- The fishing kayak and inflatable industry is constantly improving and innovating. This year at ICAST 2024 was no exception. There were a ton of new kayak offering amazing new possibilities for rigging electronics and motors. There were also a lot of new inflatables designed to be lighter and narrower than your typical raft. Think of them as a hybrid inflatable kayak. We had a blast putting most of these products to the test on the water. We had an even bigger blast when we got to see them up close and fully rigged. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

i just recently bought a Pelican catch mode 110, I've not had a chance to take it out yet but i got it on sale for $700. that price point allowed me to get into the hobby.
Awesome!
I’ve used that yak in some of the heaviest current and nasty downfall laid rivers in south ga. It does exceptionally well. Extremely stable, small enough for skinny water, plenty of space and durability. The only con I’ve found is it does horrible in open water. You will wear yourself out paddling a couple miles.
That Newport is pretty sweet with the elevated Seat and looks comfortable to Cast in.
It’s awesome!
Nothing moves the needle for me until we get high speed planning boats. These things are now so big and heavy that they require a trailer. If I have to trailer a boat, I'm buying a BOAT... The Veer 13 makes more sense to me as soon as they add a trolling motor.
Gotta say, i love the bonafide. It has everything you could need, only thing i think i could want would be the pedal option just in case.
In my opinion, if one person can’t lift their kayak over their heads by themselves, it’s a boat, not a kayak. (Physical infirmities excepted).
It's really interesting to see what's available on the US market. We will never see most of this stuff in Australia. I still think anything designed to be propelled by a motor isn't really a kayak and they don't fit my needs but they are very cool to see.
This is a phenomenal comment. Totally appreciate it’s not for you and thanks for keeping an open mind!
I just need something to chauffeur my dog around on smooth water in MI.
Would love to see Wilderness take a look at what they could do with the Radar to remake it. I personally would like them to re-invent it keeping with the paddle/Pedal/Power concept. A similar overall hull design. Get the rudder underneath like some other companies do and a stern motor without removing the rudder would be possible. This would be perfect for those that do tournaments that both do and do not allow motors or just like having both options on the water since both have advantages. Maybe even look at making a bow motor possible or alternatively look at similar motor to the previous torqueedo that has spot lock. Add some panels for wiring.
The new addition is more of a boat (which is fine). The Radar is a kayak that paddles well.
Agreed
Seems like most of these are small bass boats/ barges. If it has to be trailered it’s not a kayak. I have an old town min kota. It’s light enough to put in the back of my pickup. I had an old town predator before that and it was too heavy. Had to trailer it. Love my min kota. If it can’t handle the water I get my 19ft StarCraft superfisherman out.
That nucano and all the inflatables are definitely no trailer
I think a new name will come out and stick for these types of vessels. It fits a niche market and we love to see it. Not really worried about the definition of a kayak.
@@aaanglersfor sure. Calling them kayaks is like calling a Lambo just a car😂
There are definitely fishing kayaks out there that just don't make sense to be car topped. It's really weird to define kayaks as such.
Look back at what a kayak was 30 years ago, narrow, tippy sit-insides, and how the varieties have exploded since, and it will continue even as “kayak” is still spelled the same, ever more options for different needs. People laughed at the Hobie Lynx when it came out, called it just a paddle board with a seat. It’s been great for me because I cartop, and it’s just 43lbs without the seat and peddle drive. I do wonder where the outer limits of “kayak” vs boat will meet in the future, once trailering is a given - is it weight, length, beam, materials?
You can extend the durability of the isle skiff with a polyurethane hull coating as Durabak. Puncture proof.
Stealthcraft are probably the most alsome little boats for rivers * custom made in northern mich , truff as hell & little
Looking forward to on the water reviews of the XTR. Kinda miss the rudder option tho when running the XI3.
Nice walk thru vids!
The inflatables are definitely interesting. That U10 is sweet too. However, it seems like e-motors are all the rage and I was more interested in peddle power kayaks. You mentioned one that had an option to add fin drive (I'd prefer prop), but did you see any kayaks that allows you to add whatever type of drive you want? Did any of the inflatables have a peddle option? Good stuff guys! 👍
Vibe does!
