Before everyone jumps to conclusions; I did put the HPI ignition back on and you won't believe the results... Anyways... Fuel in the video is Sunoco 110 with Klotz Super Techniplate 38:1. Jetting in this video is 52 pilot, 182 main and middle position on the needle. Oh yea... YOU ROCK!! đ€đ€đ€

If it wasnât a kick start Itâs so easy to pull the spark plug so thereâs no compression and time it with a gun by rolling it over. If thereâs a way you could possibly use an impact on the fly wheel to turn the motor over while you make your timing marks on the fly wheel. I build 2 stroke mercury motors and timing is the most important part. Using a timing gun I start at 0° and advance 1°-2° at a time til Iâm happy with that tune. Iâve never used a timing gun on a 1 cylinder 2 stroke motor but what I do know is you can get very meticulous with your timing preference when using a timing gun
glad the hpi worked out. i was going to ask you if you should closed the gap on the plug since its a high compression engine and if you thought it was blowing the spark out.
Good to hear you put the hpi back on. Always good to hear you tried something for the 250r community and not just follow what everyone else is using. If it was easy everyone would do it. Cant wait to see the difference.

Iâm a motocross guy. (Bikes) but I give my dad crap because he canât start a bike easily or even put it on a stand correctly but itâs all technique not strength. I know 13 year old 110lb kids that can start a big bike after a crash no problem.

As a 250r owner use a mx boot to start ever time. One slip and it's stiches or staples to the shin. A wet day and nikes didn't mix

It takes a man to admit his mistakes to a hundred or so strangers but he's those were very vague
As someone who has a cr500. Starting is a technique, youâll get the hang of it and realize it only takes a few inches to actually fire up. Couple easy kicks build that compression and put everything into that last kick. Itâll save the foot as well lol. Love the build

Now for all of us old school dudes , you know aka " old farts " the 250r refers to the three wheeler , and yours is the 250trx also known as the four tax đ just keeping you youngsters straight đ because all of that rode 85 and 86 250r's back in the day didn't want anything to do withe four tax when they came out !!! Because it was the stupid government that banned the three wheelers fro production after 1986 , so it was like the government was trying to force us to ride a quad đ€š and so you know the 250r three wheeler would stink on the 250trx in a drag race , and that's why most the quad guys bought banshees . Man I miss the smell of the two strokes runnning castor bean oil premix in their bikes !!! Long live the two strokes!!!!
2vintage has 4 strokes that smoke more than that 2. Quad looks and sounds amazing cant wait to actually see it rip...

The roast of 2vintage was epic. its really simple. this guy michael sabo, takes his time, buys quality parts and installs them correctly. 2vintage buys clapped out bikes, "fixes" them says they are mint and marks up the price to poor unsuspecting buyers

My buddies and myself have been using Klotz lubricants since early 90s , the oil is top notch, I run the Klotz Uplon in my modern four strokes with VP T4 fuel

Nice build, miss mine for sure. I run a aftermarket ing. on my RD 400, the spark may look smaller but itâs hotter so donât judge by eye. Also made a degree wheel and use a magnet to hold it to the flywheel , always best to know where you are .
Yeah man i kept waiting for you to put the OEM ignition back on it. I have had some really fast Hondas over the years all with stock electronics. And man, if they don't start after a few good kicks, something is wrong. Save the arch of your foot! Learned that lesson the hard way myself.

I see that you're adjusting the idle by unthreading and tightening the throttle cable, keep that thing loose (as in threaded all the way in) and make all of your adjustments on your carb. It will run way better and you won't have to adjust things as often.
Good advice; at the time I was just trying to keep it running so I didn't have to kick it more đ

I started rebuilding my 2008 trx450r and I'm not looking forward to the first start of a 12.1 compression kickstart. Hopefully I won't have to call me 275lb buddy to start it for me everytime I want to ride. Love the bike and keep the rubber side down.......

It reminds me of the early 90's and a nasty 250R 3 wheeler I had. Ruined my foot on it. What I finally learned was pull start it when it was fresh and go from there..... I feel for you lol...

You need to go juuust pass the tdc so the piston is on its way down and Then kick, The crank will turn 1 extra lap and have 50-70% more chanse to start on first kick. LOVE THE COLOR COMBO Massive Build !!! LOVE IT
Man a 250 is ALL technic bring it to the compresion stroke get a nice feel of solid arm jump down on it while you blip the trottle shell start every time
Mike I have shared your pain lol, I had Arlan build me a motor a number of years ago with the power valved pro x cylinder and like you I had one H of a time getting it started the first time. It's like I couldn't kick it over fast enough to get a good spark but eventually I got it to light. Rotate the engine just past tdc compression the let up on the kick starter to get a full throw then kick it like you hate it lol. Good luck man...
Thank you man; after talking with Arlan, apparently the older HPI ignitions were really hard to kick, even when timed right. It sound's like you had one of those.
Pvl ig ignition system is also a good one,i ran a hpi igniton on my bike and it ran great, finding the right timming is key,mine didn't run good at first but played around with it dan ran great
