Florida is a great place for married, retired couples, who stay inside and go out to Applebees once in a while. It is really hard to meet people. Retired and married people aren't really interested in meeting people...and it is so hot for 7 months, most people just stay inside and watch TV.

Florida is great for vacations but not always for full time move. I’m leaving soon, the heat and humidity all year, miss the fall time foliage, crazy people here and also angry drivers/heavy traffic, crime, sunshine dollar pay, bugs. Overall the more people that come here the more congested it’ll be and won’t be as comfortable to live here down the line.

I've been trying to find somewhere new to live. I've lived in New York when I was young, couldn't picture myself going back into that place, as well as Florida. I love both places, but it's time for this chapter to close as well... moving away will be hard, but I want something different. What state you reccomend? I'm looking into VA or north Carolina

I was originally from Michigan and have lived on both the southeast coast and southwest coast here. Regarding the heat I found that unless you lived on the intercoastal or the beach of the east coast, the heat and humidity was around much more of the year. On the west coast it is only bad June through September and I do not live on the beach but a few miles up a river. The first year was hell to get used to but I learned to put the AC higher than I did up north so that when I walked out the door and hit that wall of summer heat that it wasn't such an extreme change and therefore didn't make me feel like passing out. Also for the west coast the humidity mainly soars once the normal summer PM and evening thunderstorms hit and then it stays through the night but lowers by midmorning. I've long since acclimated to it and learned how to deal with it but many choose to not bother or just can't so head back north. Don't bother to come to south Florida if you don't think you can handle 90+ temps with triple digit heat indexes and up to 100% humidity. You'll be miserable.

Another great video with examples I haven't seen others give. I like that you mentioned not all parts of Florida are the same, nor have the same opportunities. One of the reasons I'm leaning towards moving to the Tampa area or within 30 mins, are due to opportunities, the events/things to do and the airport. Even though I have friends in Jacksonville down to the Keys on the East Coast, I feel like The Gulf might be closer to what I'm used to here in California. That's where I'm at after researching from the panhandle down anyhow. Thanks for touching on that topic, it's a good reminder.

I moved to South Florida from Rochester New York in 1979. I was very much a city guy and loved brick buildings and downtown and the punk clubs and City Life in a big dirty City. I made it a year-and-a-half in South Florida and really missed my family and friends and City Life and decided to move back up there. I thought it would be a great idea. It wasn't LOL. I think once you've tasted tropical living, it's very hard to get out of your system and I used to literally dream of Florida every night once I moved back to New York. Plus I really hate winter. I moved back to Florida in the late 80s and have been here ever since and never regretted it. I have to say I do like California more than Florida, I happen to love LA and if I could afford it I would move there, even with all of its problems. There's just an excitement there and also the mountains are incredibly beautiful. But living in Florida is definitely not too shabby. By the way, I live about 2 miles from the ocean and other than being at restaurants that Overlook the ocean, I haven't been to the beach in about 5 years lol. I loved being a sun worshipper and going to the beach when I was younger but then you get to be my age and one day you look at your body and you look like an "everything pizza" LOL, and trips to the dermatologist are every 3 months.

#3 Beach lifestyle: I've lived on or w/i 3 miles of the beach for most of my 31 years on FL. I find it's often too hot to enjoy the beach in the summer. and sometimes top much of a hassle if you have to drive and park.

Great video. Could you do a video about the area north of Miami? For example, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
    - Cost, how does it compare to Miami?
    - Economically, are there job opportunities? Tech, law, finance, etc.
    - Culturally, is it stuffy or is it chill and young?
    - Education, good schools for kids?
    - Nightlife, is it vibrant with good bars and restaurants?

Been living in Boca Raton, North Broward / South Palm Beach county for almost 8 years and has been nightmare. I struggled so much for nothing so doing my research to leave after a lot of thinking. Right to work state had force me to change work every 2 to 3 years because the can fired you without a reason. Due to that I had run out of my savings 4 times trying to survive here and it’s just not worth it. I have a master degree, I’m fully bilingual and my salary only increased 19% in 8 years. Also having in mind that back home the cost of living was lower. Now trying to buy a house an the prices for fixer uppers condos with only 868 square feet are over $400,000. Is madness as I think this is not the state of opportunities because medium class is almost nonexistent.

Interesting point about living on the beach but moving where you still are close to it. If I go through moving to Florida, even though a big reason would be for the beach lifestyle, to get more bang for my buck regarding housing, I would have no problem living 10-45 minutes from the beaches. I would be working full time anyway and would not be able to go every day. Even living 45 minutes away is better than being a full plane ride from one as it is the case for me now living in Ohio. You know why I love Florida so much. Because of how close it is to Islands like Puerto Rico. If I wanted to go hike on a mountain, I'd take a short flight from Orlando to San Juan. I would love to own real estate in Florida and Puerto Rico. I have alot of family from PR that moved to Florida after Hurricane Maria. The reason why I love Florida so much is how much Latin influence this state has which makes me feel very comfortable as a latino myself seeing my people prosper here with careers such as latino/latina doctors, lawyers, etc. I personally think that if you want to live in Puerto Rico, Florida is a great training spot since most of the population of Florida speaks Spanish as a first language especially South Florida and plus the heat and humidity with sun in Florida is very much akin to that of Puerto Rico's. Only difference is that Florida gets a little more hotter but Puerto Rico the sun is alot stronger meaning you can either get a tan or a sunburn in less than 15 mins. Also Puerto Rico since it has mountains has wind breeze as well unlike Florida but during the Winter and Spring Central Florida gets just as breezy Puerto Rico as well.

My advice I would have added would be to have them try other areas in Florida before they throw in the towel. I felt the space coast was a great place ot start for hobby reasons. If jobs suck and the people suck, I would then to figure out what other Florida areas fill the missing categories. So many people misunderstand the real truth about Florida. It's like paradise for many people especially from cold weather places if you can't get to the islands. Florida is nothing like California. totally different plus its the south and not the west coast. Florida is about lifestyle and entertainment versus a place like Alabama where you have a combination of that plus so much history and culture, more diverse landscape with mountains, the beaches, bayou, huge lakes, caves, and much more, far outweighs what Florida has. Florida 99.9% of the time you will spend your time working a job to pay for the bills, etc. rather then spending 99.9% living the kings and queen life of enjoying the LIFE! unless you are wealthy. You will get the chance to enjoy the things in Florida when time allows you. Florida is not a cheap place to live either. Do your Homework very very carefully before you consider moving to Florida. Its always best to live the life that will make you the happiest no matter what or where.Good food for thought.Thank you.Oh also it has been miserably hot in Michigan in the summertime as well (90°-100°)so anyhow Its awful I think everywhere in the summer lately 🥵

That will certianly make it that much easier for you to move then lol. Yes a lot of this can apply anywhere, except the heat. The thing about the heat here vs the midwest, is its hot 24 hours a day here. When I lived in IL, I remember hot summer says in the 90's and 100's but those were not too common, and even when they occured, it still got significantly cooler at night. That's not the case here. I live in Orlando but is in the process of moving out to NY (I'm in my 20s) I have basically grown up there and a lot of people that I went to high school with and college are in the process of moving or have already left. Some went further south like Miami, some left to California, others went to Texas, New York, Seattle, the majority left to Colorado. Literally, it is the lack of good-paying jobs in Florida and the lack of diverse terrain. The theme parks gets old and the nightlife is not as exciting as for example Miami.