Nothing else was new though
Too many options! I want them all!😂
Same!
The Bonafide steering looks great, I would however say that a Feelfree Lure has a good system thats adjustable on the go.
Nothing new from Cresent?
Crescent never goes to icast. But I'm sure they have some things in the works.
Wilderness tactical looks amazing
Agreed!
What's the model name for the Wilderness?
Tactical pro 128. It isn’t out yet
The catch mode 110 is an awesome kayak
That wilderness pre wired yak is fuggin sweet
Now that was some video wish we had a show like that in the UK .HOBIE WHO.😂😂😂
😂
What cake? She's about as flat as that inflatables skid plate!
It's nice someone is giving the wilderness some love. I know they didn't exactly do a good job staying current, but this is nice to see. Thanks for the video
We were impressed!
Wait they don't let you bring your own drinks? I brought in a bottle everyday
They used to have an issue with that, but they don't care anymore
2799 but 8k as shown. Sexy AF but id rather just pay 150 a month for a bass boat. Ive got a Kaku Voodoo and a NuCanoe F10 but havent tricked any of them out with trolling motors or graphs.
That wilderness system kayak might be my second setup in a few years. Too bad the Xi3 is discontinued.
Xi3 is still available everywhere
@@aaanglers oh yeah I know, i'm just not a fan of buying something that's slowly getting phased out, it's just asking for eventual troubles (plus I wouldn't put a bow mount on my Outback right now, that thing is super low already on the water, so who knows in march 2025 when the wilderness system yak will be available if the xi3 will still be as available)
Blonde lady around 5:00 out there with cakes. On the serious side, i might get that Pelican HD
Wow, must $10K-$12K for some of these things.
Easily, if you rig em out they way they had them on the showroom floor
Great content. Can you do a review of the NRS Pike 126 inflatable? I'm leaning to buy one up here in Canada. Choices are limited to purchase locally and many of the yaks you've covered so far, are not readily accessible to me.
can the wilderness be used for saltwater? mainly blackfishing, flounder, and stripers. If so which Xi3?
Should be fine for salt, no idea on the xi3 but definitely get the gps
@@paulglass7268 any would it be worth waiting for it to come out or do you have a different kayak you would suggest for what I do? 5k budget
@@milkmonke8266 it looks nice and is a value, I’d say go for it
@@paulglass7268 alright, probably gonna just thinking how nice the bonafied 130 is haha just don’t wanna lug that thing around
Yes, and you need the saltwater gps version of the xi3. It's white
When are those Isle inflatable chairs coming out ?
I think they are out now on their site!
NuCanoe does the coolest shit and makes it look so clean and easy. Everything they do is brilliant but so simple and easy.
I agree!
Facts!

Oh cool!
Yall need to fish in the tandem bonafide asap lol
We will try!
So tell me brother which one to you think is best. The new bonafide or the wilderness new one
Want to be budget friendly? Wilderness. Want to overload your kayak and have a trailer only personal bass boat? Bonafide
nu canoe, bonafide or wilderness.. which would you rather have. i currently have a jackson but am going to trade up
It's a toss up. Nu Canoe for customization and best steering option, Wilderness for the budget tournament boat, Bonafide for the most built out kakay (bass boat) I have ever seen.
@@aaanglersNu Canoe is most reasonably priced .
When will bonafide drop the wizard foot braces ??? Must have for the pwr 129 😉
Not sure, possibly this fall?
They're targeting October of this year
@@paulglass7268 thanks buddy, if I had watched the whole video I would have known that !!!! lol 😂
@@charliescustom all good 🤝🏼
A kayak video where the word tertiary is used, I’m home
😂
Kills me to see the amount of effort in new features yet they still can’t pre-plumb a kayak for steering lines. Wilderness systems did this over a decade ago 🤦♂️
Wilderness is also the only one pre wiring kayaks. Kinda rad
Some have the tubes lined up ahead of time which is nice
There’s more than rocks to watch out for! Don’t let a catfish or dogfish get near an inflatable or bring a repair kit!
