okay my story with the game
      IT SUCKS MEGA ASS
i bought it at release and i was hyped and the mission design is soooo fucking boring just fetch quests for 10 hours and camps to raid and uninteresting characters, even boozer. the only good thing about this game was tge story between sarah and decon but when you find her and she also gives you fetch quests instead of doing something important i was out.
so what a coincidence i started the game a few days ago again and yeah the save file was broken and i needed to start at iron mikes camp again my bike was flying in the air and i could not reach it the fps were maybe 20 and than i could not speak to rikki and than my bike had no sound.

@@Tripnotik25 i dont know what you're talking about. I played the game during quarantine and was brilliant. The story isnt repetitive at all because something new always comes up like when you find the little girl or find the scientist (O'Brian). I agree that its pretty generic in terms of an apocalyptic scenario type of game, but so is TLOU imo which is a masterpiece. I really bonded with the characters and sometimes i felt their happiness or sadness during some events, this was hugely achieved due to the likeness of characters like boozer, iron mike and the hate towards others like tucker and cope and skizzo (personally). Also Deacon talking to himself all the time like a normal person would really adds to the realism. The environment was really good and had enough to explore throughout the whole gameplay. I love this game, I love story driven games that take a long time. I always feel my interest in any game disappear once I finish the main story, so this game is perfect. Hordes are scary and gets the heart pumping ( until you get used to them, but I am not even though I slaughtered several without the Napalm Molotov) and damn. I love how the map unlocks several times, and the main story feels like it never finishes which I love. It seems people didn't like it for some reason, and no sequel is in sight.... That makes me very sad

  • @alextownley9388
    @alextownley9388 Pƙed rokem +315

As far as I am concerned it’s the most under appreciated game by critics ever. No, it’s story and writing quality is not on par with any of the other modern first-party PlayStation exclusives, and Deacon isn’t a remarkable character. BUT he is a excellently acted character, and the story consistently gets more and more intriguing as the game goes on. It also has a phenomenally designed open world (I’m not talking about mission design) the actual world itself is an absolute blast to explore and it’s so well designed. And I find the core gunplay and melee to feel every bit as good as TLOU. I love maintaining my fuel, and motorcycle, and fighting the hordes is one of the most thrilling edge of your seat gameplay experiences I have ever had.
It frankly pisses me off to know we’ll likely never get a sequel yet Sony is producing a film 🙄
It is one of those games that I just have to replay at least once a year.

It's got to be one of the better 'zombie apocalypse' based games. I love Deek and Boozer, dynamic duo. The voice actor for Deacon was awesome. I remember him from the show being human (US version). The world is incredible, the zombies and hordes are creepy as heck. And the Saw Mill? Need I say more? I did mod the game a small bit, the fuel thing really got on my nerves after the first play through. The game was intriguing, touching, scary and just all around fun.

This is probably the most derivative game I’ve ever played. It’s part last of us and part Red Dead. With a little bit of Ubisoft games thrown in there. But despite not having an original bone in its body, I’ve spent over 100 hours in it. Something about the gameplay loop keeps me coming back for more.

i loved it. got platinum and it never felt like a chore to do so (one of the few platinums i ever got). one of the few problems, what many have said before: the main selling point of the game doesn't come until like 70% through the main story.
Also, some people found Deacon talking to himself NONSTOP during the game to be annoying. I liked it. Yeah, kinda annoying at times but uhh i talk to myself a bit on the way to the store so i don't forget the shopping list of 3 items. It is understandable he is constantly reminding himself of stuff when riding through the apocalypse + after all that trauma, it makes sense that something up in the noggin broke.

I haven’t played since it came out, but I did beat the entire game and most of the side content back then. I can tell you one thing for sure, the type of terror and dread this game can conjure inside of you is unique. There are impossible, suicide mission type situations it can leave you in. It doesn’t force you there though, it’s usually your own curiosity or overconfidence that leads you there. Then it leaves you to your own devices to try and find your way through it. The freaker hordes are a spectacle, not many games pull off the scale they can be found in on Days Gone. Definitely a really good game. Very deserving of its limelight.

When it shines, it's great. I love the gameplay loop of ride, get off for a mission or to hunt for gas or parts, fight humans or zombies (I'm not calling them "freakers," "freaks" would've been just fine), then either clear them out or narrowly escape with the freaks hot on your heels. They should've had more hordes and introduced you to them much even if they didn't adequately equip you to most effectively fight them right away, but it was the highlight of the game for a reason. They are so intense and so much fun. I got a little overzealous and actually killed off two-to-four of the smallest herds before the story officially wanted me to start fighting them. I enjoyed the story, and while I know some people (mostly corporate game journos) hated the characters, I found them rather endearing in their own way. They kept me going through the story. I also appreciated the bike upgrades and customization. If I had one complaint, it was the fact that it's open world and side content was way too Ubisoft if you catch my drift. Side content shouldn't all feel like a generic chore to check off a list that overstays its welcome. That's exactly what Ubisoft games do all the time, and Days Gone took a few too many pages from their open world design handbook imo. It's fine if there's a little bit of that, but ideally, side content should actually be substantive. Make it unnecessary but additive experience that actually gives you a little extra something about the story, the world, and its characters. The Witcher 3, I think, does incredibly well at finding this balance. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is dang near perfect and should be the template for how to do open world anything in general. Sony was really dumb not to give this a sequel. Was it perfect? No, but it was a solid foundation. Given the chance, the leap from 1 to 2 could've been like what the first Uncharted was to its way better sequel.

Runnying out of gas was legit paranoia. It happened to me when I had to retrieve the lavender for the tea. I was so focused on getting the hoard to follow me far enough that I could go back and grab the lavender, I had completely ignored my gas. I ran out of gas trying to get away after retrieving the lavender. I had to run away, then sneak through half way through the map for a gas tank, then sneak back, stealth kill a ton of freakers, and at the same time avoid the hoard just to get my bike back. I killed over an hour doing this. I did not know I could have just walked to camp and pay to retrieve the bike. lol Oddly, towards the end, you get to a point in the tank upgrades that you hardly even have to think about, but also, there are gas tanks everywhere. I bet the developers had a laugh about it.

I really liked this game and played it to the end and pretty much completed most of the side stuff. The only thing I didn't like about the game is that I felt really long after the half way point and I generally don't mind long games with large maps.
However, I think its largely due to the fact that after you defeat the Rippers the game drastically changes the tone of the story and the fact that you are locked out of the main area you played in through out the game up until that point, until the end of it, which is then replaced with a new area almost the size of the entire previous playable area.
I also believe it is that most of the side content is quite repititive for such a long game and, from what I remember, there being relatively few side quest, atleast outside of the camps.
I know this is not a new problem with open world games, but for me this game specifically felt it had this issue worse than others and I play a lot of open world games.
I still enjoyed the story and characters overall alot and thought the use of the specific survival and horde mechanics where quite good. It is a shame that there will probably not be a sequel.

The game had so much potential and room to grow with DLCs, to bad the studio bailed out on it.
