Felt good breaking the Tacoma out of retirement! Fj transfercase and air lockers front and rear going on ASAP! Great video Nate 🍻
I wonder why all those issues crept up? Did you make a video on it?
Good plan! Why push button 4wd (transfer case wise) exists in anything besides a crossover suv/Subaru boggles my mind 🤦♂️
Maxx what abs codes?
Can’t wait for that.
Good to see u out again in the toyo having some fun, look forward to some some new upgrades
The quality, style and tastefulness of the editing is Tier 1. There is no finer photography and presentation for this genre of video.
I’m only halfway through the video. And can we all just take a second to appreciate how good Nates photography is and editing! So many different camera angles perfectly edited together. Makes you feel like you are right there with him and there is an entire team filming this. But there isn’t just Nate. Anyway back to the video 👍
As a Toyota guy, I hope this build helps bring you new viewers without sacrificing your current viewers. And that front bumper is 🔥👍
I’m a Jeep guy, but I’m loving it! It’s cool to learn and see other vehicle types. 🤙🏼
I don't really care what platform it is, as long as it's being built and used.
@@Rommer2258 I couldn’t agree more!
As a multiple Jeep/Chevy k10 guy, I will always watch, Nate has great taste, style, and craftsmanship. I am here for the fabrication and I am a real vehicle guy, I like vehicles of all kinds. Only the brand whores will be upset to see something different
@@Rommer2258 👍
I’m a 80s and 90s Toyota guy I’m in a 2020 now used that crawl control the other day after being stuck in a snow filled ditch worked really good. I was happy
Been watching Max's stuff forever. I can already tell this is gonna be a great video.
Love that y'all are buddies! Been watching max for forever, you guys are two of my favorite youtubers. Great accessible content! Can't watch one of y'all's videos without frantically running into the garage afterwards so I can do something on my own.
Thats awesome man. Glad you enjoy the channel!
I love when CZcamsrs get together to do a collaboration, keep it up guys!!!
Me too!
Bossman: "GET OFF YOUR PHONE AND DO YOUR JOB!"
Me: "Yep, I gotcha, give me about 13 minutes, and I'll be right on it."
Lol love it dude
@@DirtLifestyle Love the videos! I'm in the process of putting tons, 4.0l, and 4x4 under a 2.5l 2wd MJ, also upgrading my 91 Toyota, your videos always give me the "Alright let's get stuff done" attitude!
(I work weird shifts and 6days a week, so I tend to lose motivation easily)
How am I just finding this channel!? Beautiful filming and editing, narration is amazing. Definitely inspiring. Well done man
It has improved a lot.
bought a 2011 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner TRD 4WD the other day, been loving and learning it ever since
This is why I love my 6sp taco, none of the bs to deal with. Just drive.
Nice colab, looks awesome out where you were filming. Looking forward to seeing the taco come along.
Sunglasses tray
Nate, I am still newer to you channel (
Old school Cj7 trick, apply gas and brakes at the same time...if you catch the spin of the tires with the grab of the brakes, the differential will shimmy back and forth, and will sometimes get you out ... "crawl mode" reminds me of the shimmy shaking this technique results in
Those drone shots and slow motion mid video with the song choice was absolutely stellar man great video! Loving how the taco is looking so far!
Nate, your editing, videography, and vision for your content is stunning.
Nate your killing it with the content man! Best mix of build stuff, then go do stuff on CZcams.
Best wheeling videos on the Net, hands down.
Epic photography as usual.
30s, street tires. WOW.
I'm diehard Jeep but hats off to Toyota. I'm impressed.
Don’t care what you drive, I love your content. Taco, Jeep, Disco it’s all good
You guys are nuts, I'm freezing mine off just watching you two.
That looked like a lot of fun! Nice to see Maxx out there with you! More fun to be had!
Amazing editing, amazing music, and Maxx Powell. What more can a man ask for? Seriously great video!!!
Definitely Amazing Job!
Max is a super cool dude!! We love our crawl control. It’s gotten us out of a few jams.
Nate, I truly love your production quality. It's so nuanced and tasteful. Great work!
Love too see a video of Max over at your shop , wrenching on Max ' s rig bring it to the next level !
Dude... your videos get better and better every time I log on! Great job!
Great video guys!! Toyota for life!!
Crawl control is basically what we do manually when you ride the brakes with open diff or lockers to control wheel spin. I think it's a matter of getting better at it and understanding how to use it.
