Excellent thank you
Thank you for this video! Very useful! I have a question though. I created a table and added one slicer to filter data. I then added 3 pivot tables to have total amounts for the same table. When I select an item on the slicer, it filters the table and it gives me the totals on the pivot tables. However, the clicked item matches on the data table but it gives me a the total for a different item on the pivot tables. What am I doing wrong? Also, the “report connections” option is grayed out on the slicer.
Awesome Jason! Slicers are so handy. Thanks for sharing your tips :)) Thumbs up!!

Ver nicely explained: Quick question can you do a 'simplified' slicer with values, meaning instead of showing all data indivually you can click, ask to show as range for example "1000-200" dollars, button on the slicer ? Thanks so much !
Excellant. Can you tell me how i can reduce a particular amount by 75%, - when applying a discount for example? Thank you
I can't seem to do this with a worksheet that has merged cells.
Best
hello sir i added 4 slicers on my dashboard but i have a problem when I click on the top filter button on my 4th slicer It starts showing the blank button on the other slicer but i have clicked the check box to hide item with no data ten why blanks buttons started appears
👍👍👍
How would one go about using a column value filter as a header for a print-friendly report? Say I wanted to print one report for each category, and have the category name at the top of the report. e.g. one each for BIKES, SHOCKS, HELMETS etc.
Enter the category in a cell at the top of the report that becomes part of the printed sheet. Then use the filter command with a reference to that cell. As you change the category in the cell the filtered results will display below it. You can even create a pull down list to select the category. Check out this video about filter for more information: czcams.com/video/eqB2mklvWSg/video.html
can you make a slicer depend on another slicer? example: I have a set of data for everyday for the last 3 years. I just want to show the last 10 days as options on the slicer...I'm having a hard time figuring out how to remove the other options from the options that my users can select. (im using an external data source on a pivot table)

Is the "Analyze Data" option available in Excel 2016 Professional?
It's available in any Office 365 or Microsoft 365 version. They did call it "ideas" in the older versions.
Hi thanks. Suppose my name column is too long so when we just do filter and put name then that name appears soon. But when we put slicer and same scenario and i want to see a particular name but since name list is too long in column slicer then how do I see that particular name ? So i need to scroll the entire slicer name column or how i put filter for that name which would be some where far which would not be initially seen on slicer column as it's too far somewhere
You can widen the slicer so it should show the full name. Try resizing the slicer width by dragging the right side.
Slicers move up while scrolling.. how to stop it
How can i set the slicer up left to right? i dont want them all to run vertically. Cant seem to figure this out. Good info here but of course, no solution to my question. Anyone out there know how to set this up horizontally. i stretch it horizontally and then just see my first week very wide.lol smh Maybe make a video on running these left to right. Cant find one out there!
There is no option to change a slicer to horizontal which is why you can't find a video for it. You could use a filter at the top of a table and it may be close to that effect but not with a slicer.
If I understand correctly, you want a slicer to show values in a single horizontal row - one after the other? If so, there are two steps. I think you got the first one but I'll repeat it for others. Select the slicer by clicking it at somewhere along its header at the very top (don't click on a value). While selected, you can alter its format. Six "grab handles" will appear that allow you to change the size and shape of the slicer box. Grab an appropriate handle (try bottom right) and drag it into the shape that you want (a single row). Now, with the slicer still selected, from the top Menu click "Slicer" and you will see an option named "columns". Increase the number (and you will see the other values appear to the right of the first one. Play with the column number and box shape until satisfied. For example, if you have a list of the alphabet, set the columns to 26 they all appear in one row.
