- One of the best things about kayak fishing is the crazy level of customization you can get away with. Combine that with a TON of on the water fishing experience and mix it in with some engineering genius and you end up with Navarre Kayak Fishing. We told you we were getting into some Old Town kayaks again and Y'all told us the first thing we needed to do hit up Navarre. So we did.

What are your go to kayak upgrades?
Navarre is the reason why I chose Old Town over another Hobie. Nick has worked out fixes for every little annoying thing in OT kayaks. The fact that OT hasn’t hired him to improve their designs is a crime lol
I have so many Navarre updgrases on my Pdl 120. Nick is a great guy too. I had a question about one of my orders and as soon as he got my email he called me back so I wouldn’t have to wait for him to get back to his computer to reply to my email. That’s old school personal customer service and appreciated.
Thank you for not recreating the Navarre install videos. Kick makes a little change every time we rewatch those doing these installs, and i REALLY want him to continue to be in business as products and prices are great. Also, each order has come with handwritten thank you note! Good luck finding another company that still does that!

When I was buying my kayak, I had it down between Old Towne and Native. I ended up going with the Native. The biggest negative with the Old Towne, they do not have enough pre-installed tracks on their boats.
Glad to know Navarre Kayak Fishing exsist! Once I upgrade to a pedal power kayak, most likely a old Town Sportsman PDL 120 Kayak I think, I'll hit them up!

I just bought my first kayak this week. I got a old town sportsman 106 paddle. Looking forward to getting out on the water and learning. Hopefully it's pretty stable since I am a bigger guy
Great info. Not an Old Towne owner. But , cool tweaks that can make yakin more comfortable and /or efficient
Also the drive knob upgrade is nice and the end caps to the pedal drive fit much better than the original caps from old town.
Bought and set up old town 106 marsh color . Live scope and Garmin 9 in big learning curve . Navarre sold me some goodies already .

Nice I actually just received all my navarre parts in the mail the seat risers were a bit pricey so im going to try and cut out a 2x4 and see how that holds up.

I just got an Oldtown and that dudes stuff pops up everywhere and it’s genius. Oldtown should make a Sportsman 2.0 and have all the Navarre products as standard

Nick over at Navarre is a huge reason why I went with Old Town. He's not the only company out there making 3d printed tweaks to an already great kayak, but just having the ability to easily slap on some seat risers, floating prop nut and a keel guard is awesome and the prices are great too. He even talked me into going with the 120PDL instead of the 106PDL on one of his live streams.
What was the argument for the 120 over the 106?
@@calypsoraz4318 with over 200lbs person and gear, the 106 ends up pushing into the water more than the 120. They weigh basically the same

I had a thought about the metal rudder. Isn't it kinda benefical to have the plastic version? That's what I'd say:
the plastic version is gonna be destroyed over time. No question about that! But, the damage the rudder gets will stay in the rudder. Metal has no flex in it. Every impact will be transfered directly into your kayak, especially into the rudder mount. Wouldn't it be better, to sacrifice the plastic version over time instead of risking the mountig point? Alternativ: It might be a better option to reinforce a plastic rudder with just a metal stripe at the bottom? Kinda like the bow protector you showed in the same video?
I have no kayak. Tbh, I have no clue at all. It's just a thought about physics and me being sceptical all the time. So, I'd like to know your thoughts about keeping the plastic version?

With all those upgrades, the best upgrade you can do is installing Steady Stick stand a fish confidently.

Umm I believe old town has one but I can't find it and I wanna say there another company that 3d prints horizontal rod holders I seen in someone's CZcams channel. But I can't remember. Hopefully that helps. I'm new to all this kayak stuff but I can't wait to get on the water

I'm doing research on kayaks so I can purchase one with a peddle drive. I am looking at the Hoodoo Voyager 100P and the Old Town 106.
But once I sat in both of the kayaks, I love the way the Old Town feels for myself. (But I'm also a big boy 265)
These parts look like they are 3d Printed, what kind of filament are they made out of and do we have to spray some extra UV spray?

Hey there, I’m 5”7 150lbs. Mainly fish lake mead in Nevada. Will be car topping for a lil while till I get a truck. Thinking of going 106pdl but am mixed about getting the 120 because people are saying I need it because lake mead is big. Don’t take a bunch of gear out either but like the idea of putting a nk 180 on it later. What do you think? Love the videos btw
106 is the same boat just a little shorter. Plenty of room
i bought some of the parts from navarre and i havent buy an old town yet. lol
When you talk about wheels, I hope you don’t use a scupper cart. Old Town scupper holes are. Or designed to take that sort of loading and will void your hull warranty. Boondocks landing gear are not recommended for use on Old Town kayaks either.

Hey Paul I know you used to run a predator I just bought one do you have a recommendation for a simple rail attachment tool box or a Compartment for things like pliers scents ect… ( open compartment outside the kayak)

LMAO seriously i need one of yall to do a RUDDER FAIL video. First do not use electric tape to for the wire pulling, it gums up the tubes. Second i would only recommend changing the rudder if you are prepared to render your boat useless in a fail. I got 3700$ pdl with no rudder for sale for 1k if anyone is interesed...

DO NOT UPGRADE THE RUDDER!!!!! IF YOU FAIL IT THERE IS NO HELP, Nick from Navarre reached out to me and sent schematics for re lining the rudder system. It may help but, I'm pretty dumb so I still don't get it. I'm about to drive 13 hours and give it to him at this point, the maybe .05 percent more stabilization was def not destroying the factory rudder system. Not his fault but BEWARE if you aren't mechanically inclined you may ruin your boat.

@@NavarreKayakFishing I agree I didnt have all the correct stuff, and as I said electrical tape was a bad idea. Your obviously better at this than me though. Hopefully I don't run into any issue if I choose to get your fish finder kit. At least in the meantime I found a local shop that isn't too horrible for labor rates. So, it will get repaired soon. I'm sorry your didnt like my experiences, but up until now your customer service has been awesome!
#1 could easily be made from be made from a piece of wood for next to nothing. $40 to $80 too much for a chunk of plastic.

Any kayak design is gonna get exposed over time. Especially as technology advances and solid models don't have what new boats do.