I have an 07 titan, 4.11, 35, Detroit, open frt. And was able to mimic a Toyota's crawl ctrl. Higher the ratio the more you can mimic. Learned manual way from someone years ago. Keep practicing
Great Vid, Need to get my ole 88 Toyota Pickup Running to enjoy some of this fun!
How lucky we are to drive less than a hour away from home and be in such beauty. How funny that Mr Baker holds 2 world records for snowfall .
Being from Canada I find snow is alot like sand, once you break traction just don't spin... Snow melts under tire spin and freezes almost as soon as it melts this causing very slick surface under your tire and your alot more stuck, the best option for snow is less tire spin. The more your tires pack snow into their grooves like a snow man snow packs to snow!
Crawl control wasn’t really designed for snow because the tires need to be able to bring material under the tires and snow just don’t move around like dirt and sand or gravel
I’ve used crawl control to get me out of a snowbank twice as deep as these guys were in. It took 5-10 minutes to get the traction, but it saved me that day. I think they needed a little more patience.
It works really really well going Down slick / snowy hills! Other then that I agree about using it in the snow... in the right circumstances it works well in snow but other times it doesn’t help much. Besides putting it in call and getting out of the truck to shove shit under the tires while it’s working... that’s got me out once or twice hahap
You're right. Snow is so different. It packs up under the axles, and lifts your tires off the ground. This happened to me last November. I spent 2 hours digging the packed-solid snow out from under everything just to get the tires back on the ground.
When snow gets compressed into the tread, that compression causes heat which starts to melt the snow into the tread making the centrifugal force of the spinning tire harder to clear what was once snow, and now ice out of the tread.
He was impatient, crawl takes a little time to function properly, at least mine does anyway.
I got the reminder that you posted a new video so I pulled over and watched it on my way to my parents up north!
I love the snow wheeling videos especially ones in my backyard! I looked up the coordinates and I was up there last year checking it out with no snow.
I'm in also for local GTG stuff!
Good video. Looks like a fun adventure. Front bumper/winch combo looks great.
Oh your video makes me want to go out and play in the snow. Looks like you had a great time keep up the great video.😎👍
I've been watching max for year's as well and this was an awesome video!
What is channel?
@@carakyfullsender7280 “maxx powell”
Two of my favorite channels👌🏻
Awesome to hear man 🤙
dude your cinematography gets better by the minute! Loved the crossover with Max!
its awesome to see you two out together!
Great video ! We did the same thing with a stock 4Runner. So impressive what they will do straight off the showroom floor.
That new winch bumper you chose is pretty slick looking. I look forward to watching this build. Great videos, Nate.
Awesome to see two of my favorite offroad channels in the same video!
Award winning video Nate. Nice editing. Miss my old tacos even without crawl control. That thing will be a total weapon when you are done with it. Keep it as light as possible if you can..
That white one is badass. Both are nice actually!
Awesome video man, great seeing the comparison between stock and built trucks, love the content
I've got the 20 DCLB TRD OR and it is amazing where you can put the truck right off the lot.
Now that looks like so much fun and its stock form continues to impress!! I really dig the adventure content!! Cant wait to see what's next!!
So much fun! The bumper looks fantastic!
Earned yourself a sub! Couldn't help but smile watching the transcendental slow mo!
Hi Nate! I'm a new subscriber to your channel and am supper excited to see what your going to do with your tacoma. I just bought a tscoma my self back in June, for everyday pickup truck things but also for 4x4 adventuring. I love driving that very road you guys where on in this video, and am attempting to make my truck more then capable to handle it.
Can't wait for more from you keep it!
Awesome little trip! Beautiful scenery!!
3:53 Quick tip with open diffs for anyone who doesn't know. If one tires spinning others sitting still, use your left foot to drag the brakes a tiny bit. The added friction on the spinning tire can jog a bit of movement out of the stationary tire. He probably would have been able to get a little more distance there by dragging the brakes some 😉.
Loving the wheeling vids, wish I could get out there right now!
If you guys have never hiked to High Rock lookout, you should do it when its warm and clear. You have some amazing views from the abandoned fire lookout.
Your video editing skills are incredible. Great content as always!!
Two of my favorite youtubers!!!
Great production. Glad I didn’t have any adds to see so I could enjoy it
I’d like to see this again with a TRD skid plate, Toyo Open Country AT IIIs, and follow Toyota’s instructions for crawl control.
My preferred end result would be a 2-3” front lift, Fox Performance Series shocks with DSC adjusters and 33 x 12.5 Toyo or BFG
Max has a great channel, this is an unexpected but awesome collaboration. Awesome footage and editing btw!
