Colby won’t fight anyone ranked below him and can’t beat anyone ahead of him. Guess he’s done.
The rules are *absolutely NOT* set up more in favor of strikers. Guys can literally just put a hand down on the mat and be immune from the serious consequences that they would otherwise be vulnerable to from failed takedown attempts. There are so, so many fighters who would be nowhere near where they are now if not for abusing what is essentially just a loophole. Timing a knee in the middle of their shot while they're moving forward explosively can be much more devastating than kneeing them while they're stationary in turtle. Done right, so is pulling them down into a knee from a thai clinch while they're both standing.
Do I think they sometimes stand guys up sooner than they should? Definitely. Do they more frequently let it go for longer than they should? Damn sure. Sometimes the guy on bottom will try and stall, too, so it's not all about position, but if you're on top and they are successfully shutting down your attempts at offense, give them an opening to scramble and use that to try and get in a better position where you can do some work. And this is coming from someone who is more of a grappler, so I'm not just more sympathetic to strikers. I love a fight with tons of scrambling and active ground fighting. But I will never, ever rewatch something like Almeida vs. Lewis. If I wanted to torture someone, I might tape their eyes open and make them watch it on repeat, though

If the fight is a fight, why have it timed at all? Whats the difference between short vs long round? It could happen at 4 mins 30 seconds or it could happen 9 mins 30 sec
15 minute time limit-25 minute time limit for championships and main events. If my memory serves me, the UFC has already tried it, and it wasn't all that-not as much fun to watch. Now, the fighters have more energy to keep it interesting.
So what Joe is saying is that if you get took down at the end of a round then the next round should start in the position that the last ended in. But how would it work for someone who nearly knocks them out and in the last few seconds of a round which ends up saving the guy who was nearly knocked out as they would normally be finished with ground and pound. How would we go about restarting the next round if the rules were changed to make it that you start in the position that the last round ended in. Joe is right about 12-6 elbows but not the rest of what he said

I'd like to see Sterling show some skills in another fight before he fights OMalley again as I think the skill gap is too big. I know Aljo believes he can win but he has to show something as the fight was not even close as I recall. Like, I mean Aljo needs to relearn fighting if he wants to beat OMalley - I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, I am critical but I am accurate, it can be done but he has to change the way he fights so he takes more risks. At present, Aljo fights too safe and so he is not exciting to watch despite the physique and skills being there, he lacks the strategy that OMalley has. If OMalley is a 10 out of 10 for skill, Aljo is about a 7 or 8. I don't mean in a single thing, I mean the overall skill set. Aljo is good but the burst and pressure lacks. Peter Yan has more of this factor than Aljo. It's not to say that Aljo can't win but he is so slow that he passes up opportunities because the speed at which he flows is too slow.

No knees on the ground and no upkicks help grapplers and wrestlers too.
No matter any of the outcomes, people are gonna complain about the wins at 304 due to the time. People will say Leon or Belal or Tom or Curtis lost because they were fighting at 4am instead of more normal 11-12 time.
Thankfully people crying like bitches doesn't change the outcomes lol
Fortunately for Leon, he may get some benefit of the doubt if it ends up going Belal's way. Unfortunately for Curtis, Tom would definitely get the benefit of the doubt if Curtis wins. It's not at elevation, and it will be pretty in synch with Curtis and Belal's internal clocks, so they may not even really need to go get acclimated, per se. I hadn't thought of it until now, but I wonder if it might almost be better for them not to. Even if 5am is essentially 11pm for them, it might still *feel* weird being up to see that on the clock every night for a
two weeks beforehand. But, if that would be true, I suppose it might be better to get used to it for a couple weeks
(I say fortunately for Leon because he's much more likable, lol. I'm neutral between Tom and Curtis, so I just want the winner to get the credit they deserve, but the time *on top of* everyone being so incredibly certain that Tom is the best and the true champ who Jon must fight next, will make it very hard to cope with the notion that maybe he actually wasn't the best, if Curtis wins. It's not like any of Curtis's losses are bad ones to have, and he has a number of great wins. Shouldn't really be any reason to dismiss him, and he's a tough matchup for Jon, too. Can wrestle, has proven himself against a guy longer than Jon, and has only lost to three of the absolute heaviest hitters, and that's definitely not a category Jon fits into.)
@@LarryMayvid blaydes is good, I said before I thought he’d be a good matchup for jones, but after getting slept by Sergei, I think Toms got a solid chance to do the same. Toms proven he can take a punch when he took a clean shot from Sergei, and Tom finishes his fights pretty quickly, so I see him winning. But I do agree that it kind of gives Belal (depending where he’s been training) and Blaydes an advantage if they use it right but the thing is all the media days and weigh ins and such will happen at normal times in the UK so they’d be dealing with jet lag while cutting just to get that slight edge during the fight but is that worth it or is going in on even ground and going to the uk and getting acclimated first so you’re on a regular time. Interesting to think about.

I was a huge fan of pride FC, I would love to see the UFC implement some of the pride rules, fans today are too young to remember Pride FC, some of the best fighters in the world at the time fought for pride, and their gloves were great there was no eye pokes. I don't know why The UFC doesn't use similar gloves, pride was extremely action-packed fights, that's just my opinion.

Also people usually seem fine after accidents due to adrenaline and shock, but after a few days start noticing their neck or back hurts. Happens all the time. Happened to me, thought I was fine after a crash and I had a slipped disk I had to get fused to another due to how bad the pain became.
