love this pedal. recently found a great, different way to use it too. a few weeks ago at band practice I had forgotten both of my boost pedals at home, EP Boost and Spark Mini. I've gotten so used to playing with a boost that my sound was a little anemic without it. I took the TS side and turned the gain all the way down and boosted the level, dialed in the tone, and chose the right fat/stock/glass (can't remember which), and used it as a damn good clean boost. also if you do this and then engage the BB side you can dial in some damn near fuzz tones. it was really surprising to me how well it worked in that setting.
Great review and tone as always Mark! I got a Duellist earlier this week and I love both sides. Aside from Fuzzes, would you pair it with a certain type of drive? It seems to provide so many tones, I have a Klon as boost in Front which seems to work, but wondering how you run it!
Hey Mark. Thanks for the videos. Nice playing. I recently watched your Jesse Davey interview. Super cool. It's been a couple of years since you put this video out. Are you still digging this pedal, or do you have a new fav? I got a Kingtone Blues Power and it's by far my favorite pedal. I'm thinking about selling my TS-10 Tube Screamer and buying the Duellist. I don't think you can go wrong with any of Jesse's gear to be honest. Thanks bro.
Thanks Michael!! I still love it - it's been on and off my board to taste, but I always love it!I just got the Nordvang Gravity pedal and that TS10 in there is pretty dang magical too!
Stephen Prater it’s great! On that board I have a bunch of random stuff; it wasn’t my gigging board. But I think it was: Duelist, third stone Fuzz, jhs pink panther, pharaoh boost, walrus monument
Mark Hopkins well I have had some time to spend with the Duellist and I can say its the best pedal I have ever used! and I have had just about every popular or boutique pedal there is, including the Royal Overdrive, Jan Ray, KOT, Timmy, La Grange, Landgraff, ect. ect. ect. This pedal is sick! On the heavy hand side I can do fuzzy Hendrix stuff without a fuzz and the string singer gets me as close as Iv’e ever been to SRV. Im freakin blown away! no wonder why Sayce uses one. I love it!
Ivan Carlos Santiago it’s hard to tell on YT as well, but the left side definitely has more gain. If you get a chance to check one out in person I’d recommend it.
This pedal with a Fender Stratocaster = perfect ! Great review ! . Greetings from Colombia.
Thanks! Great to meet you!
OMG. Got mine today. This pedal is really quite amazing. Everything I’d hope it would be.
It's a beautiful machine! You're gonna have a fun weekend finding tones!
Great review

Killer, I gotta try that! Doesn't surprise me, Jesse's stuff is just that good.

I use the blues breaker side a lot with my Jan Ray when I play slide. They play together very well!
Mark Hopkins, thanks! I’ve got a Prince of Tone on the shelf (redundant?) but may try the new Timmy and (maybe eventually) a Jan Rey.

So does your cat sleep on your pedals?
haha - my dog does sometimes, yes
Awesome, I been looking at getting one of these. What else is on your board?

Stephen Prater 100% Agreed!
@@ericcartman8354 when did sayce start using one?
@@ericcartman8354 how does it compare to the Royal overdrive, I have the Ro but really want the duelist too, is there a big difference, cheers 😊
I really do not have an ear for drive pedals... they all sound like any other drive pedal to me. I could not even tell apart the sides on this pedal

I’m buying this next month.