Sick footage bro, drone, and normal! Nice editing, great video all around! Hell of a job!
Came here from Maxx Powell and stayed/subbed because of the excellent content/production value! Keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks for the video, it's interesting to see what your stock truck will go through. The nice thing about snow is one can shovel one's way out - as long as one doesn't slide too far off the road....
We got within a whisker of that last week trying to find some coyotes that had been beating on buddy's dog - the road above his ranch had much more ice under the snow than we initially thought. As always, since we're back down typing, we must have made it okay, you know? Stay well.
Lol nice! Glad to see you made it out ok 👌
I'm super impressed how well that did with those tires!
Can’t wait to see this build grow! Great video as always
Much appreciated sir 🙏
I've read other similar reviews of Crawl Control in 2020+ Tacomas when going up hill or attempting to ascend minor obstacles. Crawl Control in my 2017 is a BEAST!!
Oh I am waay watching this new build cause i have same truck same color ('cept mine is a manual) . Go Nate go!!
Thank you for uploading on a Sunday
Like others have said Nate. Great mix of fabrication videos and out on the trail. We got land rovers/taco/Jeeps and amazing scenery. What more could we ask for?
I know quitting your job as a gas fitter was a huge decision for you and you’re family . I think it’s fair to said you made the right choice.
Congratulations with the growth of the channel. It really has become one of the best on CZcams.
Cheers 🍻
Didn’t read the comments yet but when I read my 2020 Tacoma manual I think I remember it saying to not have the rear diff locked for crawl control to work. I could be wrong.
This is some quality content, keep it up!
Another great video, will have to check out his channel as well. I’m currently in eastern Pennsylvania where they are expecting 12-18” of snow overnight, not nearly as much fun in a Freightliner with a 53’ van trailer. Keep the content coming Nate!
Took my stock trd sport out today here in Canada ! Did pretty well considering I had stock all seasons and only traction control.. lol, planning to put some air lockers on to go deeper and better tires, thanks for video inspires me to get back out there again
Toyota owners: CRAWL CONTROL!
Every Jeep Guy Watching: Eye Roll.
Found you through Maxx’s channel.
I really like your videography style. I need to get on your level 😂
But welcome to the Tacoma fam! I look forward to your content 🤙🏼
Now this is a quality colab
Solid video. Looked like a good snow run.
This is a great Tacoma commercial
Level 5 Crawl Control......SEND IT!
Nada lol. Great vid and inspiration to take the 99XJ out for some fun in the snow.
Love this video. Thanks for making it.
Thank you! I had a great time making it
Loved seeing the stock truck out again. Nice driving and filming as always. The crawl control is disappointing in the snow. I would have expected it to do a lot better as throttle control is so important in the snow, seems like a time when it could shine
They limit the speed to save those spider gears and cv axles 🤣
Crawl control, great when it's working, worthless when it's not haha. Awesome awesome video!!
AWESOME Collab
Ayyy, discovered you recently from the first Tacoma video, looking into getting one myself, sick to see you and Max chilling together
I gave this thumbs up within the first 5 seconds, great stuff!!
Very nice! I take my 4 Runner with crawl control up to Greenwater a lot and honestly the crawl control is just OK in snow.
Its amazing! Love your videos!
I have a 2017 and my crawl control never did that it's always worked great
Awesome place 👍
Nice vid man! Love you bumper btw, looks awesome 🤘
Crawl control is basically what we do manually when you ride the brakes a little with open diffs.. Its for people like me who can not throw money at there rigs to solve problems
I’ve lived in Phoenix Arizona since 1994,,, I miss the snow!
That's a really good looking bumper.
I’m loving my 03 taco more every time I watch your videos, it’s so not complicated, I wish it had even less computer crap! I think next one would be even older!
Great job on your Video!
Great visuals
If you are using crawl control, keep your foot off the gas pedal! You were revving the engine, spinning the wheels and overriding the CC. Don't think it would have made any difference though, CC won't help much when you are high-centered in snow. Even so, thanks for a nice video!
165k subscribers already!? Awesome man!!
Traction control has always gotten me closer to getting stuck than with it shut completely off and running open diffs in the snow, I don’t have the luxury of crawl control or rear locker on my trd sport though! Awesome video!
Good video Nate. Love yo wheel in your neck of the woods 👍👍
Nice video can wait to see it performing with lockers and bigger tires
Some great footage, nice camera work, good job
