      Hi Douglas! Yes, make your self a welding table then build a shop around it. 😄 Thanks for watching!

    Nice table from scratch, but I would think the welding spatter would fall through the holes all over your tool and having the slide draw there if plasma cutting even off the edge would cover your tools. I think I would put a thin steel divider between table top and slide draw somewhere.
    Like your vids, you have helped me a lot with my Kubota

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +2

      Thanks, Edwick! The solid top I plan to put on it will solve that problem. The plasma cutting didn’t appear to get on the tools in the drawer and I moved the angle grinder before starting. Glad my Kubota videos have been helpful to you!

    I'd recommend getting some "retractable" casters. I have some on my workbench and they're unbelievable. Allows you to move it around when you want, and then put the legs of the table on the ground. Then you're not relying on cheap wheel locks to keep the table steady.

    • @DIYMyWay

      Hi there NoSmoking! That’s exactly what I plan to do. Thanks for watching!

    If it were my table I'd put some flat bar on the sides of the drawer so that things won't fall out. Maybe put a handle on the front as well.

    Great that you are able to do your own welding Martin! My neighbour Guy keeps trying to teach me but honest, I can not see when I drop the shield. LOL. Cheers!

      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +1

      Hi Gord! Most of my welds aren’t pretty but they have all held up so far. Is the welding helmet an auto darkening one or just a fixed shade? Auto darkening makes all the difference because you can see right up to the moment you start welding, then if set to the right darkness it protects you eyes but lets you see the weld pool. Don’t give up yet! Welding is a super power worth learning! Thanks for watching!

    How's she goin'? Martin this is the kind of project I am drawn towards. The ones that we make with scrap and left overs form other shop activities. This is a great looking table. The channel for the sides and drawer are perfect eh. A great place for the grinders to hang at the ready!! Very nice and thanks for sharing. Take care!!

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +2

      She’s goin’ good, Mike! Yes, I know. Your repurposing projects inspire me to do the same. Yep, the lip on that 14ga c-channel is perfect for hanging my grinders. Any thicker and the DeWalt grinders wouldn’t fit. Thanks for watching!

    I like your welding table and the cost! I think that casters on the legs and only cover 1/2 of the table solid and the other 1/2 make into a plasma cutting table with a water pan to cut down on the extra cleanup of using a plasma cutter with the casters you simpley turn the table around for the project at hand

  • @qfdforme
    @qfdforme Před rokem +1

    Nice welding table. It looks like your Easyflux welder has held up well. And, your welds have improved. Early pandemic I bought a Klutch welding table with tools for $100 on sale. Put some locking casters on it and I am all set for small jobs. Same unit today is $250 at Northern Tool.

    Simply love it, Martin. Man, am I slightly envious of the nice roomy working area you have there. Maybe one day I'll get serious and build the workshop that I really want but right now all the neat ideas you and others show are giving me some nice ideas. The hardest thing I've been trying to tackle is how big of a workshop do I want vs how big of a workshop that I need. As always, I've enjoyed your video. Thanks; & a full-watch. Don 👍🏽🤠 1/22/23

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +1

      Hey Don! Glad you love it! The reason I have so much room is I went bigger that originally planned and never regretted it. So my advice is to decide how much space you need then go at least 50% bigger. Thanks for watching!

  • @randonloebsolvingproblems4421

    I zip tied my angle grinder wrenches to their power cords. That way I never lose them, and forces me to unplug the angle grinder while swapping disks for safety.

    I bought a Titan aerator and used the shipping framework to build my welding table back in 2019 . Yours looks great compared to mine. I’m going to rework mine soon to add some of the features that you mentioned, however I did include a cut off saw and a vice in my build.

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +1

      Hi Fred! Great minds think alike. I’ll be adding a vice when I put on a solid table top and I’ll probably store my chop saw on the lower shelf to pull out as needed. Thanks for watching!

    Very nice Martin and super handy too.
    Back in the early 1990’s, there was a train derailment of new Ford pickups into the Mississippi River. The cars carrying the trucks had sheets of punched aluminum to give the cars some protection. There were gobs of them that those of us who were divers cleaned up out of the river. I wish now that I would have hung onto some of that stuff from the recovery.

    As a professional welder who has built powerplants, refineries AND robots in a fabrication shop, I think you should not skimp on your top. Spend the money to get 1/2". Get with your local fabrication shop. I guarantee they have a piece of drop that will be big enough for your table and its stored nice and flat. They may even trim it up on the CNC plasma table and cut it to your actual specs. The whole sheet was charged to a job that only used half of it, so they would be able to give you a break on the price if they wanted to.
