- I am installing the main service water line into my Neighbor's house. I have to install about 175ft of 1" PVC pipe through tree roots and cross the driveway. I am here in Georgia and the frost line is only like two feet. So we don't have to bury water line so deep. But That is the deepest I could get it anyway. Thank for watching.

Excellent video!!!! Thank You!!!
Very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make this video
morenobeyo You are welcome.
Great video.
Helping me learn a lot. Thank you!
Good stuff!
Bro, thanks for the knowledge. Got that raw land and the RV tank is now MT. Land came with that main, so time to trench it up and hook it up. House coming in next Door in a few months. Yeap, 2 plots
How is anyone to know the direction of this new water line after many years pass. ? I would have attached a tracer ground wire the whole length so 811 dig can locate this line in the future.
Super helpful video
Thank you
Awesome video man.
Great job
Thanks
Thanks for sharing. I've got a leak between the meter and the house and about 100 feet of line in between. I hope I can find it and avoid getting a trencher. I'm waiting for the utilities to mark lines now. It's cold and wet up here in north Alabama right now, so this should be fun!
John If you know you have a leak. You should be able to see or walk the line a feel where it is super wet. I know it has been raining but I think you should still be able to see or feel that leak. Good luck and thanks for the comment.
How do you determine where the line runs from the meter to the house…house was built in 1968, we have no idea where it runs which house doesn’t have shut off at the house. We have a leak and also paved driveway, no clue where to begin
@@csworldjourney9718 To determine the line of you water, call your city/county and at no cost to your, they will come out and mark all of your utility lines (water, sewer, electric...) with flags and/or temporary paint. After that, the plumbing contractor I hired had sonic equipment that helped them locate the leak by detecting gurgling sounds. Plus, the ground above the leak may show signs like being damp on a dry day. Best of luck to you! - John
I wish you lived in greenville sc 👊🏽 man great job
Lol
Cupler lol. It's COUPLING! Anyways great video. Just teasing tho this must be down South.
thanks think i'm gonna do my own
That’s the only you will learn is by doing it yourself! Good luck
love the your youtube video but why did you not use black roll pipe
black roll pipe is rated for direct bury cold water only black roll pipe has high pressure ratings
The water seems to be a bit shallow, plus how does 1-800 dig find it without the tracer wire. This must be way down south where they experience any freezing.😂
Yes , I’m in Georgia and there is really no frost line here. Plus digging in those tree roots you can only get down so far. I wanted it deeper but just could not get deeper.
What about scoring the ends with sand paper before gluing?
I was told it gets a better bond.
Which is best?
Many people have different ways of doing the same thing. But the right way by the book would be. First lightly sand the pvc than clean with paper towel. Than use primer on both the pipe and the fitting. Than use your Choice of Glue and hold for ten seconds. Slightly turning the PVC pipe into the fitting until it would not turn any more. Than wait 20 to 30min before using. That the book way. So I guess that’s the right way.
@@michaelyoucanfixthat good to know cause we bought a new house that has to have all new pipes ran.
We are about to do a total house & doing all of the research and watching videos to get ready.
Its all gonna be DIY because our area doesnt require permits. Its all gonna be trial and error for us.
Thanks for the information.
Back in the 70’s, I don’t remember primer being available so I would sand the pipe before gluing. It seemed to work just fine with no leaks.
Hmmm. There seems to be a couple flaws in the plumbing practices. Hope trench gets back filled correctly and location tape gets installed in trench as well.
You should have ended with the 90 going into the old pipe.
I know that I'm not doing this, however, I would have used Pex, or plastic well pipe. Fewer connections, easier to use, and 1 long pipe.
Mike Rhett Yes, I would have too but this was for my Neighbor and money was a problem. If it was mine I would have used copper.
Which State is this in ?
I’m in Georgia
What’s the price range
If you are asking about the materials cost? It all depends on how far your water meter is from your house. If I just guess and you did it yourself. $300 for the rental of the trencher. Than pipe and glue. About $75 every 100ft. But if a contractor is doing the work you are going to be looking at about $700 to $800 a 100ft.