They would need to be absolutely world record size to do any damage
They can take it, we will prove it in testing
Lol really but you haven’t tested yet! Ok but I’ve run zodiacs for 40 years and it’s happened to me once with both specs the dogfish 24” cat about the same 🤷🏻♂️
Okay, well fair enough. Not sure what material the zodiac is. But at the very least we are going to test it. We just got it in the mail
Ok I’ll be watching for the test! Im shopping for one to carry into remote areas! Inflatables have two enemies sharp objects and the sun! When not in use keep them out of the sun! It weakens the glue on the seams! Good luck Brother!
If u were to buy one. Which on please
That is a tough one... I'm not totally sure. We are leaning on the U10.
@@aaanglers thank you
Heat welded or glued?
Is what welded or glued?

What Paul Said... I think The Newport is the same.
Or you could just buy a 12/36 jonboat for a fraction of the cost and weight.
And yet, not everyone WANTS a jon boat. I’ve had one, and I prefer kayaks. It’s a niche market. It’s cool if you don’t care about it though.
Cool kayaks and features, but they are overlapping boats while being more expensive, heavier, and less functional. Once you motorize your yak, their is no point in designing it to be paddled anymore. No reason for it being narrow, plastic, or light once you add 200 lbs of gear to it. Jumped the shark. It's like "compact pickups" that kept growing until they are full size now.
I Disagree, because some people love midsize pickups lol. There is a definite niche of people that want the XTR for example and do not want a boat. Boats are still much bigger and require more maintenance, money and storage long term. Totally cool if you don’t like these boats, but there is a market for them.
These fishing kayaks are getting insanely big and expensive considering a Hobie is 5k new before you buy a motor. Might as well buy a used bass boat for what some companies want their kayaks
I wish these manufacturers would take after Old Town’s Autopilot and bring affordable kayaks to market with a reliable motor already bundled with it that has the same options as them
Nucanoe is $1,600, those inflatables were even cheaper 🤷🏼♂️
They are making them affordable. That wilderness systems is cheaper than an old town auto pilot even after battery and motor. Also, there is a huge market for people who want to fish this way, and do not want a bass boat
Unless you are buying used there is no way you are getting into a boat for 5k, and if you are how old is it and how many issues are you going to have to fix? Old motors can be notoriously troublesome with maintenance while these kayaks are fairly maintenance free and are already set up with the ability to take them places boats can't go
You can get a really nice early 2000's name brand bass boat for 5-6K if you have patience and strike a deal with someone who wants it gone. These prices are "Build back better insane."
very strange fish eye effect on the video.
We had to use our go pro 9. Next year we will bring a vlog camera
Please use a different lens. The fish eye lens distorts everything and hurts my head after ten minutes. There is no way I can watch for 45 minutes. Like the content though.
We us a go pro, so that is tough, bringing a pro rig is an option, but too expensive for our hobbies lol
I understand. Thanks for the response.@@aaanglers
"...this is a bass boat now."
Yeah, minus the really important reasons a kayak will never be "a bass boat."
This was like " How much unnecessary crap can we fit onto a plastic boat?"
Too much crap - too many cables everywhere to get hung up on - too much WEIGHT.
I hate where fishing kayaks are going.
None of them are affordable 😂I just can’t see myself spending 1000 bucks and up for one ☝️ damn awesome to have but ain’t worth my money ya
So don’t 🤷♂️
There are plenty of kayaks under $1000.
I don't mind spending the money on something that doesn't seriously degrade due to sun exposure but that's plastic kayaks biggest downfall . They become brittle and are much much more likely to crack over time . Kayak makers need to find another material that's lighter and doesn't degrade as nearly as fast as plastic due to long term sun exposure .
Inflatables are still way to heavy
What do you want them to weigh? One was 43 lbs and the other 66 lbs. That's pretty light for how dang heavy duty the material is.
Until Kayak makers start manufacturing Kayaks out of a much lighter material they can have them . Rotomolded Kayaks are GROSSLY OVERPRICED .
