She is not just a singer, she is an artist and she cares about her music and her fans more than any other artist out there today. All you Madonna fans says Gaga copies, shes not talented, shes a "phony" etc. You all try to put her down and you all try to make her feel bad about herself and while yes some outfit's may resemble Madonna's, some songs may sound similar, You can't say that Madonna is 100% original, because she's not. No artist is 100% original. Marilyn Monroe was a major inspiration for Madonna and it shows completely in Madonna's music video for "Material Girl". It's 100% recycled from Marilyn Monroe's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes "Diamonds Are A Girls Best friend". At the end of the day, Madonna feels threatened by Gaga. Why? Because Madonna has come to end. Her run is over. She's a bitter and jealous old woman who feels the need to mock Gaga and insult her over and over for no reason. If anything, Madonna should feel proud, she should feel happy that she is one of Gaga's main inspirations. She tries to become relevant again by trying to put down one of the worlds best artist. Gaga doesn't want to be our "Queen". She doesn't want to be "The New Queen Of Pop". She wants to make music, she wants to be happy and she wants to make her fans happy. Madonna will never understand that, and all you "haters" (AKA Madonna fans) will never understand that either. So while you are all hiding behind your computer screens calling Gaga a cunt, a man, fake, untalented, unoriginal, a copy cat, using the gays, irrelevant, a flop, a clown, and whatever you need to call her to make yourselves feel better, Understand that she is a human too. This "war" needs to end and while I understand that some Little Monster's freak out and lash at Madonna fans, Know that they are not Gaga fans. They don't understand her message and what shes about. That's the exact point! I too have been watching Gaga since the beginning when nobody know who she was, and she rarely if ever brought up the name Madonna more than in passing and saying that Madonna and many other artists inspire her.
There's a difference between having someone else influence your work, and literally and blatantly copying a chord progression and putting different words over it. I have no issue with it as long as you tell people that's what you did "as an homage".

I saw an interview with GaGa when that whole controversy hit.
She said that the song was very well established cord progressions and that she never heard Madonna's song. She then said that if she was copying Madonna, then Madonna was copying every disco song from the 70's. I didn't write down the exact show it was . There is no way she didn't hear that song in NYC during her childhood. I love GaGa's music I just thought she should have gave some credit where it was due.

The backdrop in the screens when she sings Born this way makes reference to the icons Madonna thinks gaga is based on (David Bowie and Madonna) and some things gaga use in a similar way than they, for example conic bra, hair pony tail, and bowie's thunder in the face. Plus she sings a part of "She's Not me", which if you remember is a strong song, makig reference of a girl who copies everything from her.

Actually, the fans adopted the term "Little Monsters" on their own. She was addressing the crowd-- how eager they were, how utterly crazed they were-- "like little monsters" and it stuck. Philadelphia. We address ourselves as that, she always calls us her fans interchangeably along with "Little Monsters".
